HOW MANY TIMES DO YOU CHANGE YOUR MIND? SPRINGER GETS ASSEMBLED AND INSTALLED
When you are building something, customized or changed to your own taste, it takes a while to get the vision right. Try this , change that, that makes the other part look bad, that doesn't work with that, move one thing - change three more. Decisions Decisions. I am trying to retain an old chopper look with the reliabilty of today, with as minimal of a cost that I can. Didn't have a lot of money on the old days lol.

    Say brom Ive got a 73 ith an S&S pump thats not pumping correctly, been watching lots of vids and saw one s&s that says both the small gears on both sides should gaged with, like you did with a .003 hight above the surface for gasket , not 003 & 007 that you were getting to high according to S&S in the vid guy had a new pump, cant see how it was out and over height, from wear. but they come from factory with the .003 under stright edge on both sides , both sides of pump all 4 gears measured the way you were doing it, can easily see that .007 on one side would be the high gear and bind, maybe you can find the vidieo.

    • @itsmytimeletsgo
      @itsmytimeletsgo 5 днів тому

      The pimp I had I think someone tried to fix up the surfaces by sanding the body down but it got uneven on one side. Only thing I could think that would do that. If you are having problems, and everything measures out right, you might check, and replace, the oil seal as when they get worn out they allow oil to transfer from the feed to the return side. Also make sure the slide in the tall tower is free and not sticking in there restricting flow to the bottom end. S&S are generally very good pumps. Good luck. Thanks for commenting.

    Can't run rigids in Nova Scotia? I do in New Brunswick, weld on hard tail on a stock front section, just register it as a stock bike, been running mine that way for 6 years now

    • @itsmytimeletsgo
      @itsmytimeletsgo 6 днів тому

      You cannot build a new custom bike and register it here if it is a ridged. Yes if you do that you can skirt around the rules. They are trying to clamp down on inspection stations, as I understand it here. But if you modify an already resgistered bike you can run them that way. Although our roads are not friendly to ride ridgeds on here like they are down south. I ran ridgeds for over 30 years here and still run my "Caged' bike in a Ness frame, occasionally. Nice job Ralph. Building bikes is fun. Especially when you have the parts, money, time & enthusiasm to bust it out. I was told by a older bike builder years ago that you want to match your angles up as best as possible for a neat looking job.

    Absolutely true! My dad has brand new Harley parts stacked up in the shop because, he constantly changes his mind. 😂 Nice build, man! I absolutely love springers. I learned something while working at the Harley dealership, though. The bearings in the neck get pretty beat up from the springer front end constantly flexing.

    Course this may be an odd question but what happens if you would put the rods in backwards you said I think the female rod goes to the rear and not sure but I was just curious would it not work would it bind up with a hit each other. Thanks

    • @itsmytimeletsgo
      @itsmytimeletsgo 11 днів тому

      I would think they might bind up, possibly interfer with the case where the cylinders go on or rod cutouts, but a have never done it to find out. Maybe someone else will comment on this who knowa or has done it by mistake.Thanks for question and commenting.

    Why only Vaseline for the little bearing rollers not grease. Thanks for the video

    • @itsmytimeletsgo
      @itsmytimeletsgo 11 днів тому

      I replied this to a couple of other people but here you go. I was taught that way when I went to school. The theory is that vaseline is soluable and will break down with the hot oil. Grease does not and can possibly gather and plug up the small holes in the crank pin. Thus no oil to the rod bearings in the bottom end. Thanks for the question and commenting.

    To clean those tapers on the pin shouldn't you use a lint free cloth to wipe them out?

    • @itsmytimeletsgo
      @itsmytimeletsgo 12 днів тому

      I can't say I ever seen anyone do that, but when you torque them at high values I do not think a piece of microscopic lint would make much difference. Thanks for the question and commenting.
