Monster Trout In Hopedale This Early? Catch & Cook (not the big trout)
Southeast Louisiana Inshore Fishing
It was a hard thing for me to go anywhere but where I've been catching the fire out of the Speckled Trout lately, but I had a chance to bring my best fishing buddy and we decided to play it safe and hang close to the marina in Hopedale. My expectations were just to have fun hanging with Destin the Destroyer and maybe catch a few fish, but we had a some unexpected bites that made the trip before the storms ran us off. I don't normally catch trout this big in this area this time of year.

I fish artificial lures and mostly in the marshes and lakes on the east side of the Mississippi River in South Louisiana for Speckled Trout, Redfish, and Largemouth Bass. These videos are rough edited so I can show them within a few days of the trip and because I don't know how to edit videos. If you fish in the same areas I do, this might give you some idea of current conditions and fish activity. If you have a similar channel, leave me a comment so I can check it out.

These Platforms Are Loaded With Speckled Trout!! Back To The Jungle In My Jon Boat

Southeast Louisiana Inshore Fishing I made it back out to these platforms in my 18ft Jon boat chasing Speckled Trout with a jig. Conditions have to be right, but I learned from my last trip that it pays off. I'm sure spots like this can be duplicated in other places, but I'm not sure it could be too much better. This technique is just called "tight lining." It simply means fishing a jig without...

Southeast Louisiana Inshore Fishing Tough days are inevitable, but you have to be able to make the most of those days. I went way back in the marsh looking for Speckled Trout, and I found them with the ole "lock jaw." The way I salvaged the trip was by rotating through my lures to keep tricking them into biting. I would catch one or two and the bite would seemingly disappear until I picked up a...

February can be a tough month for fishing in Southeast Louisiana, but that pattern isn't holding so far this year. Small bayous in the marsh can be loaded with Speckled Trout and Redfish. Me and my son (8) found just that. Once we got warmed up, the action was through the roof. We fished artificial swimbaits on jigheads. Looking to get started in artificial lures for inshore species? If you learn one lure style or technique, it should be a jig. Finally made it back there and I was shocked by what was waiting for me there. Video gets better as ...
