Best ARDBEG? ft The WHISKEY TRIBE!! | Ardbeg Uigeadail Review

  • Ardbeg Uigeadail is it the best Ardbeg? and yes, I managed to get the ‪@WhiskeyTribe‬ involved in a guest slap!
This Ardbeg Uigeadail review is certainly my little homage to both the Whisky Tribe and Whisky Vault who was a key linchpin into my whisky deep dive. Finding their videos early in my whisky journey really showed me that whiskey and humour go hand in hand or in my case, slap in slap.
Cheers to Rex and Brianna for indulging the bottle slap madness, now I just need to get Daniel to join the slapfest!
Of course this had to be compared to the brilliant Ardbeg Wee Beastie, full review of that bottle coming soon!
The Other OGs that I mentioned. Make sure you check them out!

    ------
Also here is what the robots have to say about Ardbeg Uigeadail, do you agree?
Ardbeg Uigeadail is a highly acclaimed and beloved whisky from the Ardbeg Distillery, known for its rich and peaty character. Here's a review of Ardbeg Uigeadail:
Color: Ardbeg Uigeadail has a deep amber hue, with glimmers of copper and gold, indicating its maturation in oak casks.
Nose: The aroma of Uigeadail is a powerful combination of smoky peat, brine, and sweet sherry. It opens with an intense wave of peat smoke, reminiscent of a bonfire on a coastal beach. As you delve deeper, you'll discover notes of dark chocolate, espresso, dried fruits, and hints of vanilla. The sherry influence adds a delightful sweetness and complexity to the overall profile.
Palate: On the palate, Uigeadail is a full-bodied whisky that delivers a symphony of flavors. The peat smoke takes center stage once again, enveloping the taste buds with its earthy and maritime essence. The rich, oily texture coats the mouth, releasing flavors of black pepper, dark chocolate, dried fruits (such as raisins and figs), and a delightful mix of spices. The sherry influence is prominent, providing a sweet and luscious balance to the intense smokiness.
Finish: The finish of Ardbeg Uigeadail is long and satisfying. The smoky and peaty flavors linger, complemented by a gentle warmth that spreads throughout the chest. The sherry influence persists, offering notes of dark berries, oak, and a subtle sweetness that slowly fades away.
Overall, Ardbeg Uigeadail is a masterpiece of peat and sherry maturation. It is a whisky that demands attention and rewards the senses with a complex interplay of flavors. Whether you're a fan of peaty whiskies or seeking a captivating and robust experience, Uigeadail is sure to leave a lasting impression.
And as always, if you made it this far down the description, thanks but you need to be better with your time management!
    Cheers to the next one!
    - Jeff

Apologies that the audio is a little off for this one. Sadly my microphone died so I used the backup recording from my laptop and spent a good 2 hours trying to make it sound as good as possible. Will be waiting till payday before I get a new one so felt this will do for now! Cheers for all the support!

Oh do I live and fabulously adore pretty much all of the Ardbeg core line!! The special releases are completely hit and miss and I am concerned about the heightened prices. Yikes. Customers don’t like to be exploited. I love them though and UIG is my fav. I’ve had many but expressions but I keep coming back to UIG!! It is a favourite distiller along with Lagavulin. Wow colour is added? I have never heard that before. Very disappointing. Frankly it’s unacceptable in this day and age of customers demanding higher quality integrity. Fab video!!

Hi Christine, super sorry for the delayed response, took a little break from all things UA-cam. Great choice with the Uig being the best Ardbeg, think I am in complete agreement with you there!
With regards to added colour, I have heard mixed things, I did check with a pretty reliable source when preparing for this video and while Ardbeg don't seem to state either may more folk thing it is non coloured. Fingers crossed it is just me getting it wrong and we can enjoy that natural presentation.
Thanks for watching, glad to have you along for the ride! Cheers

@@JeffWhisky ha, good question...I had the chance to try some great Ardbegs in the past (such as 1970s vintages single casks, old "Guaranteed 30 yo", crazy indies, etc...), but I was unlucky as a collector with 2 times in a row corked bottles of the "Ten" (& certified as such after giving them back to the shop owner/whisky expert & now distiller), so despite decent tastings of it in shows I decided in 2007 not to ever buy one again, but finally on an "offer" locally, I bought a bottle earlier on this month to see if I can "reconciliate" with it...(I'm waiting for the temperature to decrease to open it). I have 4 Ardbeg only in my collection (for for instance 14 Bowmore !) & my favorite are passed OB bottlings such as the "Almost There" I have, or the indie one I have (an Elements of Islay/E.D.)...I like some of their core range or ltd releases proposals "Uigeadail" or ""Wee Beastie" or 19 yo T.B., for instance, but got put off a lot this last decade by too much hype & marketing tricks to make us buy a slighty different variant of the Ten but priced 40 € more...some of these yearly limited releases were decent, but many were quite average imho...so, no it is not my favorite active Islay distillery if you ask me...Also the profile of this distillery's bottlings have changed a lot since I started my whisky journey, they are way more "civilized" or tamed than say 15 years ago...think of a very dirty & dusty Longrow & you might get the picture...

@@JeffWhisky Yep there is some suspense about this new Ten uncorking...I love Bowmore yeah & disagree with many about the distillery, even if I'm conscious of the limit of the core range (I'll ceetainly do a Bowmore overview update-I did 3 videos already about my collection, mind you) as I bought recently batches of the "Legend" & 12 yo that were way better than say 10 years ago (as my compatriot Serge pointed it recently), a miracle...About the old Uigeadail & even the 10 yp in 2002 I even thought of a creepy London fog & some gothic bog near a cemetery (lol), and very green if you ask me ! Totally disgusting for the beginner in peat I was !

@@JeffWhisky "Better" is very subjective to individual tastes. I have five different Ardbegs of their core line open right now that I'm sampling and my personal opinion, if I had to rank them in order, would be Corryvreckan, Wee Beastie, Uigeadail, Ardbeg 10, An Oa. They are all very good, but good for different reasons. I find it easier to compare the Corry/Uigea to each other and Beastie/10 to each other.
