So true...a self-taught dancer, as incredible as it may seem, but he had an utterly uncanny ability to learn by imitation. In his time in Havana which apparently was considerable, he watched to local pros doing the Rumba as only they could. He commented on how impressed he was with their ability to move their hips and butts (his word) in complete isolation from the rest of the body...something Raft achieves so well as seen here.
Why do they only show his crime and gangster movies? My mother always laughed at me for thinking Raft was good-looking. And now I see he has moves too!
Raft had to have moves to have the numerous hot affairs he famously had with so many of the biggest stars in the business...Marlene Dietrich to begin with...

The Rumba was not danced like this, and is not danced like this now. Hollywood at it's "best" stereotyping Latinos and misrepresenting Latin dancing.
