  • New RGBIC COD Addressable LED Strip Lighting!!! I removed the old, failing LED strip lights, which are like $20 for 30 feet and some capabilities, but not many. This was only 16 feet for over $50. It requires twice the power (24V) and has a pretty nice controller (make sure it has the power supply and controller!) There is no gap or shadow between the lights, and the digital animated displays in a thousand colors are amazing. There's a wifi app for it but I haven't gone that far yet. This has so transformed the lighting of the railroad, that I am moving the overhead desk lamp to Linda's desk.
I was trying to come up with a name for the town. I lived a couple of years in Elkhart, Indiana, when I was 6 years old, attended first grade. I used to play on the tracks in the rail yard, and talk to the hobos. Ya, I was 6! But I decided not to name my railroad after Elkhart. Then there's my late uncle, Joseph Bernard (Brian) Joyce, who graduated Summa Cum Laude from Notre Dame University, who was a truly brilliant man. He spoke Latin and German, had a quick wit, and a driven sense of humor. He influenced my actions throughout my life. Well he had a 30+ year career as the manager of the Social Security Administration office in Pocatello, Idaho (still located at 861 Jefferson Avenue, Suite B, 83201). The terrain there is similar and there's a lot of track and very big yards there. Sadly Uncle Brian left us some years ago. But my memories of him live on, and so my little storybook railroad will be located in Pocatello, ID.

I love how much detail you put inside the coffee table to make it look so amazing and the different LED colors make it even better

Thanks! I think it's best to have a 'vision' of what you want, your 'dream' of what the scenery should look like... and then stick to it. There are so many products out there, because modelmaking is just something people do, and have been doing for a very long time, in fact, thousands of years. Electric trains for the general consumer has been around over 75 years. The industry is always trying to catch up to the demands of the hobbyists, so there is a LOT of stuff on the market. Thanks again.

Aww, that was so sweet that you thought of Dad. Your little "Pocatello" is positively magical! I'm sure Dad is enjoying it from above!
