When I tried to run a few years ago, I was too heavy (excess weight) and too weak. Now I'm in a healthy weight, but packed with muscle due to all the strength training that I'm doing. For some reason I actually still afraid to this day to give running a shot again. Even though my orthopedist gave me clearance to do what I want, and I'm doing a lot of other aerobic activity during the week like boxing, which puts my resting HR at about 39, so definitely fit today, but can't look at myself like someone who can run 😔

Currently, my knees are giving me issues. I know it was because I was climbing in and out of a boat akwardly, but I lift a lot and walk about 15 miles a week. This week I've done nothing because I don't to make it worse, but I feel like I'm gonna lose all my progress. Any suggestions to getting stronger knees? As always thanks for all the excellent information.

When I first saw you on running I was super impressed at how broad your shoulders and arms were. I know size is not optimal for running but I find this kind of "balanced" physique great, but I struggle to manage recovery and injuries when doing both running and exercises especially the shin/quads.

Holly! <3 I wondered if you have your own thing these days after you've left The Run Experience - and there you are! I guess my comment is one of the weirdest you've ever read - but I found you through The Run Experience channel about two years ago when I was working with my nutritionist who was then also my coach - when I was amid a 2.5 year long journy in which I've lost 187 pounds! I was morbidly obese, even though as a child I was a swimmer and an athlete; I went through some rough things that took me away from that lifestyle. Anyway, what I wanted to share is when I started to watch your videos back then - it gave me a lot of hope to continue - I was very weak, in a fitness plateau, and it seemed like my coach was about to give up on me - after seeing a lot of potential. I found a great physio and I worked (well, still technically working from time to time) on weaknesses with them - and somehow out of nowhere (after putting in a lot of hard work) I've gained about 8 pounds of lean muscle in about half a year! I was finally able to lift very heavy, so my coach offered me to find a CrossFit gym somewhere nearby so that I could train with someone dedicated to this field - as I fell in love with strength training. Sadly, that hasn't happen yet - I'm living on the other side of the world where we currently have a war so many of the trainers are in service, we had a lot of missiles and all the "fun" you can imagine - but I'm still glad I was able to train at home in my own little gym. I wish someday we'll be after this awful period and I could make my dream come true. Please continue sharing your life and helpful advice with us! it helps a lot and it's always great fun to watch. Congrats on the new house 😊 Peace and love!

This is a great video. I agree wholeheartedly with this advice, 2 years into learning to run. I wanted to say thank you for the live Q & A you did the other day - your specific guidance on cadence work versus speed was absolutely brilliant the way you explained it - i pushed cadence (from 165 previously to about 174) to help relieve impact pain as you described, and "accidentally" ran my fastest 5 and 10ks as training runs on my next two consecutive runs. Keep it coming!
