The History of the Church is Not Like a Disney Movie... and that's a good thing.
I've come to understand that the history of the Church of Latter-day Saints, isn't as straightforward as I once thought. The simple narratives I grew up with have been replaced by a realization that life is full of complexities and gray areas. But amid all these complexities, I've found a grounding peace in the teachings of Jesus Christ. In a world that often rushes to judgment, I've learned to appreciate the Gospel's call for deeper understanding and perspective. Through all the chaos and challenges, Jesus Christ's consistent message of love and acceptance continues to be the compass that guides my life.

Ask God with a sincere heart and He WILL tell you. All doubt flees and it matters not what anybody says! But these people want to go out and experience the world without consequence, if so fine go and do it. Don't waste time online arguing about whats right and trying to justify it, go and experience it for yourself and you will know whats right for you! The church is the right place for so many people although you may think its not right. Your right I got my answer when I said to God I will be baptised if I know Joseph was a prophet and what he brought to light was true and of you! The greatest manisfestion of love is to forgive people of their sins against you, Christ not only forgives our sins and those who killed Him, but wants to suffer for OUR sins thats a next level above that again, and we are not even capable of doing it! That's a bar I will never reach in this world, its the greatest manifestation of love that you will ever come across ever, you cannot rise above that.

The “ISM” of Perfection-ism is the cultural downfall for most of us, because we ALL inherited some false beliefs from ancestors (D&C 123). We either sink by drowning in them, or we soar from ruin to rebirth! That’s the pattern: Creation, The Fall, Redemtion! 🎉 The root word for Perfection is completion, and wholeness (holiness?). None of us are there (yet! 😝), so we are of infinite worth in the process. The rest is whether we learn to love better and better (including ourselves). 😇

Thank you Ashly, for your comments about those who are questioning things about the church, reading anti stuff and struggling. My daughter is 42 and is really upset about the amount of money the church has, and is questioning why isn’t the church helping with the homeless in Salt Lake City- to the point that she no longer pays tithing beca 56:13 use, in her opinion, the church has more than enough money, and don’t need hers.Being extremely sensitive and other physical problems she has- we got into a big disagreement. This podcast with you and the host of it, the things you both said have softened my heart and helped me see her in a different light and to really see her struggle and give her the grace and love she needs- thank you and God bless you for all you do -

I came back to the church after 30 years. I battled addiction, BUT after the death of my dad I became active and did my Endowments on Tuesday. I'm living proof that if I can do it anyone can! I'm sure glad I did!

Wow the honestly and vulnerability. That has sincerely been one of my missions too. I left the church and came back after 9 yrs of inactivity. I delved into drinking and sexual addictions more than drugs, but the repentance process was the same. For 7 years, through 2022 I was our ward's gospel doctrine teacher and for the last 1.3 yrs, I have been facilitating "Teaching in the Savior's Way" in our ward with my husband. I have felt incredibly inspired the past 3 years or so to find ways to inspire people to share and be vulnerable. When we are struggling or have gone through struggles in our life, we bring strong testimony to the principles of the gospel when we come out on the other side. Or, if we're in the struggle, if we share, open up, be vulnerable, we can pull helpful advice and endearment from someone else in our faith community. Anyway, I'm rambling...I just feel strongly that unless we open up and become vulnerable and HONEST, He can't dwell with us as a people and he won't return to us. We must be one, as He and His Father are one. We have a long way to go. But with young people like you sharing and facilitating...we just might get there!

As quoted by President Eyring “when you meet someone, treat them as if they were in serious trouble, and you will be right more than half the time.” The struggles that people face may not be evident like smelling like cigarettes or track marks, but they are there. I would rather have people at church helping each other and sharing their struggles.

Great example! Miss your videos. Hope you're not gone permanently. I feel like early leaders are very much like a Disney movie🤣. There's betrayal, murder, framing etc.... After reading Joseph smith papers and studying them, I found he wasn't a polygamist and was sealed to a 14 year old but all sealings took place AFTER his death. Polygamy was never from God. In fact, the author of polygamy was Cain. Heber C Kimball was the first to start polygamy but behind Joseph back. Anyway, I've been studying the papers, have taken these questions to God and know without a doubt that polygamy was man made doctrine. God never used women to birth a man's kingdom. Polygamist women had far fewer children than monogamous couples. Both Brigham and Heber took wives from other men, breaking up families promising celestial kingdom if they chose them instead. My testimony is stronger knowing God doesn't use his daughters that way👍😇🙏. I completely agree with everything you said. When we put all our faith and trust in our prophets... we're forgetting who God is. We follow the prophet but we don't put him above God🤍😊

What a ridiculous conclusion. what if chat GPT had written exactly what you requested. and, by the way, chat GPT would absolutely write this if you took it one chapter at a time or one paragraph at a time. The Book of Mormon is no more ridiculous than every religion on the planet because it too was man-made, man maintained, and man spread. my life changed so much for the better when I gave up Christianity. it's hard to do and it's a core belief for you but it is ridiculous. You would enjoy life much more without religion in it. it's just part of our society. good luck.

Has anyone noticed that she takes inspiration from random coincidence? I imagine most people that leave do so because their shelves collapsed. She doesn’t mention any study outside of the BoM. She didn’t leave because she got tired of mental gymnastics, she found something else to occupy her mind. Take a community college class or two, you’d be surprised what you can learn.

There's sooooooooo much to say on response to this gentleman. I'd love to know what specifically led to him leaving the church, since thus far, everything he had concerns with has a logical answer. His points are good! One point that I would take issue with is that members of the church have only one emulator (as one of your previous guests pointed out), and that is Jesus Christ. Not the prophets, not Joseph Smith, not bishops or stake presidents. Just Jesus Christ. As such, everyone else is part of a gorgeous, albeit very imperfect, Divine tapestry. ❤

Took me 10 years to leave the church with a copious amount of research. I wish I could have a conversation with this guy. He acts as if there isn't a valid reason to leave the LDS church. It's like me saying you haven't left yet...hmm, you just need to think more. He strawmans Joseph Smith's character instead of talking about Joseph Smith (who is 2nd unto Christ in his righteousness 😊) reprehensible behavior. He then says he doesn't want to get political and then gets political.
