Starting my day with this video - and just can't stop laughing! The numerous cuts to movie scenes are just so good, I'll have to go back and watch it again. On top of that I love your deadpan delivery and the keenly-judged timing and pacing, which is so important to getting the humour right. Deftly done. I think you've hit on a rich vein of whacky whisky presentation which, strangely enough, is complemented by some excellent whisky analysis. In between all the fun here lies a keen dissecting of Wee Beastie's strengths and weaknesses as a young peater (as an added bonus to an already excellent video). I find myself very much in agreement with your tasting notes and comments. I future, I think I'm going to have to stop myself from slapping every bottle that falls into my hands. Thank you Jeff! Cheers.
Russell, comments like this really makes the hours spent making these dodgy videos worthwhile! I think I have a bit of a unique approach to whiskytube and seemed to have found my slapfilled space amongst other great Whisky folk. Thank you for the kind words, slap your bottles with pride!
Cheers Alan, it is well worth it when on offer. I did have a sample of the Ten last night, and for me I think the Ten came out the winner. Look forward to hearing your thoughts on it!
Slapp the Beastie. Thanks for shining a light on this whisky, Mr. Slapper. For me definately not the best in the range, but a pleasant dram it is. Slàinte mhath
Nice one Jeff, I do enjoy the Wee Beastie. For some reason I find the Lagavulin 8 more young and brash than this one so between young Islay whiskies this would be my pick. Cheers!
I am going to do a compare of the Lagavulin 8 and 16 soon, I personally have never picked up the brash-ness but will be on a mission to find it. The Wee Beastie certainly pulls no punches at 5yo. Cheers
A few months after they first launched the Wee Beastie the Ardbeg Ice Cream Van was rocking up for Halloween in Edinburgh - gotta say, Wee Beastie ripple is a winner.
I can't see myself buying this one Jeff. the 10 yr is only a few $$ more down here in Aus. When discounted they are both below the hundred mark which helps. but I think I'll keep with the 10 . love the bolder peaters. AL
I think that you are making the right choice there Al, I recently enjoyed the Ardbeg Ten and it felt a bigger jump in quality to the 5 than I remember. Cheers!
I agrée about the silly scratch mark on the label. I generally agree with this review; it’s less beastlike than I was expecting, but the tasting notes are generally right up my alley. Actually, now that I think In it, I’ve still only gone my uncorking review of mine. I’d better get onto that shoulder-pour review… Oh, the value is pretty low in my province though. It costs almost as much as the 10.
Cheers! Looking forward to the shoulder pour review and seeing your thoughts on how it changed from first sip! Cheers for being a brilliant guest slapper!
haha I can confirm Lemon Juice is not a good with pancakes (or on its own) It seems to be a big think in the UK to add to them. I personally am more of a banana and nutella fan! Cheers.
Think this is the worst designed label on bottles of Ardbeg. That includes all the special releases. Comes off tacky. Scored higher than I would have given it.
I think that could be true. I like that they tried to do something different and it is far from a bad logo but due to the high standard of Ardbeg designs it struggles to stand out from the pack. Cheers!
Hi budy Jeff Whisky. Ardbeg Wee Beastie 5 year old Islay Scotch was my first Ardbeg and have the best value for price. In my supermarket is for 160 zł ( = 31 £) . See yeaa to the next time. Slant math
Cheers, Cezary. A great entry into Ardbeg, have you dived further into their bottles? P.S I need to work out how to pronounce your name in the Members list!

That was a class cameo from Jesse
It was about time I was pulled up on my reckless slapping! Another great guest slapper in the books!
"what did you do" Sums up all of Jeff Whisky videos. Great review of a great bottle
haha it was a very apt clip! Cheers Wineway for watching
Brilliant review Jeff. As an Ardbeg fan I oddly don’t have this on my shelf. May need to change that
Give it a go I hope you like it. The notes I'm getting with my bottle, which Jeff didn't with his are farmy funky & creosote, enjoy.

@@grahamcartwright5141 creosote is a great shout Graham, like chemically tar.
I just bought a new bottle! Love this Ardbeg!! 🙂
We all make mistakes... like reviewing Ardbeg over Laphroaig. Nice one champ.
haha More Laphroaig will be coming soon. Are you fully team Laphroaig over Ardbeg? Cheers
Slapp the Beastie.

Cheers Peathead, what would be in your top Ardbeg list? Slap on and Slàinte
@@JeffWhisky If I stick to core range and a max price of 2 digits: Correyvreckan and 10yo
@@peathead4450 The Correyvreckan, is on the hit list to try now! Cheers.

Beastie Ripple sounds amazing. I am a fan of PX Sherry on vanilla but this could be next level...
@@JeffWhisky We used to do a Px Affogato. 11/10. No notes.

*Double take* lemon juice on pancakes??? I know maple syrup may not be as readily available but surely there's another alternative!?

I'm getting older and the younger whisky is getting better. Let's keep it like that.
You're getting wiser and the whisky is getting better. what a time to be alive. Cheers Tim!
It's pretty good value here in the US ... but not nearly as good as what you've been able to buy it for. Cheers.
I am glad to hear the value is good, is there a big difference between this and other Ardbegs? I do pride myself on my bargain hunting skills 😂
