I'm surprised you didn't go into Bart's psychology more. Both the Simpson kids break in different ways when they're forced into isolation, and when it's together. When they were trapped at the Flanders' they made a newspaper as a team, and when Lisa was sick she became a video game addict to the detriment of her grades (wonder where she gets that from, Marge. Gamblor, I suppose?) But when Bart is alone, he spirals into madness like an artist. That play he wrote may represent the darkest period of his entire life, and may presage his becoming a Tennessee Williams type playwright in his later years (I need the whiskey! I'm troubled.) Yet even as he twists and contorts his mind, he manages to play the hero in the end, or at least he attempts to in fine Don Quixote fashion, which is a far cry from how Heart of Darkness ends, with Kurtz succumbing to the madness and welcoming his end. But yeah, I guess that song they play when Martin's standing there naked is kinda poignant, too. Probably some meaning in that.
To me this is definitely one of my favorite Simpsons episodes with the jokes being so damn good and alongside it relates to my childhood as the past two homes my family and I lived in had a pool in the backyard along with me badly injuring a limb bone during a summer about a decade ago while not a leg fracture but a wrist fracture after I tripped on a sidewalk and landing on my wrist first had I not I would have landed lower jaw first, forced to wear an arm cast for well over a month as a result impacting that summer for me.
“Hello uh Hello, Mrs…. uh, Bart.” That made me laugh a lot more than it should. So is Flanders’s scream. So Seasons 3-5 is your peak for the Simpsons? I’m more considerate on 2-7, at times 8 (I know, the standard) I get where you are possibly coming from, but THAT little of a window? Lol, I remember Moviephone. I thought it was stupid. I’m very displeased by ginger ale.
thats not to say i dislike Seasons 6-9 or 1-2 for that matter but going back and watchng 3-5 they have this kind of feeling the other seasons just dont have. 7 is obviously in the discussion for best season, but iunno ive just learned to really love 3-5 on a higher level.

Barts psychology is something that’ll be addressed in a future wider scope episode

My favorite joke in this episode is the ''Nelson, I think he's really hurt. I said haw haw'' lol
All time classic Nelson moment
Mobile swimming pools are a thing, the swimmobile.
