Can I save this £85 eBay guitar find?
Переглядів 61 тис.10 місяців тому
Well it was a bit of a nightmare purchase but we got it sorted in the end! It wasn't a particularly difficult guitar to fix but it definitely wasn't "very good condition" like the eBay ad said! I suppose what do you expect for £85? Anyway, it was fun and thanks for being here 🙏 p.s. the coil split I wired in sucks so I'll be removing that... let's push to 10k subs! INSTAGRAM - gia...
How to wire guitar tone and volume in one push-pull pot
Переглядів 14 тис.11 місяців тому
Easy tutorial on how to solder a push pull pot to give both volume and tone controls on the same pot. If you like what you see here and you want more please let me know in the comments. The volume control works when the pot is pushed down and the tone works when the pot is pulled up. White the pot is pushed down the tone is always on. I believe you can do this so when pushed down the tone is of...
Cheap Squier Stratocasters are better when modified
Переглядів 187 тис.11 місяців тому
COMPETITION IS OVER - NO ONE GUESSED IT Congrats to Joao Saldanha (Jqo jsi) from Brazil who won this at random. The colour was Manilla Green btw. Some simple Squier mods to make it better than a standard Mexican Fender - there's no magic recipe but a good setup and some hardware improvements will go a very long way. Also, don't mess up putting the tuners on if they're staggered, like I did! I w...

    Weird that they build the body with that many pieces. 3 piece no name bodies with one being the center block aren’t expensive and dried well enough to be ready to work on. Got one myself made out of alder and another made out of mahogony, the latter had to rest at a dry and warm place for a year before it got it’s paintjob. Anyway, as long as the pieces are matched and the woodglue is high quality it doesn’t matter.

    Im a lifelong ibanez, esp, jackson, charvel player who NEVER owned a fender. I recently picked up a highly modified Squier SONIC ! I was enticed by the overwound Alnico 2’s and the price…$180 to my door. Granted this Sonic had all hardware pups and electronics upgraded, frets crowned leveled and polished, but it is one of the nicest playing and sweetest tone of any guitar ive had in over 30 years. I definitely see value in modding these entry level guitars. Honestly sounds and plays as good, if not better than guitars 3-4x the price.

    all the old growth timber has been cut down, why waste solid timber under paint finish? we have ourselves to blame, buying guitars on a whim meant there was a big industry making junk guitars for the secondhand market.

    Serious question what would happen if you paint on top of a Nitro finish already? Without stripping the original paint.

    • @Giant_Guitars
      @Giant_Guitars 15 днів тому

      Depends on a few factors but this is totally doable you just want to prep it properly. Essential you're using the original paint as a base coat but you need to factor in potential paint reactions etc. I have sprayed nitro lacquer as a base coat before putting colour on and that has worked just fine for me.

  • @easyazpie9091
    @easyazpie9091 23 дні тому

    Theres a reason why Strats are designed that specific way....especially the pick ups. That distinct twang sound is with 3 single coil pickups setup to play together. The headstock as well...notice how strat heads allow the strings to be inline straight to the tuning keys. Designed to stay in tune with the whammy. (the dreaded G string never stays in tune on other models .Strings are not inline with the tuning keys..they suffer from the string bend at the nut). Your guitar is a monster. Especially using John Mayers name lol.

    You would have saved yourself a ton of time and tape by only using two pieces of tape and doing one fret at a time, moving the same pieces up the neck as you move on to the next 👍🏻

    Amazing results dude. The only way I can see to make this even cooler, would be by replacing the entire rosewood fingerboard for a super dark, almost jet black, ebony fingerboard. Make this thing a black hole that's shaped like an SG 😂
