We are Well Chuffed Railways🚂 a fun quirky channel about railways big and small.
Hi we are Rick and Pauline. Well Chuffed Railways is our quirky little UA-cam channel which is all about our days out and about visiting model railway exhibitions, heritage railways, toy fairs and lots of other lovely things. We will also be taking a closer look at my own model railway layout and reviewing the goodies we buy on our adventures. Lots of other features to come including abandoned railway locations and more. Oh and we will taking our Dog Bobby on some trips (our cat Lola will be staying home). Cheers and thanks for watching. **Please note that most comments you leave will be answered after 18:00 when we get home from work** 🙂

i remember you making that at the club
Were you a visitor or a club member? Either way thanks for watching.
Off to the test track to start!!!! Nice I do like the English Layout :)!!!!!! Lot to see and a great Layout too. This was great and do you belong to this club. Or did you just pop in for a video just wondering :). Have a great week and see you later!!!!!
Hi Brad, we met a couple of the members at another show earlier this year and they asked if we would like to pop along. Bit of a rushed video this one as it was done just before I had the knee done. Thanks for watching and have a great week Rick
Just what you "kneeded". That "caps" it all.
Bobby should be a "Bo". The tea flasks are "billy cans".
Another great video i look forward to these ever weekend
Thanks very much, we appreciate it. 😀
Great video as always
Thanks very much Caroline.
Hello Rick and Pauline So many great layouts and nice to see some from early stages. Take care both
Great layouts. The UK seems to have lots of train shows going on. How do you pick the ones to attend? Bill and Janet from California .
Facebook and the UK model directory's event page. Cheers Rick
Great video nice to see layouts starting out and the finished ones look really good thank you for sharing 👍
Thanks Clive
I like the layout with the rock face, but why is nothing weathered with the locos and rolling stock….it brings the layout to life.
Nice wasn't it Nick, dunno but not everybody is into weathering. Cheers Rick
@@wellchuffedrailways yeah you are right Rick, it’s just my opinion but you have to admit it does look better. But I guess people are scared they will mess it up.
Thanks for another great video. The narrow gauge layout was a model of Hume End on the former The Leek and Manifold Valley Light Railway . You can drive through the former railway tunnel there! The Zillertal Railway in Austria still uses transporter wagons to carry goods in standard gauge wagons as the L&M once did.
That’s a nice looking venue, spot on for a rail exhibition. A good mix of layouts and in various states of completion, pleased to hear that there wasn’t the background battle of engine sounds. Thanks for sharing with the contingent of modellers in the south.
it was really loud with the trains but it was a great opening day at the club
Does it get boring being so awesome all the time? lol Another great tour well presented. I don't know if it was planned, but I loved how you staged the club layouts from "newest/basic" to "more developed" to developed" to "most complete." There are a couple stories on the "abandoned" layout I would have loved to have heard. Of course, a fantastic primary layout.
that was a top video, some right decent layouts Thank you for showing us round.
Great to see a train club in action, it seem it was set in an old mill or something? The craziest club location I've ever seen, was in Germany where they had a huge layout running in the attic of a church, no need to say that the vicar was a member of the club and It couldn't be run during mass.😂 I think you're absolutely right on DCC Sound, it looks great, I even have a few where it was installed when I bought them, as I run DCC (without sound), but personally I think it's over the top and becomes irritating after a while, specially if you run more than one. So those I have, when I run them, 9 out of 10 I leave the sound off. And if you really think about it, even if you use real recorded sound files, it becomes over the top when you pull it into scale as it suppresses all other sounds. As a viewer looking at a real train, you get the full sound when the loco passes you, but it fades very fast, once the loco is further on, and you then here the rolling of the wheels from wagons or coaches, which last so much longer then a loco sound. So even without sound you get the beautiful sound of rolling wheels, you can hear very well in this video, and If you want to hear the most realistic sound in scale, you must run the Hornby OO live steam loco's. So in my view it's better to have bird sounds or a running stream in the back ground, that is in my view more relaxing than over the top loco sounds. Another example of these expensive over the top gadgets are smoke generators, where the old oil burning ones are very bad for your health, and if you really want smoke, you better can use the new vape principal technologie. But you never can imitate the black & white smoke plums of a real steamer. It's of course a free choice of everyone's fancy and often childhood dreams where you saw a smoking loco on the cover of your catalog or you had to make the sounds them self when you where playing with trains. Great video, Pauline was reminded that she still has to build the greenhouse😜 Hope your operation worked well and your on the better side now… Cheers, Danny
17:57 sensation view of class 37 and the irony ms chuffed is carrying the same bag my wife carry’s about on select compact outings. Cracker taste great footage a few snoozers at that show but like any job we take the good with the bad and a bad day with the trains beats a good one at work ha ha ha stay safe chufferz from the Big Duffer!
We lived in a nissan hut whilst they built Ladybrook est in Mansfield, I lost my yellow friction drive taxi underneath ours.
Nice to see that the Irebridge layout is still going.
Great layouts all around, thanks for the video.
Great video guys 😊 yes Nissan huts 🛖 were a house hold airrade shelter. Keep up the excellent work 👏 👍
Yes! Thank you!
Nissen Huts were named after Major Peter Norman Nissen in WWI who designed them and used as barrack buildings. The Americans copied the idea and called them Quonset huts. Anderson shelters were WII and used as shelters in the garden.
Nissan Huts
That it! Cheers Malcolm
The sheds Nissan huts used them during the war
Hello yal its a quonsut hut ( mayb b spelled wrong) we r a common people divided by a common language or sum like that an i dont spell very good
Hi Pauline and Rick, I think the mystery locos and coaches are modelling on the small narrower gauge railways of Austria and Germany. I travelled in those type of coaches with a similar loco in the Ziller valley in Austria, from Jenbach to Mayrhofen. Jenbach station had three lines, standard gauge OBB, narrow gauge and a clog railway up the mountain. Harry
Full of bloody adds😡
Thanks Peter everything is left on default.
Nice train show keep up the good video s thanks lee
Cheers Lee
4:15 looks like a good selection from the Egger Bahn catalog, who made various narrow gauge equipment. 5:48 bit of a strange arrangement for a 'rollbockgrube', especially because the ramp is missing for the standard gauge vehicles. 6:40 the grey one is a 'HFB Brigadelok', these were designed for Decauville type railways in WW1
Thanks to you both for taking me around this Bakewell show. I am at the Chatham Kent show on Sunday. Will you be going ?? Regards Alan :o)
Glad you enjoyed it Alan, no we won't be going, it's a bit far for us. All the best Rick
he defiantly is enjoying the trip
He definitely prefers it to the 🚗.
Its great to see both of you as husband and wife enjoying the hobby togheter 👌👍
I'm amazed these shops can keep going with the cost of model's going sky high , people on low income just can't afford the model railway hobby it's just to expensive even second hand models are getting expensive IVe started on a. Layout but now can't afford to finish building it so it sits in the cupboard,
Secondhand is the way to go, I have only bought one new loco as far as I can remember. Shops also have a lot of items that are not on display and give discounts on used track for people starting layouts. It might be an idea to join your local model railway club if you have one as they quite often have lots of items to sell they don't require. Good luck with the layout and all the best Rick.
@@wellchuffedrailways thanks for the advice. My nearest is Cheltenham models Trevor Morgan is the owner or if I'm out and about I call in on Adrian at Hereford model's who has lots of secondhand model railway and fair priced,
Hi Rick hope operation went well was it a knee job I had one two years ago and all is well
Thanks Michael, yes it was a knee op that has been causing me problems for a number of years. Thankfully now sorted. All the best Rick
Go Bobby Go! I am glad to see the star of well chuffed railways has put in an appearance Harry
Fame is going to go to his head one day!
@@wellchuffedrailways Rick I hope the knee is starting to feel better, my mate had it done some years ago and he was in discomfort for a few weeks before it settled down. Harry
Is Rick, sorry Rico-chet, with a hyphen starting gender reassignment on the other leg now? 😂 You’ll soon be in matching stilettos and 32 denier biscuit surprise pregnancy strength tights before you know it! Get well soon!
Lol I can confirm that rumours of my pregnancy are greatly exaggerated. 😂
That should be Rick <perching> O'Shea. Anyone who gets that reference wins a gold star.
And which heritage railway are you riding on this time? I used to be a volunteer at the Epping Ongar Railway and had to leave because of ill health.
This was the Walsingham Light Railway in North Norfolk some weeks ago. Cheers Rick
So you dont like eBay, or any online shopping then ?
I don't think I said that? The shop sells online and the address is in the video. I have bought lots of items online including from eBay. The two can happily exist side by side I just think it would be a shame if all the shops disappeared and we were left with chunky chicken take aways and vape shops. 🍗🚬
He looks to be enjoying himself
Anything to get a break from us! I hope you’re back on the move soon.
Cheers!😀
Not many bargins in hospital! Get well soon from the club.🎉
Cheers Stuart. 😂
Wish you a speedy recovery Rick 👍
Cheers Simon
Get well soon Rick - looks like a knee op rather than a 10-year boiler certificate re tubing.... thank goodness 😁
Ha ha cheers!
Had the same op as you Rick now am fully recovered took 2 weeks though but you got Pauline whos a lovely lady to take care of you.
Hi, that's good to know thanks. I'm sure Pauline will be relieved to hear that as well. Cheers Rick
. . you're not having your wallet extracted are you? . . .
I hope not!
Cheer up and continue enjoying life and of course the trains, greetings, happy summer, speedy recovery.
Cheers should be back out and about in a couple of weeks
Wishing you a speedy recovery Rick. Look after him Pauline.
Thanks very much from us both
Hope you are recovering from your stint inside. Looking forward to seeing you soon, without the dodgy gown, fully clothed I mean, god forbid you in yer kecks is a nasty image, especially if they are Thomas or woe is me, Percy. Get well soon.
Hi, all good thanks, the op was on Tuesday so just chilling while the knee heals. All pretty routine but can't wait to be back out and about. Sorry anyones minds have been scarred by the video. 😂😂 Percy undies? Please don't give Pauline any ideas. 😂😂
Hope operation goes well chin up
It went well (Tuesday) I'm keeping my chin (s) up. 😀
get well soon Rick guessing its a knee op
Thanks, yes it is (was).
