      Hoping to find that out with an interview. Range would be customised to the task balancing battery cost/weight and availability of charging. As mentioned these will operate on a dedicated bus way so charging availability and travel distances are in a controlled environment. Thanks for watching.

      @@AnarchyEnsues This is excellent news. I recently wrote to BCC asking when we will get EV ferries and more EV buses. I had a very non-committal reply from Cr Ryan (Transport portfolio) that was pretty underwhelming - it certainly didn't say that all new buses would be EVs from 2027. Thanks so much for sharing this info.

      Also on how the network will function, at first they were going to have all the suburban bus routes dump their passengers at the first busway stop they use and then turn around and head back to the suburbs, Now it's a mixed bag, express routes will continue to their full destination, and non express will dump at first busway station and head back

      It's not. They will primarily be running up the northern and southern busway due to its size. Don't worry, all new buses post 2027 will be electric so you will get single stage banana buses and normal buses soon enough

    I'm wondering if they are using Lithium titanate batteries, with the incredibly fast charging it sounds like they might be. If they are titanate (LTO) the batteries will last decades and have zero fire risk. I know a lot of Chinese buses use LTO chemistry.

      @ElectricCarAustralia 19 днів тому

      Hi Duane, thanks for watching and the donation. Yes, travels well on the freeway with surprising efficiency, between 16-18 kWh per 100km, given the boxy, non airo shape. Probably the worst thing is the seats. Their ok but not great on longer journeys over 2.5+ hours at a time. Lack of Regen braking when using cruise control is also a stupid design but depending on terrain/traffic conditions not such a big deal. Some different models may have different Warranty periods but ours was 7 years car, 8 years on battery. I believe MG have just announced 10 yr Warranty so they must be comfortable the cars will last. Enjoy.

    Thanks for sharing your experiences. Highlights a range of “things that can go wrong” with modern vehicles (ICE and EV) including importance of good service and support, not just up-front price. Automatic/electronic control of basic functions like brakes and transmission without manual overrides reduces options for recovery. The suggested 5G interference cause is highly improbable for reasons others have covered. Also not likely to be the key fobs. Reliable operation of all electronics is fundamentally dependent on stable power regulation on the vehicle may be susceptible to low battery voltage. Also, possibly voltage spikes on the rapid charger. Kempower may not offer that info from their diagnostics. 😉.

    I've never heard of a mobile phone tower causing such a problem before but it makes sense I guess. Back around 2015 when I had recently bought a Tesla Model S I had a problem with the key-fob not being recognised. The cause was having the key-fob and my mobile phone close together (in the same pocket). No one warned me about that but fortunately I found the cause within 10 minutes and by employing a multi-pocket approach my problem went away. Best regards.

    Too many electronics part for modern car. Especially, EV car has so many components that normal mechanic wouldn't understand. I prefer simple car that just run without any fancy technology. They sell the tools to lift the wheel up and move the car out yourself. So $600 would be possible to buy 4 of them and do it yourself

      @@ken_le Yes, all new cars have a lot of electronics/technology. If you can keep your older car well maintained and running that's good. Great thing about EVs is they have only about 300 moving parts instead of 3,000 for petrol/diesel so much simpler and less things to wear out. Thanks for the comment. 👍

Even with my 2020 model I still bought a 22kw type 2 to type 2 lead and a 22kw portable home charger (EVSE) so if/when I upgrade the MG and/or move to a new house with 3 phase (or travelling) I am all set. I have been using the Otto Cast U2 Air Pro for a few days on my EV6 and it connected up very quickly (you need to establish a Bluetooth connection to the unit) and it does everything else very seamlessly. Got it on Amazon during Prime Day for $84 but it’s regularly that price from what I can tell outside Prime Day. This unit just does the regular Car Play / Android Auto functions (no Netflix etc) but it connects VERY quickly. Otto Cast do have several units including a video streaming one, but as a driver I wasn’t interested in those. From what I can see it works so well you forget it’s there. 👍

    holden volt? my chevy volt here uses type 1 here in the us. guessing the few holden volts in australia still used type 1's? i put solar panels on my volt and expanded the battery on the 12v side by an extra 4kwh, and installed a small micro inverter so i can plug my house into my car and park it outside once its done charging. getting about 1.3kwh/day discount on my power bill and the mods make my 32mile 2013 phev last for around 45-55miles instead. any long trips are gas which is still cheaper and way faster than super charging. also not good for the bats. i made a post on the gm volt forums under gen1->modifications section

    Anyway, someone could take this info and try and gleem it's education for us, who live in the United Sates? as someone new to the EV car charging marketplace, one thing that I wonder about is, are the charging networks charging the same exact rate in all 50 States, or can it vary from state to state? it seems unfair to me, to think for example That Tesla or Charge Point, etc..charge the same rate for EV charging in New Mexico or SouthDakota, or other far less urban population centers in those states, as opposed to heavy densely populated states like New York or California ?
