Awesomeness, always so good to hear you Coach Holly. Guess I missed a few episodes, but all is well again. OK, had to walk with a cane for a bit, but here I am back riding the bicycle the last few days. Two steps forward and 3 steps back, LOL. I guess the running days are over now, but hey, walking and riding the bicycle at 60 is all good. ONE thing I always want you to know, and remember Coach Holly: This Journey with you for about 10 or so years has ALWAYS BEEN A WIN. You've added 7 or 8 good years of mobility that the doctor didn't think would happen. Never met you, never raced with you, never had a coaching session. YET, it's all good, I will ALWAYS attribute your UA-cam vids as the boost I needed to WIN what I could. Thank you is all I got to give, but my life is forever changed for the good because you chose to make free vids and put them on the You tube. Have an awesomeness day Coach.
Always coming through with the best comments! It sounds like you've got many years of good cycling left. Looks like none of the setbacks of held you down too long. Keep up the good work and thanks for always supporting the channel! I'm so glad to have helped you.
I partially tore something in my knee from a fall but truly with PT, cross fiber massage and strength training-- I've really strengthened my knees and become an ultra runner with no knee issues. It's kind of wild how people will just assume an ache means running is ruled out totally and then not do anything to make it better
Also, wanted to say I had the start of shin splints recently and did the lacrosse ball massages. I was shocked how many knots I had in there!! Loosened it all up with flossing. And wow!! Just 3 of those massage type sessions and it helped so much!! Again. It's shocking how much physical therapy can help
Thanks for sharing!! I really love when you guys share your stories about how you didn't just assume you couldn't run. Nice job troubleshooting the knee and the shin splints!
I don't have pain in my knees, but sometimes my right knee feels like something is out of place. What I have is some kind of pain on my right hip that when I rub it I can feel it go down to my knee. Thanks for the video.
My knee finally is no longer hurting after injuring it a few months ago, and I am contemplating starting running again. But i've been really worried about it, as I've tried to start again before and had the same pain crop up. I've recently been able to walk 8-10 miles without knee pain, so it seems like a good time to try to ease into running, and this seems like a sensible way to give myself a little insurance moving forward. Would a massage gun work just as well for some of this? I've found that to be a little more effective than rolling for my legs and hips.
I understand the fear here, completely! Yes massage gun works, but I do think it doesn't let you identify in as much detail how tight you are in certain areas. Not a problem with that - just a little less efficient. I want to make a part 2 to this video talking about what strength to pair with all this, to make your knees bulletproof. All that + attention to form, you should be golden!
I’m excited to try this for my knee! Thanks Holly!

I will make a part 2 to this, where I go through knee specific strength exercises that should hopefully help your knee feel more supported and stable.
