Rail Mail was a model railway shop based in Watford. Bought some Zero 1 chips that never arrived. They Advertised in the railway modeller back then.😀

Hi guy,s another great video, I like these one,s. I,v got the HO class 31 also. I was actually given it. It,s not a bad little model., I,v only got one coach to go with it so I think I,v only ran it once. I may keep my eye out for a few more coaches and run it a bit more often. All the best guys. Carl.

Some great models you’ve bought!! My purchases this year have been the GWR Railmotor as preserved, a very attractive Class 101 DMU and some wagons.

Ha ha not a chance, my knowledge is quite specific but I do a lot of research and forget a lot of it. Pauline however would be great if the subject was related to garden centres or jelly babys! All the best Rick

Not got a 33, but am tempted right now by Rails' offer of a Fragonset-livered Heljan version for £99.
Is there any way of checking whether a wagon's livery is authentic or not?
Would you like my 3 Jeouf HO coaches, with Double-style couplers?
    A very entertaining video.

Sounds like a good deal, all I can suggest is Google images and lots of searching. I looked to see if the Ronuk tanker was prototypical and found various sites with info. So yes I'd Google it and see what you find. Which coaches do you mean? All the best Rick

    nothing steam😱😱😱🤣
My first train sets I got where HO (1/87) living in Belgium, but once discovered OO (1/76) it immediately became my favorite scale.
Just that bit bigger always looked better to me.
Although if you really are into scale then all OO is wrong and you should build in EM.
Problem with EM is that nothing can be bought ready of the shelf, and everything must be adjusted or scratch build, and all must be done for 2mm wider track space.
And I have to say, seeing a couple of EM layouts on shows the recent years, they all look fabulous, great respect for the builders.
But then I ask my self the question, is it due that the scale is correct or is it because these builders are perfectionists in the fines detail? (I leave the question open as it is a matter of opinion)
Concerning the colored stripes you see on the HO wagons, you also find them on OO, this a European arrangement between railway companies, CER (about 70 different companies belong to that society), has nothing to do with EU regulations, and not sure if all the privet operators still do it now.
The advantage of that society is to give the traveler, don't matter what langue you speak, a uniform recognition to see which is a first class coach or a dining coach.
With this CER organization, although it's lost much of it's glamor, allows you to buy all your tickets in the country of depart to your end destination.
They even sell a European hop on hop off tickets spread over a curtain time (I believe it was two months, don't even now if they still exist), which lot of youngsters used to discover Europe on a low budget, great idea, but it lost it's glamor due to cheap air tickets…

Nice video. I got some bargains today too.
There was a local model railway club exhibition near me and I picked up 4 wagons (a mix of Hornby and Mainline) for $30 which is about 4 quid each. That's cheap for Australia
The coaches, which are what I was after, were not cheap sadly. I need a few Southern and GWR to make up a decent rake for my non-local locos. I'm LMS-based. Cheers!

I used to live in North Sydney 1988-2000 and would attend the MR train fairs around Warringah. I bought quite a few kits like MAJ coaches which I still have to build - happy memories

If you take scale it out in HO the real coach will work out at 74 foot. It is only the coupling that is HO. The Lima UK wagons from that period is HO

Lima could of carried on in HO fleishmann done a great job with the warship in scaling I have two of them they are heavy metal bodied one green one blue ,but Lima could of done it cheaper as well ,in Sunday markets at the time you could pick up sets including the O gauge ones ,in 77 my dad got me the LMS road rail set by Lima in HO Brentford market it is now home of the football stadium 😂 for £8 it had siding incline and bridge and the platform to load the lorry on to the train plus controller lots of wagons too I remember the gold coloured fishplates on their track 😊
    Great video
    Regards to all

Hi Mark, unfortunately UK HO would always be niche similar to TT120 today. The Lima sets were always interesting due to the amount of accessories they came with and they made great Christmas presents. All the best Rick

Oh my god😱, a blue loco that Pauline does not like, watch the world end! Re the 1981 royal wedding goods van, on that day I was in Maidstone buying a HMV stereogram. I see Pauline is recovering with some American coaches and a blue diesel. By the way I had a complete set of those coaches when I was a little boy! Harry

well i think that Paulines coaches were the most interesting bargains . I first saw these models in the early 1970s , when visiting Britain for the first time. I still have the little book that i bought then 64 pages - Book of trains from Triang and Hornby. It contains lots of samples from Triangs production with some information as well. The coaches were made for the overseas market and painted in several schemes. Australian and canadian among others. This is something that i really would buy should i ever start a new collection. Oh and yes please don't change wheels or anything on them, just carefully clean the coaches with some water and detergent on some cotton sticks. By the way , try to find the engines painted in the australian scheme of the VR victorian railways, that sure is one of the most colorful models, double ended diesel. great video !
