Raft took a wrong turn when he traveled down the crime movie road. That's all of Raft I see on TCM. None of his great dancing movies are ever shown. I guess he hung around his pal Bugsy too much.

I knew of George Raft as an actor, but he first time I saw him dance was on a live show on UK TV where he replicated this. I was a teen and I'd never seen anything like it for sensuality. Love him so much.

I always wait for, and am never disappointed, by Raft’s signature move: pause & slow turn with arm extended.

It's worth watching especially for the appearance of S.Z Cuddles" Sakall and wise cracking of Iris Adrian. Janet Blair sure was one pretty Gal!

Dancing looked more like a person skiing, ice skating and running all at the same time back in those days, I don't think my legs can move that fast! 😂❤😂

Brace67, I agree! And your comment was not corny at all! The man lived an artistic, colourful life with many accomplishments, the best of which were his dance moves. Some wacky (like the vaudeville shows), some comical, some jazzy, some conventional. But his best in my opinion, were the Latin type dances. In all styles, Raft was always correct, precise and creative. His charisma was irresistible and still beguiles today.

It's really a shame that you post a clip (where the whole point is watch as much of 2 human bodies dancing) that was originally filmed in a 4:3 aspect ratio, but you present it in a 16:9 ratio. This screen format wasn't in common use until the 50s, so the result here is that you've cut off the top and bottom of the frame so the side to side will fit the 16:9. Rather defeats the point of trying to see dancers.

So-called "George Raft" wasn't even his real name. George Ranft obviously sold-out his birth moniker in the name of 'Hollywood' shallowness, deceit, & greed. The change was probably as the result of pressure from money-grubbing Agent(s) and or Studio(s), with preconceived notions of greater recognition and better financial gain?! The worst part was the disrespect of parents and family heritage.
