HubNotes is the sister channel to HubNut, which is primarily a motoring channel. HubNotes is run by Ian Seabrook and covers non-automotive themes for the most part.
Testing times for Hublets, Berlingo camper, Austin 7 adventure planned!
What's going on at @HubNut HQ? This stuff. I also explain why uploads will be a little sporadic over winter.

Roadkill is no more. A random Brit gives his thoughts.

I love Roadkill and am saddened it is no more (albeit one final series is yet to be aired). Everyone else is talking about it so I thought I'd join in. That show means a lot to me and is an inspiration.
NEC survival diary - gosh that was tiring!

What an exhausting weekend! Great fun though. Thanks to everyone who came to say hello. This isn't as long as I'd hoped as I generally just collapsed into bed every night and was flat out busy during the days at the show. Just a little insight. Thanks

Should you move to rural Wales? What is it REALLY like?
Переглядів 131 тис.Місяць тому
I moved to rural Wales 14 years ago. There is some good and some bad about how that went. What is the reality of living here? Do you need to speak Welsh? Can you live without the convenience of city life? Just some personal thoughts of mine. You're welcome to disagree or have you found the same? #wales #rural #betterlife

another great video has always Ian and Carly miss/mrs hubnut and hublets and hubmutt 👍
Thanks for the catch-up. If you're anything like me, life simply gets in the way of projects. I live in an old house that needs constant attention, there are certain rooms I enter and immediately regret.....
I was just wondering how your relationships with the Hublets was and is looking pretty good and a a couple you do complient each other and Miss Hubnut will give anything a go when it comes to mechanical stuff
Why does a car have to be "iconic" Ian? 1:20
Great video. Any miss hub nut content soon?
Don't apologise family comes first. Wishing the hublets the best with their exams very stressful time.
Bungalows sought after for the retirees
be aware also of collisions down the narrow roads as many locals drive too fast, it rains forever also, service is sloooooooooooooow too much chat in supermarkets, hospitals particularly Bronglais in Aberystwyth are very good, housing is cheaper but has gone up a lot in the last few years , hard to find anyone to do any work at all ie gardener, cleaner etc you may as well go self employed as it seems they all want £15hour minimum and thats the bare minimum. My Mum is very close to Hub Nut
I've never seen Roadkill or any of the others you mentioned. But I have been watching a YT channel which seems a little similar on a smaller scale called JunkyardDigs for years. Finding and fixing up old motors and driving them home. Sometimes throwing in a challenge.
Family comes first plus this time of the year it's best to be safe with the roads
I thought you were paid the same as a premiership footballer [£150,000 a month] Seems I was optomistic.
Felt disparaged when I offered to help with homework for my daughter who was around 12 at the time and was flatly told 'No, you won't understand it.'😢
Like the old ad 'i couldn't bake better bread myself than mother's pride' . Sad all gone now.
Glad to hear you're taking a bit of time out. I hope knowing that the unit is full of paused projects isn't causing undue stress. As much as they're all worthy causes, a less stressed Ian should take priority over simple project count, as exciting all the projects can be. At least you acknowledge the ups and downs of full-time UA-cam, and seem to do a fantastic job managing that and reminding us viewers of the necessity of a healthy work-life balance.
Good luck with your first trip away but I would recommend getting a electric lead that's used for tenting and put through the front passenger window or driver's fit some of those wind deflectors so you won't get any rain coming in then you can have a low wattage fan heater kettle and any other appliances you need otherwise it will be freezing
I discovered your channel just after you got back to Wales from here (Australia). I've become addicted to your videos. Thanks to you I'm now a Citroen Xantia owner. About a month ago I bought a spare one with 450,000kms on it for spares and I drove it 1000kms home from Queensland. It drove so well, I now want to restore it. I nearly bought another one two weeks ago but I thought having three would be ridiculous so I bought an excellent 1990 V6 Alfa 75 instead. Life is great in cars with character!
Ahhh exams, that takes me back. IMO one of the worst ways in which to grade Intelligence. Still, that’s my history. May the Hubletts strive in whatever they turn their hands to.
Seems changeable weather is worldwide. Here in Dandenong Australia it just went down from 37C to 22C in less than an hour - winds from the Antarctic is cold!
Yey Dandenong! My birthplace! 👍
I can vouch for the hail , was on my way back from Welsh pool , progress was interesting to say the least .
Oh dear, as layers of management and educational theory aim to make assessment fairer, the burden on the learners gets heavier and heavier. When I were a lad, we didn't even do mock GCEs and A levels, and that kind of sudden death is a bit extreme. But the alternative seems to be a world where assessment is the focus practically all the time. Little time for the joy of learning (for those for whom it is a joy), let alone being young and maybe foolish.
Family first...get it done Hublets! Embarrass your Mom and Ian, get better scores than they did!
Thanks for sharing!! I found this to be a very helpful and informative video as someone who is studying the history of Wales, while also attempting to learn Welsh!
A portable gas stove, kettle, hot water bottles, and if you've got access to water at a campsite, you can soon generate lots of 'sleeping warmth'. Layers of bedding and sleeping in sweat shirts and joggers, you can be toast. I've slept in the back of a Transit Van in winter conditions. Mind you, expect some condensation in the morning
Good luck Hublets, we are all following you guys😅
Nothing to apologise for.Ian. Family comes first. Hope the first camping in Bella goes smoothly
Get a diesel heater properly fitted into the micro camper .
I genuinely don't think we'll use it enough for that to be worth the hassle and expense.
Good bit of waffle there.😁 Good luck to the hublets 👍
Best wishes to the Hublets. I believe GCSE and A levels are tougher than when I did them in the 70s.
I was searching for a low milieage 2018ish Berlingo petrol but they seem to be very few and far apart in SE England.
Petrols generally were always pretty scarse.
Eventually I'll have to switch to a versatile petrol mpv ideally choosing a Berlingo seeing as my reliable swb van is now being steadily priced off the road.
They'll be fine. We'll be fine. The tinkering on the Corsa was good this week. How about producing a video of a blank screen about 5 minutes long. You tube won't care and we can watch it in the background and you can get money for it with minimal effort.
An idea but we do like to create content people actually want to watch.
THANKS FOR A' GOOD ViDEO!! 😉👍😏
There was very testing wintry wet weather in North Wales around Mpld / Chester last night, I was very glad to have new Goodyear Vector 4 Seasons tyres on the front of my Brava.....
Priorities.
Welcome to the real world, get on with it
👍👍👍👍🌶😎😎😎😎
All the pants weather is my fault. 10 days ago i put my Bridgestone all-seasons under my Berlingo. Soz!
What is it with the UK these days, an inch or two of snow and everything comes to a grinding halt, I can remember the winter of 62-63 trudging through 2 feet of snow to school a few mile away, the few teachers that were late or missing travelled by train, the morning ones often delayed whilst the tracks and third rail de-iced or cleared of overnight snow. Buses running as normal, often delayed though, but fitted with chains on drive wheels. The Milkman as regular as ever but was a shortage of milk bottles as many buried under snow on peoples door steps not seen and collected by the milky. Come on people, get prepared for real winter weather the start of November, set of chains and a folding shovel, entrenching tool - for the use of in stores issue parlance, in the boot along with some strips of old carpet to place under spinning wheels, attached to rear by rope so one doesn't have to stop until on a firm surface with some grip.
I've done Hessian sacks on ropes rather than carpet. Not old enough to remember '63, but keep a small snow shovel in the car and use winter tyres. If it's bad enough for chains travelling can pretty much wait. Modern plastic bumpers will be destroyed if the snow's that deep anyway. North of Scotland gets a bit more snow, makes more sense to be ready for it here. Driving in snow is easy, dealing with traffic in snow is a nightmare.
@@grahamleiper1538 Whatever happened to the grit bins on street corners, people cleared the road outside their house and spread the grit, salt is useless when below -10, gritted flat frozen surface is better than rutted frozen slush. A local Farmer, they are responsible for clearing roads around their farms, used the yard scraper to clear snow down to about 2" deep, spread grit with the spreader then rolled the surface flat, all done at the same time with all attached to an old Massey, sometimes he'd borrow my Landy as had a rear PTO if the Massey wouldn't start, yard scraper jury rigged to front bumper, mounting eyes welded to bumper. Modern cars act like snow ploughs with low plastic bumpers, not helping progress in snow deeper than 3". A snowy and cold winter was a lucrative time, pulling eejits out of ditches with the Landy.
@@tonys1636 we still have yellow grit bins, usually in strategic locations. Salty sand. I've pulled someone out of the way with a towrope before but more common is pushing by hand. You still often see kids help pushing cars up hills. Makes up for the ones throwing snowballs. Big bucket loaders are brilliant for dealing with drifts. We also have people with "real" 4x4s and even Unimogs rescuing people from drifts locally. It's nowhere near as bad as made out.
Hi Ian Carly and the hublets thanks for the update. Family must come first, everything else can be replaced. I hope like myself most people appreciate how much work you put in to keep us entertained. 👍👍
The Hublets come first, especially at this crucial age for their futures!
Things certainly have changed with exams even since I finished school in 2001, much like yourself we had everything all lumped in at the end in Year 11, doing the mocks in 2000 and then the actual GCSEs in 2001, though in my case my results were absolutely rubbish (I blame dysgraphia which makes my handwriting very difficult to read, so the xaminers probably just binned my papers!)... :P
Such is the clear, uncomplicated, efficient, high quality of the current UK school and education system
At least they aren't concentrating the stress level but spreading it out a bit
I spent a night (i wouldn't say 'slept', exactly) in my Morris 8 2-seater tourer on my way up from Norfolk to the Highlands. I imagine even a Dacia Jogger would be comfortable in comparison!
So you need Arctic clothing if you're going out with the Austin 7, preferably in a fluorescent colour for contrast. 😁
I'm a Borg. My Name is 1 of 12,300!
Thanks for the update. Best wishes to the Hublets as they do their exams. 🎉
I genuinely feel for Hublets. Far too much testing these days. I never went to uni, I was far too thick for that. It became obvious fairly quickly
Not to worry about releasing regular content, hopefully those of us contributing our 1.99s, buying merch, like and subscribe etc prove we will support The Hubnuts whatever. Back in the Dark Ages 😂 when i was doing CEEs and As i got quite a bit of pre test driving experience with Mum and/or Dad visiting UEA- 300+m round trip, Bristol Uni and others , guessing insurance for the Hubletts may be a bit more complicated these days (Named drivers still a thing) ? Good luck for their exams + driving and your camping🥶.
I sense a lack of intent and affection to the channel here.... I jest of course. Stay safe as I'm told Wales can be tricky to cope with in the winter 😉
Nice 😊
No worries Ian family comes first your doing your best.. Good luck to the Hublets.😊
