Hi. I hope you see this but what if the ignition is turned into the "locked" position? Can I still remove the top tree mount with the ignition module? Or with it being Locked create an issue? Thank you.
Haha funny thing… I have the key… the ignition switch pins are just welded by rust for some “unknown “ reason lol.. gotta swap it .. I just can’t wait for the time the switch comes in. Feels like too many good days I could be riding instead of sitting and watching other guys on their bikes pass by… sigh…. I fucking looove riding… it’s my one and only drug
What is the ignition switch name on amazon. I need the all 3 pieces. But cant find one that actually fits. I have sane model bike and year. Please respond
Hello mate, very nice video! I bought exactly the same model 03' R6 but someone previously bypassed the immobilizer so the bike starts. However it drains my battery badly, if I buy new ignition like you, ECU doesn't need to be reprogrammed?
Great video to help an amateur with changing his lock instead of paying $285 for Yamaha to make 2 keys
That’s the goal

Nope. Even if it’s locked this will work just fine
@@justthetipgarage5305 THANK YOU!
Absolutely. Don’t be afraid to subscribe

Yup I hear ya man. Maybe a bunch of rust penetrant down in the key hole? Can’t hurt. And might free it up.

Just type in your year and model bike and ignition switch into Amazon. For example 2003 Yamaha r6 ignition switch. It’ll tell you which ones fit.

Nope, wouldn’t need reprogrammed at all.
@@justthetipgarage5305 did you had immobilizer fitted on this bike or you are in US as these models doesn't have it ?
The US my friend.
With the replacement from Amazon, did it come with a key?
@@KeithJenkinsJr yup
What’s the plug with the 2 blue wires for please can’t find out no where
Honestly it’s part of the harness and I didn’t test it, my guess is probably power to lights or something, with heavier gauge wire to the starter.
Is it the same for a 2012 yamaha r6
Probably similar but not the exact same. I’ve never looked into it
Would this work on a 2003? What year is the bike in the video?
The bike I’m the video is a 2003 so yes.
Was the bike in steering lock?
It was not. Although even if it was you’d still be able to do this.
@@justthetipgarage5305 so far i am not able to do this as mine is in steering lock, the triple clamp won’t come off
@@OptimallFilms drill the lock and get it out of steering lock. Going to replace the lock anyway.
Thank you answered my question, I lost my key as well
So this is an plug & play no rectifier or bypass for ecu being after market ignition
What year r6 is this
2003
What was the size of the bolt that you cut out was it an M8 or M6 1.25!?
I have no idea.
