Cheers for watching Nick! Yeah it is about 40% opened and could easily open more but being quite a slow drinker I would fear a bottle being open too long and would start to dimmish in quality. @@JeffWhisky You're welcome, I enjoy your content. I do have a whisky horde, some 100+ bottles with only about 3 or 4 unopened. I'm not bothered about some bottles being opened too long, but I do make sure all are well sealed and kept in a cool dark cupboard.

I really need to return to it. Last time I had it felt a little limp so hoping this bottle will set the record straight. Is the Victoriana your favourite Glen Scotia? Cheers for watching!

Thanks for the kind words! The clips help give a little breathing space to break up seeing my face constantly it always helps I got years of clips just rolling around my brain. @JeffWhisky tricky to pick out but I'm lucky to have got bottles years back when you could get a Brora 30 for £225 or a Ben Nevis 25 for £90.

@@JeffWhisky Thanks for your reply! I have about 60-70 bottles… Only 3 non-scotch (a bourbon, an Indian and a NZ whisky). Need more world whiskies! Also just 4 or so closed bottles. I definitely drink more than you…. 😂 Oh and i have a golden shirt wooohooooo!!!!

Cheers Sean! I have tried the Green Spot and a couple of their Chateau releases which have been good but not tried the yellow or blue. Which would you say is the better of the two? Cheers.

@@JeffWhisky I personally prefer Yellow Spot for taste & price but even that’s creeping up nowadays. Blue Spot is a big hitter at 58% at 7yrs old, but it’s getting really expensive and plenty of very good Scottish whisky can be had for quite a lot less. If you have a chance to try a dram of Yellow take it. You won’t be sorry.

@@JeffWhisky Collection: about 60 on the 'open shelves' (and yep. wooden and self made). And then the to-be-opened in the cabinet. Amount of peated is limited, think around 15 open... or so.

@@JeffWhisky Ooh good question, got a few bourbons and a few Irish whiskies but mainly scotch single malt (surprise surprise). Put it this way I’ve got enough bottles that will last me a very long time at my current rate of drinking , probably too many.

@@davidowen2834 In the same boat as you! The speed I drink mixed with the amount of bottles and samples I can be preserved for some time!

Yeah, Irish whiskey prices can be really high compared to similar bottles of Scotch or other world whisky. Seems to jump from really cheap entry bottles to mega expensive releases. Cheers.

I was buying a Laphroaig yesterday and the lovely older guy at the check out said he loves single malt scotch but he has turned to some Irish whiskey because he finds it's cheaper. I didn't ask what brands he is buying. Like you I find Irish whiskey can be cheap and lousy or annoyingly expensive! I do like Red Breast CS and Killowen but some are very pricey!

@@JeffWhisky I'm preaching to the pulpit then ..I do the same. Keep them in a cup on the shelf....I find that the wooden Laphroaig and a Glenfiddich for the broader squat bottles like say a tobomory shape .they are actually good go to replacement corks, they cover most bottles. Tobomory as well cover a lot of bottle opening sizes. Does a degraded cork affect the taste of a whisky?... after being kept in the bottle for a long time?...I've never heard this one explained before as regards the effects on flavour, so I presume it doesn't... the cork I was referring to was the very first co op highland 12 single malt. that was sold ...it's lovely whisky it tastes better than the other end of the spectrum in the very latest extra special 12 from the co op . ..I wish I had been able to buy more but there were no more left. Id bought it all ...I wonder if it is from the barrels that didn't fit the expression of the distillery named 12yr expression??... Also .it seems potentially possible, because of the sedimentation in the co op 12 that it contains a portion at least of sherry barrels maturation ...that is an 80 pound bottle at masters of malt I think was where I saw it?.....not 100 per cent sure that's where I saw it but I do know that sherry barrels in aging causes sedimentation in older bottles...and the cases I bought were """found""" out back when closing down and were lower into the shoulder. so it could be possible?? Off the top of my head it must have been around the millennium when these bottles were initially marketed.. although I haven't researched this and it is an approximation .... probably the best ten pound bottles available to humanity..so smoooooth and special. Etc etc etc .😁.... don't see those food porn ads anymore.i suppose that the message has been delivered...in closing..I would recommend anyone who finds any of this whisky at any price to buy it all..your mouth will thank you... really delicious highland malt ..mmmmmmm so special .soooo smoooooth...🤣
