The 0-100 is realistically around 7 seconds which I think is plenty enough. The car is a pleasure to drive. The headlights are absolutely brilliant but some one have reported that they have received their cars with the headlights set to low although I haven't experienced that myself
@@ElectricCarAustralia I personally think the handling is very good no real body roll. Other reviews out there handling up there with more expensive marques such as BMW. Now I've never driven anything like that before so don't have anything to compare it to. Bjorn Nyland on UA-cam seems to rate the handling though
@@danuk2005I second what you say about the car. It’s a pleasure to drive in all aspects. I took my friend out for a spin and it put a big smile on his face saying, “You can feel the g-force!” 😃
In addition to the lack of air vents for the rear passengers, it also doesn't have a centre fold down console with drink holders. I personally wouldn't want to hold a coffee for the duration of a trip. It would also be interesting to know what the fixed servicing costs are. I'd be disappointed if they charge ICE vehicle rates.
Hi Max, yes and the other very annoying thing with little kids is no lights in the rear seat. The focus is often on the 'bells n whistles' but it's these practical things which get overlooked which make a difference to the ongoing ownership experience after the excitement of the new purchase has worn off. I will cover the service costs once I can get hold of a car to review and run through all the missing pieces of info we have at the moment until cars arrive.
@@ElectricCarAustralia If they give unrealistic prices for servicing, it would be good to know their justifications. One question I have about driving electric cars as I don't own one yet, and it relates to re-gen braking. Where I live (near Newcastle) there is lots of mixed surface roads where you could be on flat roads for ages and then be going down windy, steep hills. To me it would seem advantageous to be able to increase or decrease re-gen braking on the fly. Therefore I think cars with paddle shifters behind the steering wheel would be the best design. I see some cars require changes via menus. Do people find this awkward to do "on the fly" as their environment changes?
@@madmax1412 I believe the toggle switches on the steering wheel are programmable so in theory you should be able to set one to adjust the level of regen breaking at the push of a button. Not quite as cool as having flappy paddles on the wheel but same principle.
I've ordered one too. I really wanted the option to have the grey interior but they are not bringing that to Australia, just like they didn't in the UK. Not sure why Europe and Thailand etc get these options and we don't. Black interiors in Australia are a bit crazy if you ask me! Thanks for the rundown.
Thanks for that info. Can you inform us when you can get more details of say, regeneration, front grill operation, electrical accessories (key, seats, door handles, etc). I believe the vehicle (Essence) will not have Sat nav in-built) True??? Any other info you can obtain will be great. Thank you
The mid-range MG4 Essence car specs in Australia with it's shortcomings esp battery chemistry, is a no from me. Charging a NMC battery to 80% is equivalent to the base model MG4 SE that uses LiFePO4 battery chemistry, which is a better battery. The base Tesla Model 3 although $15k more expensive than Essence is a better proposition in my opinion.

I have one on order subject to a test drive in Melbourne. I'm a little annoyed (if it is true) that the Australian model doesn't have heated seats as for an ev it is more energy efficient compared to heating the entire cabin. Also not sure if it will have a heat pump.
Hi, thanks for watching & congrats on your order. Will this be your first EV? Yes some of the specifications are still sketchy. I have also heard the heat pump isn't reverse cycle so may only do cooling, with heating via a less efficient method. Hopefully we wont have to wait long to find out. Cheers
@Electric Car Australia Yeah, it's my first EV and first brand new car. I'm extremely excited especially for the cost savings long term alone! Great content keep it up.
Yes, some people will prefer LiFePO4. They must have needed it for energy density, or maybe just cant keep up supply on others. At some point I think they will change it over as the LiFePO4 are also cheaper to manufacture.
ive ordered mg4 trophy in camden grey i love the volcano orange but i would be getting TANGO shouted everywhere i go and also look like an Just eat delivery guy
What do they require regarding service (to maintain that 7 year warranty)? BYD have a ridiculous spend required to maintain their warranty, hopefully MG do not. EVs require very little servicing, demanding more is just an unnecessary financial impost (read rip off).
Thanks for the comment Brian, Yep some people will give it a miss because of that. The smaller battery model has LiFePO4 but it's not coming to Australia as present.

Thanks for the comment. I tend to agree. What is the suspension and handling like? I'm looking forward to driving.

Does anyone know if the rear LED lights go right across the boot for the Aussie version?

Congratulations. Besides the LT savings you will be blown away by the driving experience.
Looks good EXCEPT that stupid battery! I'd gladly give up the extra range to have the LiFePO4.

in China they have 450ps+ dual motor version which can do 0-100 in 3.8s. that's a true hot hatch.
That models supposed to be coming to UK this year upwards of 40k.... I've a trophy model ordered to pickup this Friday
@@ianchambers3473 even the price is much higher compared to China mainland, it's still a good choice here, great
I was told by the MG dealer that you can pre-order the dual motor variant as well. There are 5 variants they are offering here.

Looks like a good car. Waiting to see in showrooms.
Yes, I'm looking forward to getting behind the wheel. Thanks for watching.
I had a look at the MG4 at the Fully Cargesd show. Nice car but you cant fit roof racks to it which was a deal breaker for me

Hi Michael, dont think the MG4 service schedule has been released. The ZS EV is every 2 years or 20km.
That is just dumb, no roof rack capability. You need this to put a pod on the roof to carry a spare wheel in this great brown land called Oz.
I've looked at it, and looked at it, and because of its battery chemistry I don't like it.
