As a BYD owner I scoffed at the remark from EVDIRECT manager that" Software updates can happen overnight".... What utter crap considering we are still waiting for Apple Carplay and Android Auto promised to us in an OTA update in December last year. Even NZ is ahead of us in this.... WHat about softeare updates to give us an Australian option for our roads and outback highways.. all promised and still waiting... Overnight!!!
Hi Mel, it's disappointing to hear the difference between the technical capability and the reality for owners. Good luck with getting the updates soon.
As a potential EV buyer l have concerns about purchasing an EV from China considering the current attitude of its government towards Australia, its expansionist and belligerent approach towards its neighbours in the Pacific area. What would happen if China followed through with its threats towards Taiwan. Where would our trade connections be for spare parts and warranty issues for any EV purchased. Can we look at Russia and learn from what happened to trade there! I am not optomistic about owning a chinese EV.
You worry about things that may or may not happen and how long before they happen. It won't only be spare parts for a Chinese Ev, but your home appliances and tvs and other electronics because they are made in China and all the spare parts too. China has too much to lose on a economic scale by going to war, so to speak with the rest of the world. To keep their economy booming, they are too reliant on coal, iron ore, and oil and petroleum products they are supplied to them by the Western world. China relys heavily on its exports to the world, look at everything it makes that it exports from household items to electronics and vehicles. The world is dependent on Chinese goods as china is on the world for buying what they manufacture in their country. The reason why China makes everything is its low manufacturing and labour costs, this is why a lot of western companies have their products made there.
Its not about worrying too much, l look to history for answers. China was encouraged to join the international community and become a contributing member however its life president wishes to control and bully its neighbours not coexist with them. He sees trade as a weapon against countries who speak up thats the history.
Hi Michael, thanks for watching and the comment. You raise some fair points and some people will consider these when making purchases, not only for EV's but for mobile phones, televisions, toasters and canned food stuffs, lot's of which now all come from China.
@@ElectricCarAustralia thanks for your reply l enjoy your channel. I agree with your comment about our addiction to chinese products however they are less important products. A car requires a longer term relationship with the maker for warranty, service issues and spare parts etc. How can we be sure of this when China's lifetime president has weaponised trade to Australia in the past with bans and tarrifs, not to mention what could happen if China invades Taiwan.
Like solar panels, it is China that will make EV affordable for everyone. If we were to depend on the legacy auto makers, it won't happen quickly enough to help fight environmental disaster we are facing now.
Chinese quality has improved a lot over recent years so I think with the quality and lower price Chinese made cars including the Tesla models are good for Australia.

Atto 3 CarPlay is done through over OTA 4 months ago.

Do you purchase any USA products?

Thanks for the comment and I tend to agree China will lead in this area.

Yep, I tend to agree. So far so good with quality, I guess time will tell.
Yes. China will bring you cheap EVs. We send them ores, coals, lithium and tonnes of money and in return they will send us cheap cars and bombs.
Thanks for watching and the comment.
