Big 12 would have a big feather in hat. If Miami joined b12, it would have the two largest
Markets and fastest growing in state of Florida with ucf/Orlando and Miami

Miami would be a nice addition for UCF to have an in-state rival. And it could rekindle the ole Big East matchup of Miami and West Virginia. They played every year from 1991-2003. It would be a great rivalry within the Big 12.
What would suck if the ACC collapses with Florida State and Clemson leaving and possibly Miami is that SMU just joined in a desperate attempt to be in a P5 conference. SMU took a terrible deal and they need to be in the B12 not the ACC. That’s dumb.

If the ACC sinks like the Titanic i see Miami in the Big 12. FSU will go to the BIG. UNC and Clemson may go to the SEC. VT, Pitt, Louisville and NCS will get nervous and join the Big 12. I don't believe the BIG want two Florida teams and the SEC doesn't want Miami either.

@@tarheel7406 if the mid range teams leave there is NO conference. Why don't you understand this ? The lower end teams will be forced to the AAC. Why would they stay there when there is more security in the Big 12. Even Miami wants out from what I understand. They would probably end up in the BIG 12 cause the SEC doesn't want them and the BIG would only take them if they don't get FSU. By the way, they will get FSU.

@@ChrisSadowski-pp1np The new BIG12 is the bottom of the original BIG12, plus G5s, plus PAC refugees. Why don't you understand this? The BIG12 is not and won't be some lower but acceptable P3. There is no purpose for an even larger, wider and more diverse Tier 2 BIG12.

@@tarheel7406 in one year ESPN will choose to not "opt in" to the contract extension if their top brand FSU is gone. They will leave. The BIG wants them and they will get them. Then it's lights out for the ACC. There is no conference without FSU, they are the top brands in football. Clemson and UNC to the SEC, mid range schools plus Miami to the BIG 12. That just leaves everyone else for the AAC.

    • @tarheel7406
      @tarheel7406 5 місяців тому

@@ChrisSadowski-pp1np There is no reason to believe that ESPN won't renew even if the ACC loses its top teams. Again, the new BIG12 is the benchmark for a fully depleted/backfilled former peer major. That is the assumption for the future ACC.
      a) No new BIG12 and future ACC member will be competitive in the future P2 world.
      b) The BIG12 is already waning from its recent men's basketball peak.
      c) The BIG12 is the worst P4 in overall sports and academic prestige.
Given this reality, why would an ACC remainder move to the new BIG12 over a viable surviving ACC? Why would the PAC, BIG12 and ACC remainders want to consolidate to dilute rivalries and increase travel expenses?

Miami is headed to the BIG10 with ND, makes 20 teams in the BIG10. FSU, Clemson, UNC, UVA headed to SEC makes 20 teams. BIG12 gets picks from everyone left in the ACC.

I don’t think people understand that right now it’s not about Miami going to the big 12 it’s about the SEC and Big Ten not adding Miami and if Miami is not added to one of those two conferences, they will be without a pi power five real conference. they will have to join the big 12. Now that’s again in a scenario that the Big Ten in the SEC don’t pick them up the SEC doesn’t need Miami if they’re going to add Florida State they will have Florida and Florida State Miami makes sense going to the Big Ten with its academics but rumor is Florida State might get plucked by the Big Ten so it just depends on where Florida State goes but I still think Miami joins one or the other before they join the big 12.

Pete, I'm not gonna lie, conference realignment 3.0 or whatever we are up to is not compelling content for me and I suspect a lot of other people. If the ACC implodes, as I believe it probably will, I really don't give a damn where the former Atlantic Coast Conference teams end up. If we have to deal with a lot of grousing and complaining about joining this conference like we've gotten from Utah, then hard pass on that crap. Let them go independent or join the Atlantic 10 conference or wherever they can find a conference that will take them. I really don't care to hear any more about it.

The ACC dissolution is less compelling than the Pac. I think that's because the Pac was running against its own contract expiration, and it was Yormark's action - cutting in line - that created the opportunity. It felt like a Big 12 awakening from the dead. Plus, the Pac schools were so elitist and bumbling. The ACC situation, on the other hand, is all outside the control of the Big 12, and feels like the final stage of building the P2. We're just waiting for potential scraps, after all the lawsuits settle. There is no Colorado to the Big 12 first domino here.

Creative how? Innovative, _how?_ You didn't really convey any actual information there.
_Supposed_ Power 2? Of course Miami fans will be disappointed to end up in that _other_ conference. You can tell them to be happy about it, but they aint gonna. The B1G and SEC _are_ bigger and better and wealthier. ... but I do agree that Miami fans should temper their expectations a little and try to develop a bit more realistic understanding of their station -- they are _well_ down the list of programs of interest to the SEC and B1G.
But they _will_ be disappointed to land in the BIG-12. Utah fans are not super excited about where they've found themselves either. There is *_no_* program in the BIG-12 that wouldn't jump at the chance to go to the Power 2.
And speaking of jumping at the chance to go to the Power 2, you can expect a lot of that from your best players, in the Portal.
