It’s also a part of the integration understanding how Dutch people truly feel about speak Dutch with foreign speakers, I never had that before never and if I tell this to Dutch people they will be surprised that we think this.

We also like play. Games, play on words, finding joy in sport, mental and physical challenges, you name it. I think that also contributes to mental health!

I guess Dutch woman understand how to function in sink in Dutch customs and manners to the point that it makes foreigners very confused how to date Dutch people in general. It may come over as rude and mean, but i have to make clear that foreigners choose to come here and expecting their way of friendship and dating manners to work lol.. But like everyone else, Dutch people are their own personality and having their own qualities and talents, it really depends from person to person. Its all the same for Dutch people living in other countries and having to change their other customs so they can function in other cultures. I do hope you have your luck here having to date a Dutch guy here and understanding how things actually work.. 👍👍 My advise is, take it easy and chill, Dutch men do not ask for too much otherwise just to get to know you better, then and they will do the effort to know you.. I hear that foreigners are often very alone and not be able to make friends and contact with Dutch people.

I can agree with all other points but not about healthcare. The GP is the gatekeeper of the system so it his/her job to triage patients and only let real patients through to hospital or specialist. The system is preventive in case of vaccinations and education, but indeed not for expensive and unnecessary screening where hardly any health issue is discovered. Every foreigner is comparing to their home country circumstances, but in that case you shouldn’t go to another country. You are in a new country and it has a different culture. Deal with it, our system works. Health issues, if they need caring of, is discovered in almost all cases. Only not for fake patient complaints. By exaggerating your symptoms you are making the system unnecessarily expensive. And we don’t have a higher death rate or misdiagnosed cases than other countries. Don’t go to a GP for the flu, stay at home in bed until it’s over, let it run its course first, or ‘out-sick’ it like we say in Dutch (uitzieken). You’re giving the wrong impression to newcomers on this point.

You have to educate yourself before commenting... Social media influence, internet and smartphone usage are big factors....as well as comparison, fast-paced life, etc.
