Can’t live with out them 🤣 usually try and figure out a work around but when you have the right to for the job usually goes much smoother and less violent 🤣 2 wedges and brute force for flywheels? Or do you prefer heat treatment? Or both? Really a blast watching your videos you never disappoint really really solid👍🏻 Happy Holidays to EVERYONE!!!!!
@@Billy-703 Yes they are the things to have, when you can afford them. I prefer a liitle heat rather than beating and pounding. Glad you are enjoying them. Have a great holiday!!
@@Krispy.86 Thanks for letting me know you came from Hippie's channel. We have all been working together for the last few years now. I am in Nova Scotia.
yes, old school, most builders just buy new rod set with pin and rollers. i still do it your way and why not i have the tools and i know it is right when done. seen many rod sets that are not perfect. this is one of the most important parts of a bottom end rebuild as you know.
You are right there but I, like you, like to fix what I can, and pass on tool info when I can. You are 100% correct that this is one of the most important parts of a motor build. Thanks for commenting.
Same to you both! I will be following up with Magaret but, as I said to another commenter, I have many thigs on the go that need attention as well, and I am only one guy doing it all, the actual work and the video editing. There will be much much more to come on her so please do stay tuned in. Appreciate your support. Thanks for commenting.
Hey Ralph - I was wondering, could you feel something wrong in the bottom end, some slop while you were riding the bike? btw your videos are a pleasure to watch not just for the content but whoever does the production work (pre- and post-) does a fantastic job. Lighting and sound are just right and the music never gets in the way. Good music too. Thank you for sharing your knowledge it's a huge help to us keeping our old Harleys on the road.
Not on this motor, but usually you will get a some vibration. ifits bad. Often shovelheads can make a tinging sound in the rockers and an obvious kocking sound in the bottom when they get bad. Glad you enjoy the video's and thanks for the kind words on editing etc. I do everything myself here, film and editing. I did have bit of a background in film editing and worked at it for while through the years so that helped a lot. But nice to hear someone notices it all and realizes how much work is involved ,with that end of it, as well as doing the actual work as well. I do enjoy it all though. Thanks for commenting.
I was taught that by my old shop teacher, Ray Hubaly, he always said "Clean everything up at the end of each day so you don't have to face the mess the next day" I never forgot that and always take that last half hour of the day to clean up. Sometimes it seems like a pain but he was so right. Thanks for noticing and commenting.
I don't get as in-depth as you. But the tools I've been getting for my twin cams come from George's. Decent quality and ALOT cheaper than Jim's. They're also American made. As usual excellent video. Merry Christmas to you and your family
Glad you enjoy it. I have to deal with a lot of different stuff daily here and just hoping to pass on somethings that might help others. Thanks for commenting.
Great video, look forward to the 88ci Shovelhead as I have one in my -83 FXRT, absolutely lovely and torquey motor, by the way when are you going to contine the -78 neglected FLH, look forward to that one as well. Cheers
I am also looking forward to doing the 88. They were very strong motors. Yes I will be continuing with the "78 Margaret Build". Just have to do do some other things as well along the way so sharing as I go. I cannot spend everyday on her alone, but there will be much more coming as she begins to take shape. Doing the motor now as well at this time while I am doing bottom ends. For example next week's video, about the springer, is for her. Please stay tuned lol. Thanks for commenting.
Happy Christmas from England Ralph, not forgetting your wife too and of course Norman. Thanks for all the video’s, I have lots of questions but I’ll wait until the new year now.
It was a custom build I picked up a few years ago. It had been left in a shed for quite a few years and was totally rusted up when I got it. The paint was good so I felt it was worth restoring. Had to replace the wheels, front end and every piece of cheap chrome etc , that had rusted up. Gas tank tabs were broken, didn't charge etc etc. Shame it was left to go that ways but she's a beauty once again. I Loved drving it, light low and very agil. Thanks for commenting Ed, have a great Christmas.
Really cool case split!! I’ve used my shop press as you’ve pointed out!! I was really shocked you don’t have an oxy/acetylene set up in your shop!!!! But i’m sure you’ll get one with the new found millions from UA-cam your swimming in!!! 😂😂 👍🍺 SLICK
It's a handy tool. Don't use the press anymore. Got no torches here as don't use them enough for the cost. Maybe I will look into it when I am a millionair. lol. Merry Christmas to you Slick and hope the New Year is even better for you. Thanks for commenting.

Do they sell lapping tools for knucklehead rods? Thank you good video keep them coming
I think they are the same size as the shovels. So this tool should work. Thanks for commenting.
