I agree with the pros and cons in this review. One con not mentioned: the dual chuck is sticky difficult to rotate, almost to the point of being unusable. I'll have to purchase the Lezyne speed chuck for $15 and see if that works any better. A disappointment so far.

I can soooo relate! I was 15 years old when I saw the brand new F800sl in the shop - in red with the cool XS small frame. In my case, I was super lucky because my dad owned the shop. I had to "buy" it with my own money, but let's just say I got a very special offer 😅. Anyway, that bicycle has been in continuous use for more than 25 years. I did moutainbiking in my teens, and later refitted it a bit and have used it for long-distance tours ever since. Just rode it from Munich to Venice and the over to Tolmin in Slovenia. The Fatty D ist excellent. Still in perfect working order well into its third decade, with virtually no maintenance required. And I love the handling: Super agile in traffic or difficult terrain, but light and comfortable enough for long distances. I can go down a mountain at 50km/h on that bike and still take my hands off the handlebars because that thing never wobbles.

Couple comments. N3W is the same spline pattern as their standard freehub, but it is shorter and allows a 10t cassette. If we're talking about road wheels, you can have either freehub. Or you can use a Shimano cassette and chain, quite frankly. True for 11s and 12s. Not true for SRAM compatibility. Aside from that, yes. The user base was always much smaller, even in the 90s or 2000s. The cassettes and chains are more expensive than Shimano. If we ignore that, they use different shift cable heads, so you can't substitute shift cables. Few mechanics these days are familiar with it. You can read the instructions and the principles behind the derailleurs are identical, but the lack of day to day experience means something. And it's at a price premium, and these days it definitely doesn't perform better than equivalent Shimano or SRAM. As such, it's objectively not possible for me to recommend that a newer rider switch to Campy.

Finally someone who knows how to wrap! Top down is smart; no bullshit taper cut at the top then electrical tape to cover the mess. Yes, roll tape towards the rider on top because we tend to roll or hands in this direction when gripping the top. And no, unless we are Girmay the idea that this wrap direction will tend to unravel the bottom when we sprint is laughable; we don’t sprint that much and no we are not a TdF sprinter to begin with.
