Well, no. This is the same type of flora and fauna that you'd find in "the everglades". The Everglades National Park entrance is South of the Homestead General Aviation Airport, where I used to keep my aircraft (West of Miami). We flew over the park often, and it is very marshy and wet. Though not technically "the everglades", the undeveloped wild wetlands extend up the central core of Florida, all the way to Jacksonville.

Your father's nieces (daughters of your Aunt Peggy) saw the CTRR when they were here last week for a few hours to visit! They come down from Indianapolis to a place every year for a few months. It just happens to be only 40 minutes from us, so this is our fourth time getting together. That's all the news from Lake Wobegone ... :)

Quite a compliment, I must say, indeed! Yes, it has developed to a satisfactory level of completion, certainly enough to display and use. There are a lot of problems and things that need to be added or adjusted or even replaced, but ... it's like we used to say ... "Is it good 'enough' ?" I will now work on it at a much less furious pace of buying materials and building with them. However, I need to add ballast to the track, sides to the bridges, telephone lines connecting all the telephone poles and light poles. I have already scratch=built some buildings for the left and right front corners that look really good and so I will do a video about them. I'm considering replacing (upgrading) the buildings in the town to a more ornate and picturesque diorama. I appreciate and look forward to seeing your comment. I know you've been watching all along, so yes... that's quite a compliment. 😎

The video work or the flying? The video work involves pressing the start button. The post-production video editing is very "plain vanilla", nothing special. If you're saying the flying is breathtaking... I can attest to that, because it scares the B-geez's out of me every time.

Thanks! I think it's best to have a 'vision' of what you want, your 'dream' of what the scenery should look like... and then stick to it. There are so many products out there, because modelmaking is just something people do, and have been doing for a very long time, in fact, thousands of years. Electric trains for the general consumer has been around over 75 years. The industry is always trying to catch up to the demands of the hobbyists, so there is a LOT of stuff on the market. Thanks again.

The pier and the pier restaurant are closed. I was visiting from Lakeland, FL, so I don't know much about the area, but everywhere we stayed, shopped, or dined had no indication to me of any kind of storm.

Thank you very much. I was granted a Private Pilot License in 1996, did a lot of radio-controlled airplane flying, and then bought my first drone (a DJI Phantom 3) in 2015. The trains run and run for hours. I let them run and go do what I have to do (laundry, clean up the garage, take a shower) and when I come back they are still running. I do operate them every day, usually for an hour or more, instead of watching TV!

As you can tell from the video, they irrigate the soccer field, which is lush and green. The rest of the campus is, for the most part, brown and dry, because so little falls from the sky.

It was great to meet you guys, talk about trains and drones, and to shoot video of that spot and see the trains go by us. I'm glad you like the video. I would really like to hear what suggestions you might have about great railspots to watch trains in this area. Maybe we will meet again!!

I didn't want to get too close. I have seen other dudes land on a truck or something, but not me.... not yet.😁

Lots of Agri-life in mid-Florida: cattle, dairy, fruits and veggies. That Purina plant makes feed for farm animals, all kinds I suppose. We are going to look for that abandoned plant tomorrow, and shoot video there. As for this area, we are so far East of Tampa that it's more rural. Orlando is an hour drive away from us. We lived in Plant City (a few miles West, toward Tampa) for a year before we bought this house in Lakeland. They host an enormous two-week Strawberry Festival in Plant City every year. Strawberry everything. Strawberries as big as baseballs. Sundaes, shortcakes, and shakes. This year's lineup of entertainment includes the Oak Ridge Boys, the Gatlin Brothers, Tanya Tucker, Tommy James and the Shondells, Bill Haley and the Comets, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and the man himself, Willie Nelson. Yeah, it's like a state fair, with a midway of rides, exhibits, food, vendors, etc. Just 30 miles East of Tampa so there is some 'urban spillover' coming out of the city for the big event. Otherwise this is a relatively sleepy place, which is just how I prefer it. OH YEAH... I forgot... It is quite serene until I show up with a racing drone flying all around everywhere. I try to demonstrate to my precious human friends on the ground that the drone can be maneuvered carefully and precisely under the pilot's control and well out-of-the-way of threatening any person or personal property. Just sayin', that's what's on my mind. I spied those two people on the walking path so I came back around to hover by them.

The lows are dipping into the 30s here, which is as cold as it gets in Floor-ida, but it will be warming again in a few days. There will be 16 of our family members at my house today. Doctors Ryan and Kym (with Kennedy & Kellen) were here for 2 days & left on the 15th to return to Seattle. It was so great to meet and get to know my grandchildren. It changes you. It's hard to explain. Merry Christmas.
