I knew of George Raft as an actor, but he first time I saw him dance was on a live show on UK TV where he replicated this. I was a teen and I'd never seen anything like it for sensuality. Love him so much.

George Raft in his happy place. It is a joy to watch him dancing.

I always wait for, and am never disappointed, by Raft’s signature move: pause & slow turn with arm extended.

He's just as sexy and exciting here as in his dance scenes from his early 30s movies. I love his sultry tango in 'Broadway,' from 1944.

George danced in the rain long before Gene Kelly and was far more sexy at it as well. Just look at the joy on his face. What a fabulous man!

I would never think on just looking at Mr. Raft that he was a dancer and actor just on looks. His style was very different from Fred Astaire, James Cagney Bob Hope to mention a few.
His style was smooth, fun, sexy. he
Didn't go away from his style very much either. Always looked like he really enjoyed dancing period. Thanks for his dance clips 💕. Take care , stay safe, God Bless.

Watching this in Lock down here in the UK. Just watched the governor dancing Val Parnell show London filmed in the 60s.

Thank you so much for posting this! Believe it or not I sent the better part of last year trying to find this clip online somewhere. I always found it amusing that "Sweet Georgia Brown" was associated with George Raft BEFORE it became the signature tune of the Harlem Globetrotters.

Gene Kelly at his best tries to impersonate Georgie Raft. Astaire doesn`t even get a look-in. Raft has to be the sexiest man in film of all time. He was always a favourite and I got to meet the great man himself in the Seventies when teaching gender in film at USC. I had used Raft as the focus on a pilot on `Stardom` that Cyd Charisse and Tony Martin were fronting. What you see is what you get. For once I was not disappointed.

Amazing!!! I never knew George Raft was a dancer. Always thought he was the bad guy in films.

He was! But he's a multi-faceted guy! He was a professional boxer in New York, then became chorus dancer in London musicals - believe it or not! George did EVERYTHING! :)) I think it's his manner and voice that caused Hollywood immediately to say "Ok, another Cagney/Robinson" when he came to Hollywood - and he obliged :)

He was a great dancer when he was younger. The tango was his best dance ever.

@@Richard19551 He started his dancing in his neighborhood, Hell's Kitchen, in NYC before he went to London. His mother got hm started, and he realized he loved it. Self-taught. Picked up some things from hanging out in Harlem and watching the dancing; some at the Cotton Club.

James Cagney was also a very good dancer who became type cast as a bad guy.

@@sunnyshores2007Bogie was always predictable. He had an alcoholic vibe in all his films. Also, he spoke with a mouthful of saliva - very distracting.
Raft had style & presence Good moves.
