Texans don’t wait for an exit. Texans MAKE an exit when they need one #Texas #Texans #Country #CountryLiving #ThatEnglishmanInTexas #OliPettigrew #Funny
First time I witnessed the Texas off ramp we were backed up for miles and suddenly at least 20 vehicles just crossed over the grass onto the frontage. Being from California I was shocked .. but once explained very pleased to see people with so much common sense and solidarity ❤
Don't forget about "crossovers"! Along the fast lane, once you hit country, you can find worn spots across the highway going from one direction to the other direction. Those are used when there's a Farm-to-Market road (FM) or a County Road (CR) that leads to someplace a lot of people want to get to on the other side, or if there's a really bad exit so a lot of people accidentally miss it and have to do a quick turn-around. Over time, Crossovers tend to become permanent and will get included in the highway maintenance and future plans - they get used by patrolcars for sitting, are great for turn-arounds, and help you reach hundreds of small roads that aren't worth building a huge exit for, but still need to be accessed. We're problem solvers, here. Impatient problem-solvers.
I got a kick out of this one. In my town they made some "improvements" to our loop. They decided to put up pilons so we couldn't use these little time savers. IT WAS HILARIOUS!!!! Within just a couple of hours someone had taken the pilons & lined them up to actual accentuate the opening. The police would put them across & someone else would come along & fix them the other direction (hope I'm making sense). It happened so many times, the police just left it alone. 🤣🤣🤣 Oh! And it's called "common sense". Ain't nobody got time to sit here & wait. 🤣🤣🤣
Fun fact: in Houston, we call the on/off ramps "feeders". So cool to have found your channel! As a native born and bred, I love that someone is highlighting the British connection.
When my husband was in grad school in Denton, in the late 80's, I had to commute into Dallas for work. I-35 was always a mess, and I frequently used those DIY exit ramps when an accident or construction brought traffic to a stop. They made life a little better.
I only did this once, in Houston. Made my own off ramp after stuck forever in completely stopped traffic jam on 290 in blazing summer heat, my car was starting to over heat and getting low on gas. But the last straw that finally sent me over the edge, literally (off 290, across the grassy slope and down a curb onto the frontage road) was a Texas mosquito hungrily biting my ankles the whole time. My Corolla was never the same LOL.
I busted out laughing so hard when you said "unofficial offramps" because i knew exactly what you mean! They are everywhere, the ones i see most being east of dallas, around where i live
Funny you mention getting stuck like that. I was blocked on IH-10 while riding my motorcycle after the rains the other day and took a Texas off ramp. Pretty muddy, but hard packed mud. My rear tire started sliding and I had a little though that I might have a problem, but I managed to move off the mud and get enough traction on the edge of the grass. The tire did throw a lot of mud up when I accelerated down the access road though.
@@thatenglishmanintexasAny of them are going to be good! Find one that also has an indoor range, go rent some time (and some guns, if needed) & have fun!
😆😂 Also, be on the lookout for any police officers/ DPS/Sheriff Vehicles 😂 That move is illegal and they will pull you over😂Have not done it, but have seen Vehicles that were!!

As a native Texan, I can say this makes complete sense. Texans are an impatient bunch 😂
We've got too many miles ahead of us to waste time sitting still
It’s called a Texit-ramp!😁
😂 They must be from California!
Huh!! They must be from California!!🤣🤣🤣🤣
In DFW, we have these self-made exits on pretty much all highways, not just I-35 😂

Having a truck or Jeep in Texas is a must if you want to participate in the Texit ramps 😂

Love it. So Texas
LOL your observations are spot on!

Thanks for stopping by!
I just took one yesterday on I-10 right before the traffic backed up. It's called a "TEXIT"
Yep. That about covers it right there.

It's ok when " foreigners "get stuck on our DIY off road ramps,we all got trucks....we'll get u out and have fun doing it.
Huh they must be from California 😂😂😂 I pretty much have that thought everyday driving in Houston.
EXCELLENT! Well done!

Yep👍🤣
Love it!!!!
It even exists on SH-130 where the posted speed limit is 80-85 mph.
I live in Waco.
If a Texit gets popular enough they just pave it and add an exit number.
Yup, we have those in the 'Sipp too, there's one not far from me, and it's like that, a cut through from the interstate to the frontage road.
We call that the “Texas Exit” here in Texas, I do it all the time in my little sedan too lol
ahaha we have to use an unofficial off ramp to get to our ranch road

Sounds like a close one
Man, I approve this video as a Texan.
Welcome to Texas!
Just found your channel. Love it! Have you visit a Texas gun store? I know one you would like.
Where would you recommend?

I wouldn't think about it in Singapore.
Good ground clearance is a good thing.
😂Yup
Temple is riddled so much with them they look well worn in that they need to be made official
If a cop uses the Texas off-ramp you can make a citizen’s arrest
Since he has the gun and the handcuffs, and knows the process to book people at the jail, I really would not recommend it.
Likely the last thing I’d ever do!
😆😂 Also, be on the lookout for any police officers/ DPS/Sheriff Vehicles 😂 That move is illegal and they will pull you over😂Have not done it, but have seen Vehicles that were!!
Usually it comes when there is an accident and the cops, etc. have much more to worry about.
Yeah, those are technically illegal. Texas DPS will ticket you if they see you doing that.
DO NOT TRY THESE IN A CAR!!! TRUCKS WERE MADE FOR A REASON.
