This is how to do a rear differential fluid change on a 2013 to 2019 Ford escape. I know in the video I initially say fusion, but I was mistaken. It can be done with very little tools and is made a lot easier on a lift, but could be done from the ground or jackstands. Cording to Ford, this is not possible, but with a serpentine belt tool and a brake bleeder, I can be done. Hope this helps someo...

Cheap and easy barn door lock that looks great.
Переглядів 25 тис.3 роки тому
Here’s a quick video of how I made a lock for our newly installed barn door. Most barn doors aren’t going to come with a lock and if they do it’s a simple hook system, I didn’t like that look and I wanted something different. So I made this out of some scrap metal, even if you were to buy the metal it would probably be under $10, which is way cheaper than any you can buy on the market for a bar...

I find three things neat woth this; One, mine is a 2016, but looks exactly the same as yours, two we live in the same state, and three, oir playes are nearly identical. Also gonna have one hell of a day now to do this
Haha good luck. You got it
Looks like this is a 2013 or newer Escape. Pls update your video title to note that as earlier model years likely have some different steps/parts. Thanks very much.
You’re correct 2013 and up. If you can’t tell if yours is this same design year you shouldn’t attempt the repair.
Love this thanks for making this video!
Very well made video! Clear and concise. A great help since I'll be doing this exact job. Once again, thanks for posting this. Cheers!
No problem at all. That’s why I do it
omg. Thank you! I knew my camera came unplugged somehow and I'm going to fix it asap with this. No idea I could access it from inside the trunk.
Thank you
Make that slot tighter, if it's your room you'll know where the lock is if it's intruder they won't be able to see and use their pinky to unlatch it
Not a bad idea at all. This one is just on a bathroom and with the door being bigger than the opening you can’t see it so I didn’t feel the need to modify it too much.
Just finished fixing my truck using this video. My truck was thumping/knocking loudly every time the key was turned on, even if the HVAC was off. I felt at each of the actuators and it was hard to tell which one it was, because the knocking is transmitted through the entire ductwork so you can feel it at all of the actuators. But it seemed worst at this lower actuator. I followed the suggestion in another comment and only cut the top half of the vent, and then unclipped and removed the top half, leaving the bottom half in place. This allowed the top of the duct to be reattached later. I just used a long sawzall blade with duct tape wrapped around one end to use as a handle. Your blade can't be very tall or else it will hit some other plastic pieces and wont reach all the way to the far side of the duct. I made that mistake initially. You should poke around with the blade and reach around behind the duct with your other hand before you begin sawing and make sure you have snaked the blade successfully through the plastic maze and are actually sawing the entire duct and not just 75% of it. I think sawzall blades are ideal since they taper down to a thin point. I had to get pretty rowdy with a pry bar to flex the duct enough to get the old motor out, but nothing broke, so the ducts seem pretty resilient. If you have left the lower half of the duct in place like I did, make sure you pull the carpet out from underneath it so that it can be flexed down that extra tiny amount without being held up by the carpet. The new motors all seem to come with the missing tooth pointed directly forward. I tore apart the old broken actuator and took out the old male spline piece and marked it using a sharpie so that I could use it as a tool to orient the female socket correctly to match the new motor. This worked really well and the new motor instantly went into place easily. I also pulled fuse 46 in the passenger footwell once I was done, which supposedly does some sort of recalibration on the actuators; not sure if necessary or not, but didn't hurt anything. Thank you for the video.
Yo got a question
Would a gps system cause that also
OEM only on all mounts. It's pricey but worth it.
I definitely agree.
At least buy the Honda upper passenger side oil filled mount if you can’t swing all four from Honda.
Clutch! Thank you
worst video ever. Honestly. Why bother.
Did all this got the camera installed just made a small hole for my 2014 ford fusion to screw it in then I tied the wires to my left headlight cause of some other UA-cam and the camera still ain’t work. Basically asking where the heck do I wire it to get it to work.
If you buy the stock camera it just plugs right in. If you’re adding a camera it’s a whole different story
I changed and keep knocking, help?
Blend door is probably stuck. Pull out the motor and make sure it moves freely while out you can keep it plugged in and turn the temp. Make sure the actuator moves like it should
@@justthetipgarage5305 the actuator move as is should. I put it on and sound like is making a lot of pressure and stop and keep knocking. You think maybe is the other part where the actuator fit on?
It could be. I heard there’s also a relearn procedure for it but I’ve never experienced needing to do that.
How could Ford not have made that duct in two pieces so that the interfering part of the duct could be removed and then snapped back in place after swapping the blend-door motor. Actually I think you or I or anyone who knows how to weld plastic could maybe add a collar to the removed piece (using lap joints) so it would fit neatly back onto the stub and would be easily removeable in the future.
We all know the engineers never think about the mechanics. But yea absolutely and some comments on here have just glued it back on easily. But I left it off.
Thanks so much!
I would perfer using a paper tower to get the maximum shine out of whatever shining product your using
I put 4.8 quarts instead of 4.5 on accident is that fine or should i drain?
Check the dip stick but you’re probably fine.
@@justthetipgarage5305 thank you, will do!
Leave it be it's fine. I overfill my 95z28 camaro v8 with 1/2 an extra quart of oil 🛢 every summer ☀️ on purpose in south Texas I've owned the car for 14 years and it has a little over 330k miles on the car it is a 5 speed standard transmission and I change the oil every 5k miles and I use mobil one synthetic oil. I drive very conservative and my wife drives like a maniac it runs great flawlessly. My brother in law drives an 18 wheeler and he puts an extra quart in every oil change on purpose in the summer time although those are much bigger oil pans obviously. 😂 Kenworth W900 chrome with a cummins turbo diesel engine. Dark green and chrome with over 2 million miles on it. I drool seeing the truck every 4th of July BBQ cookout with the family every year. He's been driving his current truck for the last 9 years since he started his own company. After thought though engines run on un-level terrain all the time going up and down hils and mountains ⛰️ engines are designed with some extra space in mind I think. 1/2 quart on a camry or a corrolla won't hurt nothing or even if as high as 1 quart extra on a 1 ton truck even I'd think would be fine. Not enough oil bad and higher oil temperatures and obviously less lubrication available in the oil pan sump and to much of Any good thing can become a bad thing 😅
Poke the hole in the cap.
Pain in the ass is the understatement of the century when it came to getting the top one out. Such a stupid design those clips are.
Not good
Care to elaborate?
@@justthetipgarage5305 not really, you know.
Also remember to unplug the foglights
Of course!
I have the same noise found another channel and they replaced the exhaust Vct solenoid
Really? And that fixed it? I’ve always thought it was something like cam phasers/ timing chain tensioners etc.
Thanks for the video @justthetipgarage5305 Mine makes the same noise but when I turn the AC off the noise is gone... I've read that you had the noise no matter if you turned the AC on or off and @madfishing4813 had the opposite (noise when the ac is off but no noise when the ac is on)... Still the same replacement you think?
Yea it’s still the bearing or the clutch. It’s just the outside one when it’s engaged.
Thanks,🤙💪💪💪💪
I own a 07 civic lx.. car vibrates when being in parked or when I’m at a red light.! Is this issue from having bad motor mounts.?
Yup. That’s the most likely issue
Okay so I seen this video and I did it and I replaced it with a new one, well it didn’t seem to fix my problem I have a 2010 ford raptor and it blows straight heat on the driver side, passenger side works perfectly fine it has ac and heat but my driver side has no ac did I replace the wrong actuator?
If it’s the drivers side then it’s this actuator (the one on the bottom) id pull it out but leave it plugged in and test it to make sure it moves like it’s supposed to. Sounds like it’s either a bad actuator or not plugged in all the way. Etc. might also be a stuck blend door and the actuator can’t move it. You can reach in there and move the door manually with the old spline or sometimes a finger.
good job, always innovating
The New pipe doesnt have The 2 holes with The 2 heat shields covering them on this New pipe from what i see, has it affected the Floor Board of your car ?
Nope not at all. And you’re right new pipe doesn’t have heat shields. But we haven’t noticed a difference
Did this Vehicle have Fumes coming from that Exhaust pipe making its way inside the vehicle thru the AC vents ?
Yea you could hear it and smell it. Plus it failed inspection for it so we replaced it.
@@justthetipgarage5305 I Appreciate you and the video Im currently having the same problem, but now im gonna order the part and have it put on to replace the factory pipe solve this problem
No problem glad I could help. Make sure you get the nuts and bolts to or whatever the connection hardware is. Those spring bolts at the front tend to be bad if you live in the rust belt
Do you have the Amazon link to the camera ?
Just search it on there. It was easy to find when you type in your vehicle
@@justthetipgarage5305i can’t find the camera on amazon, is it possible to send a link, also does it have to be the stock version
Did you seat back heater quit working too?
It did and I fixed it myself in this video. I haven’t had any issues with it since.
Ok just see you replacing the bottom not the back one.
Oh got ya i misunderstood. No in my case the back one was fine. The bottom always goes out and they both will stop working. When you replace the bottom they both should work.
Ok cool. I plan on tackling mine. I’ll may go ahead and replace my cushion while I’m at it.
It takes some time but you got it. Just go slow.
I have a vibration issue in idle but none when driving or even in park. I have a 2013 Honda civic lx . I tried fuel system cleaners and replaced two motor mounts that were bad. Mechanic inspected the car through with a scanner. The issue is unfortunately still present. I am considering cleaning the throttle body and then giving up if nothing happens.
In my opinion it’s still engine mounts.
@@justthetipgarage5305 I was gonna call the mechanics again and ask them about it first. Maybe the vibration is a temporary effect of new mounts or perhaps the other mounts are also in a poor (but workable) condition.
Yea I replace all mounts at the same time. But the one that usually is the culprit is on the top of the engine on the left side. It supports the majority of the weight and wares out quicker than the rest.
@@justthetipgarage5305 is this the one most visible? Near the serpentine belt? The mechanics got that one.
I have the same exact issue, might just replace the whole ac compressor since it already has over 200k 💀
Probably a good call, but also means it would need the ac recharged.
can't understand a fucking word your saying!!!!!
Thanks a lot ford your engineers are genius with those stupid designs we ll figure it out anyway fuckers😮

I just attempted to change mine. I couldn’t get the tab to break on the bolt you can’t get to. Put it all back together and I will try another day. Any tips on getting it to break?
Pry harder. I used a harbor freight pry bar but any will do. Just get back as far as you can and push it down. It’ll snap. Plenty of other people said the same. It’s already broke, you can’t hurt it.
I will try again next weekend. I was scared of breaking something else! Thank you for your help!
Brother thank you for sharing. What a PITA. This is the only way to go!
Glad it worked! Always appreciate a follow!
thanks a ton.. same exact problem with my civic 2009... at a workshop right now.. So to summarize, replace the pully, barings and clutch?
Exactly. Problem is the bearings but might as well replace it all since it’s not a super easy fix
Everyone acting like this is so easy?!!!! I can't get the actual blend door out ! How did you get the other screw out?!
It’s not easy, but it is $1300 cheaper at least and doable. Front screw you can get out. Back screw you break off. Pry down and it will snap. Then you can remove the screw. Then the new one gets held in with only one screw. It’ll work fine. You got this.
Ya I have the front screw out and maybe I just need a min to calm down lol
Did you use a screw driver to pry
I used a medium sized pry bar. But a big screw driver will do. Just pry it straight down. It’ll snap
I got it lol the actually blend door motor broke so I had to get the screw out. Then the gear broke off in the spindle. Tip if that happens USE A SCREW ! SCREW IN THE THE HOLE AND PULL IT OUT!!
Different issue here but that’s good to know. As an auto locksmith I see a few of these a year.
Thanks for this. Used the same parts you described here and finally have a working brake controller on my 2018 F150. Snaking the wire through the firewall grommet and up to the glovebox area was a PITA.
Yea that’s honestly the worst part. But way cheaper than the dealer. Glad it helped. Don’t be afraid to subscribe
Would this work on oil?
Yup it should
