This is one of my favorite "so bad it's good" movies. It's goofy, it's schlocky, it's over the top and so late-90's it could be cut into a music video for some nu-metal band. UAKA-CHAKA LET THE BODIES HIT THE FLOOR!!! lol
Edit: I just looked it up. OF COURSE SOMEBODY DID THAT ALREADY! :D

Flame is a symbolic weapon in the alien franchise. It was humanity's first defense against the dark and the unknown, which Giger's aliens were meant to represent. The use of flame to destroy the clone Ripleys is framing their creation as being as horrible as the egg and host process the aliens use, and Ripley is using the series most iconic weapon outside of the power loader to wipe the scourge from existence. I think you're nuts for finding that unintentionally hilarious, all I can say is that it always worked as it was meant to for me. This one is legitimately my favorite, and this review shows off a lot of what it has to offer. I see it as horror comedy, because I'm on the aliens' side in this one, these humans get what they deserve, alien Ripley is weird and cool as a character, and it's so fun to watch. Great job.

I actually saw this video on the moment you posted. Just finished the video. 😅
Anyways there’s too much I wanna talk about for me to type it all, I should just hit the bullet points.
I remember seeing bits of Resurrection on TNT, but never cared to watch. Was never interested in the Alien/Predator franchise. Except Predator 1. That’s a bonafide classic. Wasn’t a fan of Alien 3 either. I didn’t get the plot of the movie back then.
Brad Dourif is hella underrated. Child’s play, Cuccoo’s Nest and his performance in this flick were top notch. He’s underutilized.
To live long enough to grab a piece of your brain, look at it and drool in the process (likely due to a possible IQ drop), due to some powerful scary ass monster piercing a hole thru your skull… I rather be dead. That’s too disturbing for my psyche. Imagine being aware of your IQ dropping due to such trauma. Oof.
The clone scene was one of the main reasons I didn’t like Resurrection. My god.
I saw Alien and Aliens relatively recently and I liked them for different reasons. But I’m still not that big of a fan so I doubt I’ll ever watch 3 and 4 so it won’t sour my taste.
Yeah, this vid was so damn long, but I enjoyed it, as usual.
    Till the next one.

I think a sequel to this movie could be possible as an animated movie or series, maybe in the style of the Castlevania series or something more retro but stylish, like Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust.
The movie left off with Ripley 8, Call, Vriess and Johner on earth. That's a pretty interesting group and I'm sure a good writer could do something with that setting. It's definitely not needed but I wouldn't complain if we ever got something like that.

I have a problem with just one scene in this movie, where the crew of the Betty are delivering and handing over their human cargo, even if they did not know exactly what they were going to be ilused for. Well may be Call did know.
But that scene is in a way making then from the usually lovable pirates that we could care about when they started dying, to go fuck yourself and die, pirate scum.
It is a horrible fate for an ordinary worker to wake up from cryosleep and see a facehugger staring at him.
They should've done the human cargo thing differently and this crew would have certainly endeared themselves to tve audiences, and I'll try to justify that below.
You see, the crew of the Betty may resemble a family unit. with Elgyn being the dad, Hillard is the passionate and caring mom, Christy is the cool uncle, Johner is the spoilt brat and bully, Vreiss is the child born with a defect but loved anyways but makes himself useful with other things. And lastly Call, the hot babysitter for Johner and Vreiss.
    Just a thought!

    • @generationwhyentertainment2455
      @generationwhyentertainment2455  3 місяці тому +1

I think they wanted to make them likable enough so that like you’d care when they died but not too likable that you’d care that much. Since there’s a lack of fodder in this movie. I definitely see your perspective on this one tho. I think Johner surviving likely made him turn over a new leaf. And Vriess and Call are pretty hands off with operations anyway as they’re just mechanics

It's goofy, but I love it all the same. It feels like an adaptation of an old 90s Dark Horse Aliens comic, with crazy scientists on a remote facility trying to experiment on the alien and lots of weird and wacky characters. And I love those comics, so this fits perfectly with those. Small side note: the original opening sequence shows close ups of the failed Ripley clones 1-7.

Might just be my own nostalgia but c’mon Prometheus worse than A3??
I understand Covenant being the worst in the franchise (though honestly it’s so goofy and campy in its own right it might get a reevaluation in a decade when our society has re-accepted that this franchise’s undeath has already lasted about 2x as long as its life) but Prometheus is so much fun!
Anyway, I have no idea how your channel hit my algorithm but this was a fun retrospective into a movie and franchise I have nostalgia for (for similar reasons too, Resurrection really did play on cable so often), and I’m looking forward to a measured, fun dumping on A3!

I really despise this moronic idea that an actor needs to have the life experience of any character they might play. Ideally an actor should be a tabula rasa and therefore be able to play most any character.
Also, in modern Hollywood this is one of those “only applies in one direction” rules. You’ll never see Colin Farrell playing Malcolm X, but Denzel as Mick Jagger!? No problem!! Also, why does that rule always fail to apply to twins? Why is Hollywood constantly bypassing talented twins and choosing instead to just have an actor play dual roles?
It’s imbecile logic. All of it.

    • @generationwhyentertainment2455

Denzel Washington would never be cast as mick jagger wtf are you on about

@Steve-du2nz I think killing hicks and newt off was a gut punch but it goes with the theme of each of the trilogy representing the stages of grief
