It's been a long time since Season 1, so a lot of people forget that pros and analysts actually coined the term "The Jjonak Effect". As in, they would try to replicate NYXL by pocketing their own flex supports. But teams admitted that it actually made them play WORSE overall, because their supports couldn't replicate what Jjonak was doing, and decided to revert away from it. So if anyone accuses Jjonak of simply having those performances solely off of the resources he was given, they should know that other teams tried the same, and didn't get anywhere close to the same result 😂
I know, I was trying to make that point throughout talking about the MVPs, people pocket these players for a reason. Other people did the NYXL strat but failed because Jjonak was just better.
2019 was the hardest MVP decision by far, with every single player on the Shock being arguably the best in the league at their given role. Despite this, we can ALL agree that Chipsa deserved MVP even though he wasn’t in the league yet 💯
I can’t remember who it was but some1 from 2022 shock said in an interview that colugo monkey was better in 2022 than in 2023 because proper was permanent micro managing him. So he’s not only the highest peak we’ve ever seen, but he also did it while thinking for at least 2 people
The arguments for Leave and Proper reminds me of why Vetheo and Jojopyun won MVP in LEC and LCS in lolesports where their team was 4th but without them they'd be like 6th or 7th
Jjonak is probably the most mvp out of all the mvp's he is the only player or atleast the first player that got to design his own skin because he was so dominant and insanely good at the game.
And the only reason is that he was playing dps support 😂 it's like in football where only attackers get ballon d'or minus some rare rare rare exceptions
3:37 that's the most disrespectful clip to use for nenne while also saying he was a top zarya lmfao We all remember this clip right? Think this play was the one that lost them the series and that was a big deal for some reason, I forget the greater context.

I like to toss in the references for long time viewers, the Nenne grav some how ruined his career even though he’s a really good player. All people remember about him is that and completely forget his talent.
jjonak has been the first person I think of when I think OWL or just competitive Overwatch in general. Seeing some of the shit he did made me wanna be good. That block on the Rein charge still pops up in my head when I think of hype OW moments.
hot take but sinatraa might be the worst player on this list. Even if he didn’t left for valorant bro was struggling hard in s3 to adapt to the meta, and id easily take fleta leave or even haksal over him on heroes like mei gengi tracer etc
All of the picks are honestly well deserved except for fleta in my opinion there was just multiple more deserving options than him even on his own team that year he just wasn’t it
Honestly, it's such a bummer that so many cracked players were robbed of the title. The best players of all time would be Leave, Fleta, Birdring, Ans, Lip, Hanbin, Fearless, Profit and Choihobin. They would really need to gain more recognition from the media, not just the fans.
What sets Jjonak, Leave and Proper apart from all the other's for me is how much was entrusted to them by their team and how much they actually could do with the resources. Fleta was great, but so was the entire dragons system. Someone perfectly enabled his team, but he rarely was the big star of the show. Sinatraa was a pop-off player but his success could easily be credited to his team which went on to win another championship without his help. Proper, Leave and Jjonak may have been pocketed insanely hard, but that was because it just worked. Especially for Proper and Leave, their team was so much worse than them (maybe aside of the one superstar on Proper's team, Viol2t) yet they still managed to carry their teams so far. There are countless other teams and players who could try pocketing their teammates the same, but Proper, Leave and Jjonak had such high potential that they could actually utilise those resources and make such a gameplan worth it when others couldn't.
Leave is very impressive in the sense of having. The weakest team out of all the MVPs but still acquiring the award. He did so much for the Chengdu roster in 2021! Especially on Hanzo and Tracer.
It was the backlash from the Sinatraa controversies and it’s just a risk to make anything representing a player because if they go on to do something horrible after winning like murdering a bunch of people for example, the game now has a skin representing that person in their game and they are forced to issue refunds/put out non affiliation posts.
I disagree with your take on Sinatraa dps, well some of it, its true that his may and Genji weren't the best, but like you said his doom was one of the best and also his tracer was top 3 IMO
Good takes. Lots of nostalgia. The segment about Florida and more specifically Someone's hyper flexiblity is absolutely undervalued. Without someone, I believe the outlaws would have won the finals this past year. 5v5 is and always will be a game of counter interaction... Competitively, I do miss the layers of 6v6 quite a bit. The nuance of composition craft and coordination is something simply irreplaceable.

Honestly the only inconsistent players were G9ga and Jinmu, even then Jinmu never had games that lost chengdu the match, he just had a hyper aggressive play style. Also Jinmu was a flex dps, he was signed to play flex, which he did.
Jinmu’s downfall was his Sombra imo it definitely didn’t stack up to the elite sombras in the league, but most flex dps that year played the Tracer role, so forcing him on a hero he likely has less experience on isn’t his fault. When I looked at them in comparison to the other MVPs, the roster skill disparity was insane so I felt Leaves MVP was a harder battle. I’m just saying overall people over exaggerated how bad these players actually were… Leave did carry the team for sure but not to the degree people pretend. Horrible take he carried that shock team to a game 7 grand finals lmfao he also had the best year out of any player in 2022 roty, mvp and a role-star he’s hyped cause he’s an amazing player on a mid team
1: Jjonak. This dude redefined what it meant to play support and was leagues above anyone else on his role. He was on the best team and was the best player on that team. 2: Someone. Someone was a top 3 player at all tank heroes that were played and even top 1 at like half of them (ram, orisa, rein). He matched some of the best players on their onetrick and made a playstyle possible that no other team could match that made Florida the best team of the season. 3: Proper. Proper was the highest peak we have ever seen of a singular player, but not winning a single tournament means i cant put him higher than my 1 and 2 (although I personally think Shock have the best regular season record if you use a logical tiebreaker instead of the random shit that was used to put dallas above shock) 4: Leave. Leave was absolutely insane, but I feel like he is the first MVP in this list that didn't really do anything 'new'. He just did what everyone else was doing, the best. Also not winning anything also hurts Leave. (as a chengdu fan that Shu clip still makes me sad, they were so close :(.) 5: Fleta. I don't agree with you that Fleta wasn't the best at anything. Fleta was a beast this season. 6: Sinatraa. Sinatraa was the best Zarya in the world, but his DPS really wasnt that special. I remember really having no idea who would win MVP this season, while for every otherr season it was crystal clear beforehand. Every nomination had a chance this year I feel. (Also your take that Someone is 30% of Hanbin and Fearless on their heroes is WILD. Someone's Winston was not worse than Fearless' in season 6. Fearless has better primals, Someone has better neutrals. A player I would say is at 30% of Hanbin + Fearless is Punk, one of the only other tank players that can flex really well)
The Shu clutch was awesome but I hate him for it because I wanted Leave to win at least something in his career. It’s hard list to make, you can argue various changes in every spot… it was a fun time putting it together though! When it comes to Someone saying 30% of HanBin/Fearless skill may have been a bit harsh, but I didn’t feel like he was mechanically the greatest at anything, even with Winston (which appeared to be his best hero) He just played everything to a level where not many people could compete with him since sure Someone is not the best Winston player since sliced bread, the guy just had so many pocket picks to counter swap you anyways which is still unreal value from a tank player in the current era… I just don’t call him the best at any hero you know?
@@TheESPER I feel like Someone is one of the most underrated players in terms of how good he is on indivdual heroes. Someone was the best player in the league when he played Winston and Ram for like 90% of regular season lol. Yes his flexibility is his biggest strenght, but it is his flexibility combined with the fact that he will not get outmatched by ANYONE on any hero. I also think Someone has a slightly different playstyle on some heroes than most tank players. For example people say he's not good at Sig because he doesn't try to outplay the other Sig in a Sig mirror, but when Someone is on Sig in not a mirror, I think he is genuinely one of the best Sigma's. He doesn't need to be the best at the mirror because he is the best at countering the other tank on non mirror matchups.
Proper got MVP not winning anything, playing horrible in every final he played and in general, being carried by Hype and good matches against bad teams, Kevster dominated him that whole season and actually got sht done.
I think saying Proper played horrible in every final is a bit of a stretch, but I see your point with him not winning anything making you not hold him as highly.
@@TheESPER Yeah, its the hater in me talking, that being said, no achievements no MVP, still salty that Kevster didnt win when voting closed before the end of stage 4 and Kev won stage 1 and 2 smh.
I was the biggest sinatraa fanboy back then. But everyone on 2019 shocks was the best on their character during goats and most of them were considered the best long after 2019. Like violet super moth choy and rascal who picked up bap so fast that brig goats got obsolete bc of him. They couldve carried all the top 5 zaryas to victory that year bc only the titans were a threat to them.
my prediction of the ranking before watching vid: proper leave someone sinatraa jjonak fleta personal ranking: proper leave sinatraa jjonak someone fleta
In the case of fleta...I would've wanted choi as he to this day is my #1 goat off tank player (love hanbin but I love choi more) With someone I think people need to look at the context of overwatch 2. Tank in the history of this version of the game always has been about flexibility due to the roles impact being questionable.
I would say until Pelican in 2022..i would say, Fleta had the best Echo all time. Since Pelican has eclipsed his Echo a couple fold though.. But at the time his Echo was insane. So he was top tier there. But I'd rank them as "how hard would it have been for this team if another player was in their place through both the season and playoffs" #1. Proper #2. Leave #3. Someone #4. Sinatra #5. Jjonak #6. Fleta (And no I'm not a Shock simp, just Proper is a freak and what they did was freakish to another level imo)
sinattra, jjonak, and proper should be 1-3 in any order imo. If you ask yourself, which mvp's were the biggest no brainer decisions during the league at that time those three run away with it. NO ONE ELSE would have gotten mvp during any 1 of those years, it just wasnt close. Much like unanimous 2016 steph mvp in the NBA
Based on how deserving they were it would go 1. Proper. Top 2 on tracer, took over during playoffs. I dont think I need to glaze proper anymore. 2. Jjonak. The best Zen in the league, statistically one of the few zens that kills tracer more than dies to it. No one comes close except *maybe* Bdosin. 3. Leave. A monster that season. Elevating his good, but not great team to almost winning a stage. LIP was pretty close to him tbh. 4. Sinatraa. He was the best zarya don't get me wrong, but the rest of the team was so stacked that it's hard for me to say with 100% certainty that he deserved it over his teammates. 5. Fleta is meta (Void probably should've got it) 6. Someone. Obviously the best tank during S6, but imo LIP deserved it more. LIP was the meta. The most dominant stage ever was by Reign with LIP at the forefront. The reign ended MSM with 0 loses and 5 map lost, 4 of which was to Houston. The most dominant showing a team has ever done for a stage. The only team to even make the reign sweat was Houston, and even then they dominated them in the finals with a 4-1 score. Someone was obviously great, but he never defined the meta like LIP. Throughout the entire season Florida always looked reachable. Even during playoffs, it still looked like Boston/Houston could pull an upset against them. The same cannot be said for Atlanta.
If anyone disagrees with proper being 1 then your just wrong. He carried that shock team Mikey was mid, kilo was mid, striker was washed, violet was on main support before he became good at it. Colgue and Finn were decent but without proper they aren’t making it to grand finals
This is the biggest cap ever. Mikeyy was good at Ball and Monkey. Coluge was very good, statistically the best Sigma in the league and played whatever the team needed to a compentent level. Finn was a top 5 flex support at this point, Viol2t was very good at MS. He was one of the best brigs in the league at this point, and his Lucio was good. Striker was washed on Tracer, NOT ON REAPER. Kilo was mid, I'll give you that. I do agree that proper was the most deserving MVP, but his team was still great.
@@AgentLando “Mikey was good at ball” lmfao when was ball meta in 2022? Also he’s monkey was mid asf. I already said colgue was good. Striker was definitely washed in 2022 just cause you can play no skill reaper doesn’t make you “good” I agree Finn was a top 5 flex. Violet definitely wasn’t one of the best main supports over Astro, lastro, chrong, chiyo, leejaegon, dude was a feeding freddy on Lucio lmao. Saying this team was “great” is a stretch glads, Dallas, outlaws, Seoul, dragons, we’re all better rosters then that shock team but proper Carried them to a grand finals
I struggled between Leave and JJonak honestly, the only edge I had for Leave was his surrounding team is not anywhere close to as good as Jjonaks. The list is very difficult to be happy with since so much can be moved around.
@@TheESPER fair it’s definitely a hard list to make I just honestly think the gap between leave and lip is pretty small when comparing jjonak to any other flex support at the time
I don't think u understand that when jjonak won MVP, there wasn't even really like a conversation on who should get it, 90% of people would agree that jjonak deserved it that year. With proper we had a lot of conversations about kevster and later hanbin and smurf. Jjonak was just tiers above any other flex support and did so much more than anybody else. I get that it was s1 and you probably forgot, but jjonak was literally definition of HIM
@@alpha_ow5523 I voted for jjonak in season 1 I remember it but there was definitely a lot of discussion between him and carpe as both were thought of as the best in roles in the while it was pretty clear any comparison to proper were pretty unserious

Nah he’s hype is deserved
"Not Atlanta Rein 2023 levels of disappointing." 💀
It’s true
@@TheESPER Undefeated, to losing once to mayhem. Then it went down hill from there, jesus christ
We all know its chipsa
Jjonak the goat
Sinstraa being the best at abusing his gf
Except she proven to be full of shit
U don’t even know what the accusation is 💀
3: Proper. Proper was the highest peak we have ever seen of a singular player, but not winning a single tournament means i cant put him higher than my 1 and 2 (although I personally think Shock have the best regular season record if you use a logical tiebreaker instead of the random shit that was used to put dallas above shock)
4: Leave. Leave was absolutely insane, but I feel like he is the first MVP in this list that didn't really do anything 'new'. He just did what everyone else was doing, the best. Also not winning anything also hurts Leave. (as a chengdu fan that Shu clip still makes me sad, they were so close :(.)
5: Fleta.
Exactly
I think saying Proper played horrible in every final is a bit of a stretch, but I see your point with him not winning anything making you not hold him as highly.
@@TheESPER Yeah, its the hater in me talking, that being said, no achievements no MVP, still salty that Kevster didnt win when voting closed before the end of stage 4 and Kev won stage 1 and 2 smh.
Are they going to have an overwatch esports mvp?
Probably not, they just have LAN MVPs it seems.
Junbin got it during major 1, Shu got it for EWC.
My ranking:
Someone, Sinatraa, Jjonak, Proper, Leave, Fleta. 🤷♂️
my prediction of the ranking before watching vid:
proper
leave
someone
sinatraa
jjonak
fleta
personal ranking:
proper
leave
sinatraa
jjonak
someone
fleta
I feel 1 and 6 are easier to put, the rest is hard. Honestly though, you could argue so many things to change this list around.
What is it with Koreans and esports
bro what is this someone rank. If you take him out they just straight up wouldnt have won the tournament.
Nah bro stole my very original and not at all generic idea (it's cool so idc)
A classic Robinhood maneuver
Esper the goat
In the case of fleta...I would've wanted choi as he to this day is my #1 goat off tank player (love hanbin but I love choi more)
With someone I think people need to look at the context of overwatch 2.
But I'd rank them as "how hard would it have been for this team if another player was in their place through both the season and playoffs"
#1. Proper
#2. Leave
#3. Someone
#4. Sinatra
#5. Jjonak
#6. Fleta
(And no I'm not a Shock simp, just Proper is a freak and what they did was freakish to another level imo)
6:03 to skip sinatraa segment (starts at 3:06)
Proper gang rise up
Someone top 1
sinattra, jjonak, and proper should be 1-3 in any order imo. If you ask yourself, which mvp's were the biggest no brainer decisions during the league at that time those three run away with it. NO ONE ELSE would have gotten mvp during any 1 of those years, it just wasnt close. Much like unanimous 2016 steph mvp in the NBA
Based on how deserving they were it would go
5. Fleta is meta (Void probably should've got it)
Jjonak is the best
Saying this team was “great” is a stretch glads, Dallas, outlaws, Seoul, dragons, we’re all better rosters then that shock team but proper Carried them to a grand finals
holy yap
Stick to shorts and TikToks then
@@TheESPER holy yap
wish we saw the super proper combo… what if he didnt play with plumbers
Ngl, for some reason I can’t have some of these players above the others considering they didn’t win shit 😒
It makes sense, some people go purely based on their season success.
jjonak not number one makes no sense
proper is just a different breed its unfair to have him on this list jjonak and leave should swap in my opinion
Ice cold take: Fleta didn't deserve MVP it should've been viol2t or smurf
Smurf wasn’t in the running, it was ChoiHyoBin and Viol2t for Shock during 2020. They limit candidates to only two per team since the list could be filled with all players from the same 2-3 rosters.
