  • In a world that often focuses on reasons to leave, this video explains my reasons to stay in the LDS Church.

Love the videos. My criticism here is that there is no guarantee that paying your tithing will help you at all financially. You will be blessed, but not necessarily financially. There are tons of faithful lds people that need financial help with things like food and rent. They aren’t being punished for not paying tithing. They are likely full tithe payers. But god isn’t an amazing atm.

You're right. There is no financial guarantee when you pay tithing. I’ve learned that tithing isn't a get-rich-quick scheme. As President Gordon B. Hinckley said, "The Lord will open the windows of heaven according to our need, and not according to our greed." Blessings do come, but they may not be financial. As Elder David A. Bednar has said, "The imagery of the 'windows' of heaven used by Malachi is most instructive. Windows allow natural light to enter into a building. In like manner, spiritual illumination and perspective are poured out through the windows of heaven and into our lives as we honor the law of tithing." So, it's not just about money; it's about spiritual blessings, which can, in fact, be far more valuable.
As for my own personal experiences, I can say that for me, paying tithing has always led to more financial stability, not less. President James E. Faust said, "I can bear testimony that the law of the tithe is true. I have tested it and have found that the windows of heaven have been opened to pour out blessings I could hardly contain."
If we’re looking at tithing as a sort of divine ATM, we’re missing the point. It's about faith, obedience, and allowing God to bless us in ways that may or may not be financial. We’re not buying blessings; we’re showing faith that blessings will come, as they have been promised by prophets, ancient and modern. Thank you for your comment 🙌🏼

If your reason to not leave the Church is because it will lead to question the assumptions of belief you have been given, it's probably not a good reason to stay then...sounds like staying in is the easy thing to do cuz not questioning things is easy to do..As the former president of the BYU Faith and Reason club, there are many good reasons to leave, and some people that leave are happier outside than their experience was inside. Why should anyone not of our faith question their assumptions of belief, if it pushes them into the uncomfortable unknown?

@@stephanl6279 "I am a firm believer in slavery" Yet held no slaves. It's not as simple as you say. Brigham Young and Orson Spencer spoke in favor of legalizing and regulating slavery, allowing enslaved men and women to be brought to the territory but prohibiting the enslavement of their descendants and requiring their consent before any move. This approach would guarantee the eventual end of slavery in the territory.
The real question is what are you angry about? I've met so many members of other faiths and worldviews. The least racist ? Yep you guessed it.
