Don't forget about "crossovers"! Along the fast lane, once you hit country, you can find worn spots across the highway going from one direction to the other direction. Those are used when there's a Farm-to-Market road (FM) or a County Road (CR) that leads to someplace a lot of people want to get to on the other side, or if there's a really bad exit so a lot of people accidentally miss it and have to do a quick turn-around. Over time, Crossovers tend to become permanent and will get included in the highway maintenance and future plans - they get used by patrolcars for sitting, are great for turn-arounds, and help you reach hundreds of small roads that aren't worth building a huge exit for, but still need to be accessed. We're problem solvers, here. Impatient problem-solvers.

I got a kick out of this one. In my town they made some "improvements" to our loop. They decided to put up pilons so we couldn't use these little time savers. IT WAS HILARIOUS!!!! Within just a couple of hours someone had taken the pilons & lined them up to actual accentuate the opening. The police would put them across & someone else would come along & fix them the other direction (hope I'm making sense). It happened so many times, the police just left it alone. 🤣🤣🤣 Oh! And it's called "common sense". Ain't nobody got time to sit here & wait. 🤣🤣🤣

True. After the drought we had a strong windstorm that went through our neighborhood which felled several trees across the road and into yards. Thankfully, no houses were hit. I discovered the downed trees late at night and there were neighbors already out there with their trucks and chainsaws! By early the next day all the roads were cleared and most of the downed limbs and trees were piled by the road for the county to pick up. I have a very high regard for my neighbors❤. I could tell you many more stories (epic ones from Snowmeggedon in 2021). I know they will help without even being asked, as we all will.

My husband and I are boomers. Our yard is mostly wild. But we only have a half acre inside city limits. Fortunately our town is pretty lenient. No HOA, thank goodness! We do enough to keep neighbors from getting upset with us.

My daughter is a tea expert making British tea with milk from loose leaf tea, matcha from scratch, and proper Texan sweet iced tea. No salt in any of those. Lemon and honey but never salt.
