ik he didnt play for a long time but i really think ark was the best mercy... the clip u showed of yveltal pistoling on ilios wasnt even a good play by him.. masaa literally flew AWAY from his team and LOS'd his entire team on his own. OWL players dont play mercy. ark was also a shot caller which makes sense for a mercy since she can sit in the back and spectate the entire game while not having to focus on anything mechanical. yveltal def one of the top choices but he wasnt better than ark.

IMO a lot of what happened was due to over practice and too big of burden on the players. Practicing that much. With little return just breaks anyone. Also in 2022 Void was still quite good. The one stage they looked great Whoru AND Void looked really good.

I feel like this could be said about the Shock too. Who also started at the bottom of the league too. Had a bit of the same trajectories

As bad as 2023 was Shanghai can say they were the only defending champions to win a something after winning it all ( 2020 shock does t count obviously I mean the year the lost ) so if you told 0-40 Shanghai they would have two bad years and it being the Start of OWL and at the end I think they’d be content

Genuinely feel bad for them on meta shift/game change fronts. 2020 could've been so good but they forced a roadhog meta, making teams who'd been solid all year (Paris, Valiant, Mayhem, Charge, NYXL, even Shanghai in the end) lose to mid/inconsistent teams like the Justice and Dynasty. 2022 was meh because most of them didn't do well in 5v5. Like you said with Fleta, it just wasn't his style to hard carry so he "fell off;" you can say similar things about Fate as a main tank transitioning to hard-carry raid-boss solo tank. You have to wonder how they'd have done if the pro scene had kept 6v6...

Striker is undoubtedly the best reaper of all time, you can say its just reaper but he was still better than everyone. The reaper v reaper matchup was the most underrated storyline in the 2022 finals imo. Sojourn got all the spotlight but reaper made so many game turning plays in those finals that were overshadowed, and striker was reaper diffing every other team no question although him and sp9rkle had a couple of back and forth moments sometimes in their match. Shock just lacked a winston player and the insane levels of coordination that the fuel had.

This video hits really close to home to me. I was born and raised two hours south of Boston, so when OWL launched I latched onto the Boston Uprising like a newborn child to its mother. Halfway through the season I was already locked in with Striker as my favorite player. It remained that way for years to come; I loved watching him play, even when it wasn't for my team anymore. The first time he came back to Uprising I could understand; it strange, sure, because I have to imagine he could have had his pick of teams but maybe he just wanted something familiar to go back to. However, after 2022, I couldn't consider him my favorite player anymore. I read a comment once where somebody said, "2022 Proper is what Striker thought he was to the 2022 Boston Uprising" and the fact of the matter is that he isnt that guy. I think you hit the nail on the head when you said that he really didnt play a lot of heroes, but the ones he did play he was top three in. Striker proved that he could never work with anyone other than Crusty; something about Crusty's coaching style, or the way he talks to Striker, or whatever it is, he can only work under Crusty's system and thats why he was never really going to thrive as a pro player. Last thing, I disagree with the comment about Striker being considered one of the best with only one personal award to his name; players like Carpe and Decay have similar amounts of personal awards and we also talk about them in the same capacity.

What people don’t realize is that shock had to play 10 maps total that day that’s a lot of maps where the whole team has to lock in
