  • We took the completely shot vintage boat out on the water. It still needs a lot of work.

Wow you guys have a lot of work ahead of you 😂 I just bought a 1998 Bayliner trophy 1903 CC. It came with a dinosaur 1993 Mercury 150hp Black Max. I haven't even gotten to the engine yet. Just been restoring the interior. The hull is in awesome shape with fresh gel coat and the interior is all there and in great shape. Stringers, floor and transom are solid. I put a T top on it two new bilge pumps a live well pump and bought the original cooler and mounts for the front of the console. I always start with the electrical components and wires. Replacing any corroded wires and heat shrinking any connections that don't have them. All my switches and gauges are working now 😊 I filled all the screw holes around her with Marine epoxy and put new screws and sealed all bow rail mounts. Removed and painted all access hatches put a new control on it and have the interior at about 8 out of 10 in original shape. Next will be top paint and deck paint. Then it will look like brand new. I will be adding color changeable interior lights a stereo and ship to shore radio plus fans and a light bar on the T top. I learned quickly that a party boat or cabin cruiser is a high maintenance drama queen in the boating world. Anything with carpets, wooden floors and a ton of upholstery is going to require a lot of maintenance if you want to keep it nice. I stay away from them now and go with fiberglass floors no carpet and self bailing cockpits. My interior has four seats two have captains chair seat removable cushions and two are removable jump seats. We will remove them and store them at home when not boating. Center console boats are probably the easiest to run wires in and get to your inner hull for service or through bolts. They have access hatches at key points around the boat and a good size access hatch inside the console. Basically we use fishing boats and just luxury it up a bit. Way less maintenance more time on the water😊

These guys are proving that every old boat has potential. I'm looking forward to the before and after video in a few years! (Hopefully a lot sooner 🙂)

As Bennet Surf once said, never scuba dive in a wet suit with an electric zipper.

I forgive you guys for the clickbait title, whats a little hustle between friends. You seem like alright folks.
You are killing me with the socket battery connectors...
Of course there is a LOT to do to get it to showroom condition 😄.. tons of details to take care of, but it honestly seems pretty peppy for such a relatively small engined boat. Cant be that heavy and probably propped with a pretty low pitch as well? And I guess you guys havent got all that much weight in it. Still it seems pretty good, it just about got on plane there for a second...

😂 we didn’t want to get going to fast with the steering issues. This boat has been a blast to work on. I can’t wait to take it on a small adventure someday soon.

That sounds like a great project! Probably a bit bigger than we are up to for now.
