When I tried to run a few years ago, I was too heavy (excess weight) and too weak. Now I'm in a healthy weight, but packed with muscle due to all the strength training that I'm doing. For some reason I actually still afraid to this day to give running a shot again. Even though my orthopedist gave me clearance to do what I want, and I'm doing a lot of other aerobic activity during the week like boxing, which puts my resting HR at about 39, so definitely fit today, but can't look at myself like someone who can run 😔
Currently, my knees are giving me issues. I know it was because I was climbing in and out of a boat akwardly, but I lift a lot and walk about 15 miles a week. This week I've done nothing because I don't to make it worse, but I feel like I'm gonna lose all my progress. Any suggestions to getting stronger knees? As always thanks for all the excellent information.
Yes great question! Try doing some seated leg extensions where you just straight your legs one at a time out in front of you and flex the quads as hard as you can for a few seconds on each rep. Wall sits are also good for low impact quad strength building. Add some extra mobility/stretching work in for the hips, quads and upper shins and you'll be golden.
Love the format and clean edits on this one Holly! Keep the helpful content coming 🌞
I’m so glad you’re liking the videos! Thank you!
Your content is very informative and I apply most of what you cover.
I’m so glad! Thanks for watching.
Thanks for the information!
Of course!
Thanks. I’m beefy, muscular and struggle to run. I’m 71, so there’s that too.
Like these videos. The only lifting that I do is using my body and running afterward. Thanks.
Yes - always good to remember what calms you down and works you up in terms of data. Trending in the right direction is all we're looking for really!

Only do it if you're interested in it! Resting at 39 is awesome!
