Favourite scary movies are probably REC, which is a Spanish zombie movie through the lens of a handheld camera, and A Tale Of Two Sisters, which is South Korean psychological horror/drama/arthouse. Both movies seem to be made with a lot of care and understanding of what makes something unnerving/eerie/scary. The former is more violent and the latter is more calm, but neither is only that throughout. Both are really good movies that I'd recommend to anyone, even if they don't like horror movies, because they both succeed in making you feel really bad for the people in the movie; it's not centered around shock value like many (imo less good) horror movies are.
The ironic thing is that horror doesn't scare me. Real life scares me way more. But Blue Velvet though - I don't even like to talk about that movie.
I hate scary movies, but i LOOOVE horror movies. Scary movies rely on jumpscares and monsters, horror movies rely on making you feel overwhelming DREAD, like Hereditary. That morning after the road scene where you don't see anything but his face and hear BLOOD CHILLING screams of PURE ANGUISH. THAT is HORROR
I don't like or watch scary movies.
Scary series however...
Archive 81 is literally a cinematic masterpiece and I recommend it.
It NAILS the niche internet genre of analouge horror, my favorite type of horror.
But I will warn you, it uh, it gets real freaky with some cult shit and some other weird shit.... Its uh.... Well its freaky. 😂
Hate, hate, hate scary movies. They give me nightmares. Stephen King's Silver Bullet is the scariest movie I've ever seen. In fact, the only scary movie I've ever seen as I refused to go again.
