The things parents do for their children. It's great looks really nice and even if your son doesn't understand right now how special this gift is hopefully he will when he's a bit older. You did very well on this build Sir. With a day or two more it would have been finished and great. Hope you are well now and are over what ever sickness you were suffering from in the build
Thank you Robert! I am just about better now and will get it fixed as soon as he stops playing around with it and won't notice it disappearing for a few days 😂 thanks for the love and hope you have a good new year etc 👍
Dude, you are such an awesome parent to do this for your kid. This just reminds me how much my parents loved me enough 5 years ago to buy me that Squier Stratocaster beginner package, and now I'm playing in a band with an Ibanez Genesis that I invested in. It's these little things that will keep your kid going. This is very heartwarming, well done sir.
Thank you for your kind words bud 🙏 I'm definitely lucky that I'm in the position to be able to do this for my son, and hopefully much more in the future! Your story sounds great too! What's your bands name? I'll follow and sub to the band.
Nice work Pop! I made an electric for my son when he graduated high school in ‘01; he gigs with it, gets a lot of questions about it, and recently got a tattoo of it. I don’t know who’s enjoying it more, him or me!
You're a really cool dad. Is for back is that child's memory goes damn near he's going to have that guitar. Built for him by his dad which will mean a lot to him.
Yeah it totally has destroyer vibes and I think I sub consciously went Ibanez - esque on the headstock haha. And thank you bud I really do appreciate it 🙏
Dude I wanna hear it when it’s finished! When he’s 25 and on some giant stage somewhere, he’s gonna tell the story of this guitar, then pull it out and rock the fu*k outta the place! What a gift.
I promised some to another guy on here but I'll certainly send you some too, email me and we'll sort it out - shop@giantguitars.co.uk or talk to me directly on Instagram if that's easier for you
Well, thats really a awesome present. Amazing. I mustn't my 8 year old twins let see this or I have to build two of these guitars and I'm afraid, I would not be able to do this...
Haha you should try, building two could be a fun challenge! I do have a daughter as well so I'll have to build her one at some point, thankfully she was happy with a kids piano this year!
It's a pleasure watching you work 🙌🏼💙 You have amazing skills. Make sure to take the best care of yourself that you can 😉🙏🏼 so you can build many more guitars and play them with your family for many years to come. 🙏🏼
@Giant Guitars It's from the heart. There was a time I didn't treat my health very well and I wasn't as strong as I could be for my family. It's easy as a man to forget we have to take care of ourselves and we're not made of steel. But we need to be around for them for the long haul. All the best, my friend 🙏🏼🤘🏼👍🏼
@@Giant_Guitars I still could make something cool, just not with the lathe, I'd have to rig something up either with my dremel or something to make it work
Love this idea too! I still haven't wired it up so that's exactly what I'll do, thanks 🙏. I'll see if I can do a video/tutorial on that as well, it's something I've never done so could be fun!
This is at the same time impressive and heartwarming! Did you actually install the wiring? I'm curious to hear what this thing sounds like through an amp!
Yeah there's an auction I go to and someone sells a lot of timber and live edge slabs already processed and dried for cheap, I think that piece in the video plus a few other bits you don't see cost me like £8.
Yes it's the Syn Gates signature Seymour Duncan Invader lol - and me too 😂 I haven't had a chance to do it yet and want to fill a few worm holes while I do it but the wee man is so attached to it he'll not be happy if it goes missing for days while I do that. Hopefully get it done next month!
No not yet! I want to finish it properly at the same time (more coats of finish and polished etc) plus fill a few small worm holes I didn't do. This means it'll have to disappear for a few days and the little man is far too attached to it for me to do that yet 😂 he'd take it to bed with him if we let him right now. Hopefully in a few weeks I'll be able to steal it away for a couple of days.
What a dad!!! Well done mate. Tell him I ALSO have a blue Explorer I made last year. But tell him his is much cooler because his dad made it for him and I had to make my own. Buncha build videos and play demos on my channel if you want to show him. BTW I see you use holly. I remember someone asking on one of Bens from Crimson Guitars live streams about using holly for a guitar build. Was that you by chance?
Thank you mate 😁 I'll be sure to show him your videos and tell him! No that wasn't me asked that about holly. I picked up the holly from a local auction for cheap and gave it to my brother who builds acoustic guitars but it was no good for him so thought I'd try a resin experiment with it for my little man instead!
@@Giant_Guitars Well done in any case. Cant wait to hear it played. Hopefully you got pictures or videos of his first impression. I missed a lot of that stuff with my boy as he was growing up.
Because he'll appreciate this one more as he grows up and I hope that it'll become a great memory for him, I'm ok that he can't play it but he definitely cares about it and loves it! Also I did it a lot for me too as an experiment and a bit of fun (up until the point I got sick then it was miserable 🤣)

That kid is going to be a Rockstar, his guitar is built from Holly-wood!
🤣 very good!
Nyuk nyuk nyuk…
Man his taping skills are impeccable! I have never seen anyone tape that fast! That was amazing!
Trade secrets, can't reveal it sorry!
I'm normally not a fan of the Explorer body-style, but that build looks pretty neat with that blue resin-stripe running through
Thank you, that means a lot to me 🙏
That is one AWESOME present. Please, let us hear it when completed. I bet it's really narly...Thank you for sharing your labor of love
Thanks Brian, I'll be sure to do that! Thank you for watching 🙏
That's real dedication, Dad! Great work! That guitar will be memorabilia throughout your child's life, and your work is amazing

Awesome, if he becomes a real guitarist this gift will be forever in his heart!
Yeah that'll be cool! It's definitely already been worth it though as he's had a lot of fun with it so far 😁
I’d love to have some cutoffs

As a father I promised my kids if they'd play it, I'd buy it. You sir took my promise to a whole other level!
Haha well I also did it for me because I wanted to experiment on doing resin with a guitar so don't give me too much credit 🤣
that's an awesome gift! love the explorer shape
Thank you! Yeah I've never seen a kids explorer so wanted to do something different

Did you put a Seymour Duncan Invader in that thing? I have one in my Ibby 7, seriously hot pup, that thing is going to scream!
You know I did bud! It's the Syn Gates one from his signature Schecter 👌
You are One awesome Dad. #1Dad. Hope he will be the Next Jimmy Page and Make Dad Happy.
Thank you bud 😀 he already makes me very happy so it's all good
beautiful gift:)

if I still had my lathe I'd be willing to buy the cutoffs from you to attempt to make rings from

Thanks bud I appreciate that! Yeah we got it working but he then broke it and I need to do some repairs now he's a bit older haha
You could have just sprayed that kids Stratocaster blue and met the criteria - but this is an epic guitar for a 2 year old.
@@geekinthegarden3927 yeah lol true but that's no fun 🤣😅
@@Giant_Guitars And it wouldn't have been as epic. He has a guitar that he will want to keep until it wears out - or he does

Thanks for watching all my stuff mate
So cool for your son. Perhaps glue the offcuts for a stand.
That is a fantastic idea, thank you for that.
*VVVT* "Shit!"
Routing man, been there done that 😅
Haha yeah it happens, especially when you're rushing and not feeling well 😂 worked out in the end sure 😀
Love a holly-bodied guitar 😂
😂😂😂 haha love it

That’s cool , your 2 yr old can hold it ??!
With a strap he can just about manage but mostly just sitting on my knee he can hit the strings and mess around with it.
