Cheap and easy barn door lock that looks great.

- Here’s a quick video of how I made a lock for our newly installed barn door. Most barn doors aren’t going to come with a lock and if they do it’s a simple hook system, I didn’t like that look and I wanted something different. So I made this out of some scrap metal, even if you were to buy the metal it would probably be under $10, which is way cheaper than any you can buy on the market for a barn door. Make that slot tighter, if it's your room you'll know where the lock is if it's intruder they won't be able to see and use their pinky to unlatch it
Not a bad idea at all. This one is just on a bathroom and with the door being bigger than the opening you can’t see it so I didn’t feel the need to modify it too much.

A definite no, that's going to damage the finish of the door significantly over time.
It’s been in for almost 2 years now. No damage to the door and it’s the most used bathroom / door in our house.
@@justthetipgarage5305 No scratches? dings? I can see that latch accidentally left in the lock position and the door being pushed i to it.....
The latch really only gets used when guests come over. Because this door is frosted glass you can see the lights on if someone is in there. One of the kids didn’t fully close the door when locking it and it left a tiny scratch but I fixed it with a brown sharpie. Can’t even tell
