Great interview Pete and Fitz! I disagree, even though I am from DFW I think it is great for the XII to spread its wings! I think they should do more meetings tournaments games etc in some of the cities across the Big 12 footprint!

This gets a down vote from me because everything the bald k state guy said was wrong. Big 12 fans are delusional. I had no idea they were this bad. FSU and Clemson are too good for the Big 12. They will never join the Big 12. Let's just start with the most obvious points: 1) Big 12 isn't the P2 (revenue, power, prestige); that's where FSU and Clemson are heading 2) Big 12 can't afford FSU and Clemson; PE is not the panacea you think it is, won't be as much as you think it will be, and to have any chance at all of even making FSU and Clemson interested in the Big 12, almost all the PE revenue would have to go to FSU and Clemson to put them in part with P2 3) FSU and Clemson aren't signing a long term deal with the Big 12; there would be guaranteed, no-cost "outs" built into their "membership" In other words: ZERO CHANCE ANY OF THIS HAPPENS!

Eh, Big 12 will be at 20 schools in the next 5-6 years. Who the 4 are? Idk. But the ACC will fall apart and the Big 12 will get either a couple of really good ones or 4 decent ones. I’m just glad SMU will be back into the abyss of nothing. Screw those guys and their 7 fans.

About the Las Vegas thing, if you understand game theory, then you understand that Las Vegas is where a player clears their economic hand for another hand. This move suggests that Yormark is trying to elevate the economic hand of the Big 12 for improved media deals and creative financing deals with private equities. You may want to look up "game theory" and see how it applies to your business.

Just to educate people on private equities. Private equity firms get funding from university endowment funds in order to acquire businesses and other portfolio assets. These businesses that are part of a private equities portfolio can invest or sponsor collegiate athletics Private equities can also invest in companies that invest in media rights of conferences with a seat on the media rights company board of directors. So, there is a cycle that can get more focused to benefit the university endowment funds.

Pete, If you want to know who is leaking the information, you may want to revisit what Brett Yormark said at media days last week. It is his intent to make the Big 12 a P1 conference. Now, how is he supposed to do this without adding some serious contenders to the gauntlet the Big 12 already offers? The AD of UCF also gave clues about states who would be joining the Big 12 in an interview with BYUSN. I know there is a lot to cover here. I trust those who are in the negotiating room with a seat at the table more than those who are not. You may want to look at it deeper to get the real stories.

Disney & ESPN will never renew their contract with the ACC after 2026-2027. It’s about money 💰 They will ship the best teams to the Big 12 . There will only be 3 Power Conferences after 2027 . The TV NETWORKS are gonna determine who gets a landing spot in the 3 Power Conferences

17:15 Pete, I can 100% assure that FSU is not or ever will be a school that shall not be named of being arrogance and greed. That school is the only school I knoe by far that can throw their weight around and get things their way, FSU isn't that and thats what makes the new Big 12 and the new SEC great. That game they have been playing has ended the moment they left conference.

Texas may not have been the best Big 12 member relationship wise, but the Big 12 did make some stupid decisions. Not agreeing to a Big 12 network, not taking ACC schools when they had a chance when Maryland went to B1G… Things that Texas wanted and was correct about. Then Texas did what everyone else didn’t like… sold their 3rd tier rights for more money. Well, that could have been avoided if better decisions were made.

FSU and Clemson won't be in the B1G...they are not AAU. Case closed. FSU and Clemson don't add enough to the SEC...they SEC already has FL and SC and adding the 'secondary' schools from eah of those states won't be a big enough add for them (Not knocking FSU and Clemson at all). These two have two options...the ACC or the B12. That's it.

Can't see the B1G taking Clemson & FSU. The AAU designation is a big deal to them, and they were not happy when Nebraska gave it up. Also, it doesn't appear that either school would improve the revenue situation. The same holds true for the SEC. Doesn't do anything to grow the SEC footprint. If the B1G wants girth, I could see them taking someone like UNC before FSU as UNC has AAU designation. In addition, I don't see the SEC concerned enough to see the Big 12 as a threat. The idea of FSU and Clemson going to the Big 12 is predicated on the thought that neither of the other two conferences wants them. I'm sure either would prefer the B!G or SEC, but that may not be a reality. As for ESPN, they certainly don't want to break up the ACC, but that suit is starting to get messy. As I understand it, FSU has won the right to all internal communications involving the last media rights deal. That can't be good for either the ACC or ESPN. It might be decided that it's better to just let them leave. All I know is that I'd love to be a fly in the room where this is all being discussed, and that in the end, it will be TV that dictates the final decision. ESPN may have to renegotiate the contract to save the conference and keep the B1G from plucking schools if additional girth is their goal.

Good clarification of the rumors/reports Mr. Mundo. As an Arizona Wildcat fan who has been following your channel for a year since the break up the Pac 12, I have enjoyed your coverage of the Big 12 conference. I don't claim the UA should have much say in the acceptance of new schools into the league, but I wouldn't want to see any university join with a different share of tv revenue like FSU and Clemson would require. I am glad the Big 12 took us in since our last AD mortgaged the athletic department to the point we needed the Big 12 tv revenue to have a shot at not going belly up. So, the UA is blessed to be with the Heartland.

I think I heard Kurtz say that Dellinger accurately predicted the PAC 12 breakup, so that is why some people tend to hang on his every word, and/or misconstrue them to get clicks. Anyway it is ESPN and FOX who will decide where FSU and Clempson ultimately end up, notwithstanding any private equity

You are being obtuse. Teams want to beat Colorado. They hate all the attention that they get. Colorado will have the most watched games of the Big 12 next year. Juat check the ratings from last year.
