Dropping some of my faves: I love Bobby's and Mangiare in Kleineberg, Trafalgar pub in Dommelstraat, Downtown Gourmet Market and Sissyboy's little cafe upstairs!
I'm not into partying and going out anymore, so no surprise you showed a lot of places I never heard of, despite only living a short distance away. Good to see you seemed to be reasonably comfortable interviewing people :o). Hope you'll have a wonderful 2024.
I'm with you on this. Thank you for watching and commenting. It was still outside of my comfort zone but I think this one went smoother than the video of interviewing people in Amsterdam :P Have a beautiful 2024 too! ✨🙌
Just down the road from Eindhoven is the village of Veldhoven. A company called ASML is located there. This is the most important company in the world. It produces the machines that produce 90% of the top end microchips in the world
Yeah, while I understand what a lot of people think of Eindhoven (ugly, industrial, not historical), I tend to disagree. It has been bombed during the war, and then quickly rebuilt to accommodate the expansion of Philips and other industries. The history therefore is very interesting, and you can see and follow this history with the city's architecture. Maybe indeed not the most interesting place for tourists, especially if you would like to visit a more idyllic, charming place while traveling. For this, stick to Maastricht, Utrecht, Haarlem, Leiden, etc. But for living, or for visiting if you already live elsewhere in the NL, Eindhoven offers many interesting sites and great quality of life. Extremely walkable city, 2nd greenest in the NL, and offers everything you might need. After almost 9 years here, I still think it's an extremely pleasant place to live. A few recommendations below (excluding large chain stuff, let's support local businesses!): To eat: - La Vita è Bella (authentic pizza) - Asmara, Gazana, Ethiopisch (east african) - Dr. Feelgood's (burgers) - Nico's (mexican) - Falafel Msaters (middle-eastern) - Valli's Corner (malaysian) - Spaans Centrum (spanish) - Xu Noodle (ramen) - Martin Zwerts (best fries in town) - Restaurant Iris (veggie) - Meneer De Boer (breakfast / brunch) - OST (contemporary) - De Kaarseboom (dutch! and a nice terrace) To drink: - Ketelhuis - Altstadt - Van Moll - Café Wilhelmina - Brouwerij Het Veem - 100 Watt - Popei - Blue Collar - Hoogste Tijd - La Folie Coffee: - Sprout Coffee Roasters (specialty) - Zwartwit Koffie (specialty) - Stadsbranderij / BeanBrothers (specialty) - Bakkie 040 - Velosoof - Koffiehuisje - Koffie Keuten Baked/sweets: - Bakhuisje (bakery) - Pinkie Patisserie (pastries) - Bakkerij Bruxelles (Moroccan - have their msemen) - Stadsbakkerij Broodt (bakery) - Sourmate (bakery) - Pastryclub (pastries) - Dutch Homemade (ice-cream and macarons) - Intelligentia (ice-cream) - Ijssalon Firenze (ice-cream) - Ijssalon La Toscana (ice-cream) Parks: - Philips de Jonghpark - Anne Frankplantsoen + Dommelplantsoen + Stadswandelpark + Genneper Parken - Karpendonske Plas - Philips van Lenneppark - Stratumse Heide Culture: - Lab 1 (cinema) - NatLab (cinema) - Sectie-C (artist hub) - Piet Hein Eek (artist hub) - Van Abbemuseum, Philips Museum and DAF Museum (typical) Shopping: - YatvaVintage - Karoesell Kringloop - Deensekroon - Urban Shopper Strijp-S
Eindhoven is (and was) the center of Dutch technology. Like Silicon Valley. It's a very important city even worldwide. Maybe once you're finished eating and drinking, you could look into that.
@@theselfishcodependent No thanks necessary. Love will always find the way of least resistance. Like water. But checking the link, yeah. You did look into that.
I'm 54 and my wife and I are VERY worried about our future, gas and food prices rising daily. We have had our savings dwindle with the cost of living into the stratosphere, and we are finding it impossible to replace them. We can get by, but can't seem to get ahead. My condolences to anyone retiring in this crisis, 30 years nonstop just for a crooked system to take all you worked for.
I feel your pain mate, as a fellow retiree, I’d suggest you look into passive index fund investing and learn some more. For me, I had my share of ups and downs when I first started looking for a consistent passive income so I hired an expert advisor for aid, and following her advice, I poured $30k in value stocks and digital assets, Up to 200k so far and pretty sure I'm ready for whatever comes.
@@FlorentGulliver The crazy part is that those advisors are probably outperforming the market and raising good returns but some are charging fees over fees that drain your portfolio. Is this the case with yours too?

I have been a resident for 23 years. I don't like this city at all. It's a shame I'm broke, because I'd have moved to a different city or even country. Boring, lifeless city full of wankers

Beautiful! I share the perspective that Eindhoven might not be the first place that comes to mind for tourism but for living, it's very comfortable. 🙏
Lab-1 is a nice place, there are free language lessons for expats once every two weeks. And a lot of other activities.
