I love the car, but man this is too far gone for car park repairs! Surely?
Never seen one lie that cool looking car
Looks like a MG lol I was bout to say oh man good luck driving that 1,000 miles
Its ok to replace a fuse with a fusible link😂
Great video even tho it's fwd it's a beautiful looking car
I had a 74 Toronado that was a great trip car all my friends loved road trips in that thing. 30 gallon something tank it actually had a pretty good range.
I would engine swap it
It would be nice to show more of you working on the car instead of skipping and say well we don’t this to it. People like seeing how and what you did
u are workin on the BEST V8 offered in America the Oldsmobile 455 cid...1968 thru 1976...they are 300,000 mile motors...they run well and dont burn oil..
u guys are sooooo green when it comes to 1960s Oldsmibile
no no...roll speedometer was 1966 thru 1969
Top amo carro antigo
Yall ain’t making it. 😂
Good call at the end. No need to completely destroy the engine.
While you're doing research on your w34 you better research the barrel speedometer because it was not a one-year-old deal that was available in a tornado from 66 through 70 the life of the tornado
No. You're welcome.
Can't remember the last time I bought a distributor rotor without a new distributor cap. Budget builds are pretty chancy.
Love your videos! You sure don't seem to be afraid to tackle the tough ones. Good to see father and son(s) team working together. Best of luck on your next revival and many thanks for the entertainment. Cheers!
Neat car, glad. You Guys pulled the pug and didn’t ruin the engine, those rims are from a much newer model, back in the day the only ones that would fit were factory because of the weird offset (for that time). I think your right probably a head gasket, probably gone before You Guys touched it, it would be neat to see this one hit the road, not a restoration but maybe a roadsteration? Thanks really enjoyed the videos.
There is a secondary lockout on a QuadraJet that keeps the secondaries from opening when the choke is on. Just FYI.
How long did it take you to work out the timing was out?..let's just burn out the starter first eh?
Holy shit!..check the timing!!!
Timing
Timing. Vac leak also
Distributor
Were y'all at were it's so hot man 😅i subscribe to your channel 7/13/24
Cool body style just be better if was rear wheel drive
You’ll be lucky if wheel bearings in the rear make it
I had a orange one of those couldn’t get rid of that thing for nothing and it was running and driving
What you should have done before you drove the care is “paint” the trans-axel boots with motor oil. It keeps them refreshed , so to speak.!!
Awesome guys!!! You made the right decision! That engine is a real gem if it's savable! Getting it home is more important that making the drive IMHO. I really do enjoy you guys and the cars you've been choosing to buy have been refreshingly great!! I LOVE THIS BABY! BUT I think you're gonna find that if you are going to keep on making these great videos (I really hope you do) you'll need to do a little more part buying before hand and making sure the fundamentals are able to be run to get them truckin. LOL. Like Trans fluid (I missed how much you put in so maybe I'm just a tool) and maybe a set of wires and fresh plugs a carb kit with a bit of extra vitamins and minerals for that 5 quart 455 V8 Big block. But I LOVE IT!! THANK YOU!! PLEASE KEEP US UPDATED ON THIS CAR I HOPE YOU GUYS TO MAKE A SWEET MACHINE IF POSSIBLE!
Magnetic laser brakes
I'm sure you guys have been chewed out for a few things in the video already so I'm not gonna.....WHAT?? 5 QUARTS??? My 6 cylinder takes 6.5 liters of oil and that's about 5 quarts!! "HOW DARE YOU!!" LOL! Just kiddin around guys why would you care what a bunch of arm chair mechanics have to whine about. They ALL know better of COURSE and are ALL EXPERTS! LOL. Well I am anyway. NOPE! Rock on boys I LOVE THE CAR!! Subbed! Maybe just perhaps sort of kind o if you think about it a little tiny bit you could use a few more tools like a set of feeler gauges? And ya know a few things??? But don't mind me I'm just a back yard Mechanic (well I do have a garage full of tools and two BMW's so ya know I have to wrench almost daily so there's that). LOL.
6.5 liters is about seven quarts (6.87, to be exact)
Nice car. Good project. Would be interested in a series on this car
Ignition switch was hot, because you hotwired it😂
HOT
My dads friend had one identical to this, it was gold colored with a blue leather interior, 💙
The engine was starving for air when you was trying to start it, first thing I would do is take off the carb and intake, clean out the rats nest, nuts, whatever is clogging exhaust, intake and the water journals. I love the year and body style, I'll be 56 this year also, I'm not so sure about the front wheel drive though. New subsciber, I'm glad I stumbled on this one.
Kinda weird how they got the dude out of the garage, thought "nah" when looking at the open door and not even closing it out of common sense
68 baby too! You rock!! 😀
Great job, guys. I would like to see future videos on this car. Those 455’s are torque monsters. I enjoy your channel.
*dragged out
The no power to interior should be burnt fusible link on starter
The 68 Toronado is one of my favourites and this one is a beauty! Really love her lines and there's so much potential in the beast. Good call on not continuing to cook the engine until it died, but yeah - certainly looks like one (or both) head gaskets have let go between a cylinder and a water jacket. That rotating speedo is a real cool quirk - similar to the Edsel's horizontally rotating speedo wheel thingy. When she was first spinning over, I really didn't have much hope - I thought most of the cylinders had no compression by the sound it was making on crank and didn't think she'd pop off at all. Glad to see I was wrong on that score. Looking forward to Part II, for sure! What are your plans for its future?
The next time things need lubed on the top of an engine I'm just going to pull the oil pressure sending unit out, start it up and let It lubricate LOL
You guys are complete clowns. You have a comedy channel😂
Great rustoration project guys, I always liked these cars. Hopefully the roof is still solid under that top. Yeah shes ratty but it will make a great project, I hope you can just regasket the top end and that will get you going again. All these comments about timing and valves stuck obviously didn't finish the video where it obviously has a very blown head gasket. 🤣
I had a 1975 yellow one loved it .had to sell it when I moved One good thing about them they have a full frame under them.
If you'd have stuck to the plywood floor plans, at least they wouldn't rust in Pennsylvania! Eddie
what kinda of wheels are those ? I have a old Cadillac front wheel drive I wanna swap rims on ?
Those look like the factory wheels for that car. I thought it kind of odd they were swapped out. Pretty sure they also are correct for Eldorado's of that vintage.
They are from a Jeep liberty. The factory wheels are sitting there. They are extremely rust pitted though. The guy we bought the car from put the jeep wheels on to move it.
@@RuggedWrench The wheels on the ground are the ones I was referring to.
The factory wheels are correct for Eldorados after they switched to FWD. The jeep wheels share the same lug pattern but the hub bore is smaller. If the hub bore gets over corrected to where they fit loose on the hub then the wheels will eventually vibrate loose. The trick is to make sure not to over bore the hubs.
