The Simpsons and Me: Treehouse of Horror V
Here it is, the Treehouse of Horror episode that more often than not is considered to be the greatest in the entire series. One so well regarded that I had to practically do a movie review length video on it. This is the Legendary Treehouse of Horror V

Last Year I took a look back at Return of the Living Dead which I consider to be one of if not the best zombie movies ever made well if someone wished upon the monkeys paw to make the best Zombie Movie ever, the downside to that wish would be that the sequel was horrible and killed any chance of a franchise. I thought the memory of this show might have been a fever dream from my childhood, but there it is. Much like Mega Babies, Ren and Stimpy was a show I remember actually making me feel uncomfortable. I wasn't even sure why it bothered me so much until I was older and realized those shows were just THAT gross and not ( In my Opinion) very suitable for kids.

"THIS... IS MY VOICE... ON TEEEEE-VEEEEEEEEEE!" gets me everytime. I quote it out of context whenever I can. I have a copy of Simpsons World: The Ultimate Episode Guide Seasons 1-20 and both pages that mention the couch gag state that they "amble into the living room" or otherwise don't mention them coming out through the floor. I don't recall that happening but it feels like something I remember seeing at some point, just maybe part of another gag

"Dad you're ruining the mood!" Im guessing I either mixed it up with Treehouse of Horror IV's couch gag where they come out as zombies or like maybe theres an off chance they edited IV's gag into a repeat airing of V iunno.

That's typically how horror movies and their sequels go. The first one is usually the best while each sequel isn't as good while still having its moments. I thought Return Of The Living Dead 3 was better than 2 though and the original was the best. None of them hold up to Friday The 13th, Nightmare On Elm Street, or Halloween simply because the movies are horrible stories with low quality filming and effects. You can tell the other mainstream horror movies had bigger budgets and it shows in how the movies look. Return Of The Living Dead movies look like they were shot on the cheapest cameras of the time and everything about them screams low rent.

Another great episode as always. I will agree I think all three segments are the best that The Simpsons ever did. I haven’t really watched most of the last couple of seasons I’d mostly just catch the Halloween specials. But I agree with you about Julie. Her voice is really changed. The only person I think his voice is changed more is Mike Judge. He doesn’t even sound like Beavis anymore. I’m probably gonna be the first person to point this out but I’d like the channel surfing and you showed the shooters from Columbine. That was such a big moment of our youth. Good video. The first is also one of my favorites. Despite having seen the second one, nothing about it registers in my memory except electrocuting them at the end. It was a tired sequel that just followed the beats of the first, and it didn't work at all. Bringing back two identical actors to play different characters was ballsy, and with a better director and script that could have worked. Not here. I always wanted to play hockey, but I’m from Miami. Finding hockey here is really hard to come by, or it least you really had to search for it. It’s not like Baseball and Basketball where they pretty much fall out of the sky. I also roller bladed. It’s hard on legs, specially the ankles. About permanently ruining your childhood toy on a whim: I had a Woody doll where the limbs are held together by white thread you had to wind up in order to keep the doll in place while standing. I had it in the late-90s and loved playing with it. I had scissors one day and on a whim I decided to cut thread that head in place. To this day I don’t understand why I did it. I loved that doll. I felt like Andy with that doll. Lol. I tried fixing the doll but the thread was too short and tried playing with it for a little while after the fact, but eventually it was useless. When I did the deed, I stared at the doll for almost half an hour thinking, “ what have I done”. The impulsivity control with kids is fairly shit at times. Oh well. Cool vid as always.

I first saw the film a few years ago due to it’s prestige and I must say I did enjoy the whole thing. Although both halves of the film are pretty jarring. They are obviously the same film, but the surface ontology of both halves feel like night and day. Each half can be its own film and it’s unbelievably difficult to splice together two “separate films” and make them work cohesively. But somehow Kubrick managed to pull it off. Hence why he’s a “filmmaker’s filmmaker). Lol. I get why the second half is treated as an unwatchable lackluster segment on average. The first half is much more focused and entertaining. But I thought the second half as much to other as the first with the reasons you mentioned. And honestly they shouldn’t of work given by what’s evidently on the surface, but Kubrick pulled a Jurassic Park. “He found a way”. (Weak joke). Anyways, yes D’Onofrio and Emery were standouts and the film lost some of its spunk when they “left”. But great film nonetheless. You actually got me to want to rewatch it soon. And Clockwork Orange is really good. Lol. But to me, Kubrick is an oddly acquired taste. Hard to get into The Shining, Dr. Strange Love, although kinda funny, and definitely 2001. Meh. Also, I’ve seen Casualties of War several times. Mainly for the performances of Michael J. Fox and Sean Penn (with him hamming it up) and wanting to see Fox in a really good film that isn’t Back to the Future (Love that trilogy as well). Damn Parkinson’s had to rob a great charismatic talent. Fucking shame. Is it the assault scene that cramps up your stomach? I get it if so. I get Back to the Future trilogy has been talked to death and you may think you may not have much to add to it, but you think you’ll ever have it in your queue to talk about? And hey, it should be fun to talk about a famous, fellow Canuck, actor. 🤷🏽‍♂️ TIL the next vid.

I like how the episode shows that Bart and Lisa have both inadvertently trained each other to be their greatest adversary. Throuhout the futures as well, Bart nearly sinks her presidency and then outdoes her in world diplomacy. They both know each other so well from shared experiences at both cross and same purposes, so they know each other's weakness, as well as how to either exploit them, or shore them up, because this also makes them excellent teammates. They mirror a trend seen in Married With Children where the Bundys would hate each other and fight, right up until some outside force threatened or shamed the family as a group. Then all internal differences were dropped, and a unified front was adopted, and I think that sums up the United States pretty well at the time, too. As for the popularity of hockey, I live in St Louis where hockey is our second most popular sport after baseball and we love it, and we're glad to be rid of that old football team, anyway. Because it was haunted.
