Does it get boring being so awesome all the time? lol Another great tour well presented. I don't know if it was planned, but I loved how you staged the club layouts from "newest/basic" to "more developed" to developed" to "most complete." There are a couple stories on the "abandoned" layout I would have loved to have heard. Of course, a fantastic primary layout.

Ha ha, well Anthony I could ask the same of you! No it was not planned but please don't tell anyone. We are enjoying visiting the clubs as generally the layouts are bigger and unable to visit exhibitions which means we haven't seen them before. Thanks for watching Rick

That’s a nice looking venue, spot on for a rail exhibition. A good mix of layouts and in various states of completion, pleased to hear that there wasn’t the background battle of engine sounds. Thanks for sharing with the contingent of modellers in the south.

Nissen Huts were named after Major Peter Norman Nissen in WWI who designed them and used as barrack buildings. The Americans copied the idea and called them Quonset huts. Anderson shelters were WII and used as shelters in the garden.

Thanks for another great video. The narrow gauge layout was a model of Hume End on the former The Leek and Manifold Valley Light Railway . You can drive through the former railway tunnel there! The Zillertal Railway in Austria still uses transporter wagons to carry goods in standard gauge wagons as the L&M once did.

Hi both. Was this video pre or post the knee issue? Hope you're feeling better, whichever.
That narrow-to-standard guage transhipment used to happen down the road from me at Halesworth station, to/from the narrow guage Southwold Railway. Halesworth station is also the place where there was a "moving platform" that whilst no longer in use is still in situ.
    That ravine scene was amazing!

Hi Stephen this video was filmed on the Sunday and the op was on Tuesday and was a very rushed edit as I was working all day Monday. Usually I have all week to edit! Oh and we also had mic issues so a lot of footage was binned. We will have a vlog out this weekend and next weekend's vid will be from Peak Rail as I can sit down!! There were some great layouts there and I had not seen one of those narrow gauge to standard wagon transhipment before. Interesting that one is still in situ, I will have to look for more info on them on Google. All the best Rick

Great to see a train club in action, it seem it was set in an old mill or something?
The craziest club location I've ever seen, was in Germany where they had a huge layout running in the attic of a church, no need to say that the vicar was a member of the club and It couldn't be run during mass.😂
I think you're absolutely right on DCC Sound, it looks great, I even have a few where it was installed when I bought them, as I run DCC (without sound), but personally I think it's over the top and becomes irritating after a while, specially if you run more than one.
So those I have, when I run them, 9 out of 10 I leave the sound off.
And if you really think about it, even if you use real recorded sound files, it becomes over the top when you pull it into scale as it suppresses all other sounds.
As a viewer looking at a real train, you get the full sound when the loco passes you, but it fades very fast, once the loco is further on, and you then here the rolling of the wheels from wagons or coaches, which last so much longer then a loco sound.
So even without sound you get the beautiful sound of rolling wheels, you can hear very well in this video, and If you want to hear the most realistic sound in scale, you must run the Hornby OO live steam loco's.
So in my view it's better to have bird sounds or a running stream in the back ground, that is in my view more relaxing than over the top loco sounds.
Another example of these expensive over the top gadgets are smoke generators, where the old oil burning ones are very bad for your health, and if you really want smoke, you better can use the new vape principal technologie.
But you never can imitate the black & white smoke plums of a real steamer.
It's of course a free choice of everyone's fancy and often childhood dreams where you saw a smoking loco on the cover of your catalog or you had to make the sounds them self when you where playing with trains.
Great video, Pauline was reminded that she still has to build the greenhouse😜
Hope your operation worked well and your on the better side now…
    Cheers,
    Danny

17:57 sensation view of class 37 and the irony ms chuffed is carrying the same bag my wife carry’s about on select compact outings. Cracker taste great footage a few snoozers at that show but like any job we take the good with the bad and a bad day with the trains beats a good one at work ha ha ha stay safe chufferz from the Big Duffer!

4:15 looks like a good selection from the Egger Bahn catalog, who made various narrow gauge equipment.
5:48 bit of a strange arrangement for a 'rollbockgrube', especially because the ramp is missing for the standard gauge vehicles.
6:40 the grey one is a 'HFB Brigadelok', these were designed for Decauville type railways in WW1

Another great video, Like you said about DCC i love the idea of it but im not a big lover of sound. I dont own any sound locos at all and dont plan to buy any. Its great having the sound if you like it but 1. the price 2. just think if you had 3 or 4 locos ticking over or running around the layout just think of the racket, sorry not for me.

Hi Pauline and Rick, I think the mystery locos and coaches are modelling on the small narrower gauge railways of Austria and Germany. I travelled in those type of coaches with a similar loco in the Ziller valley in Austria, from Jenbach to Mayrhofen. Jenbach station had three lines, standard gauge OBB, narrow gauge and a clog railway up the mountain. Harry

    • @wellchuffedrailways
      @wellchuffedrailways  2 місяці тому

Hi Harry, I will trust you on that one as you seem more informed than anyone else! It's a nice little layout regardless and hopefully those locos will get fixed at some point. All the best Rick

For me, a locomotive or unit has to come fitted with a sound chip and speaker so that my ANEMODEL LD101 controller is used fully.
