Siargao doesn't has comparable surfing potential with Bali, you got less crowded, maybe (doubt about this in case with cloud9) but in exchange you lose the quality and consistency of the waves that Bali has to offer. The Mentawais is way more worthy the comparison with Bali, with lesser crowd, other than Mentawais? Nias, Asu, Telos, Banyaks, Krui, Panaitan, G-Land, Lombok, West Sumbawa, Sumba all the way to Rote & Timor, for surf Siargao is overhyped beyond it's potential.
Hey hello :) Do you think January is a good time to visit the island? I'm reading a lot of negative feedbacks talking about constant rain, wind etc. but I could go there only that month. I would be there just for a few days, would it be worth the visit?
Indonesian currency is lower than Filipino currency. I want to visit this island also but I have no plans yet. How many days does it take to fully enjoy the island during Dec-Jan?
Mentawai islands is wayyy better, fortunately it's low key tourism there, the real surfers paradise, not Bali wannabe without temples. Bankvault, Hollow trees, No Kandui, Greenbush, Rifles, E-bay, Telescopes, Playgrounds and so many others are more worthy to be compare with uluwatu's padang-padang and the bombie.

@@torturingchief344It's known as the surfers paradise since 3 decades ago and still is now, thanks to the mentawaians. It's one of famous surfers favourites, but not for mass tourism. There's surf tax applied to surf there,about US$ 128 per-15 days as we speak. Even Anthony kiedis of RHCP visited the islands recently, you bet that kind of public figure don't want to waste his time in some unsafe place.
