Head to ‪@WhitelandRestorations‬ to see what's going on with the Charade...

    Dear Reader,
A small token of admiration for the human response of Mr. HubNut to one of his fellow men.
Yes we can bomb everybody to hell in proxy wars, but we still can be kind to each other on a personal level.
So...all the Citroëns brake down, one after the other. That's very encouraging to know when you try to decide if you want to buy an GSA, CX or BX.
And not only that, but also a Citroën without rust.
One should never give up, trying to get the unattainable.
    Michel F. van den Brun
    Stubborn Dutchman

It's great that you provided a tick on someone's bucket list Ian with Elle. I'm sure that meant a lot. Our time on this ball is limited. Bella has worked very hard for the HubNutter clan since she was adopted so it's not surprising that she needs a little TLC. Giselle behaving is great, maybe that was part of her plan wanting to get out more after her many niggles although not all her fault as explained in earlier videos .OK I'll admit it, Elle is my favourite of the fleet, along with TWC, they both have great personalities and always bring a smile when we see the the various antics of the cars. Many thanks for sharing.

The crank pulley on a 2.0HDI are very easy and fast to change, it's basically just a one bolt job, when the wheel and inderfender are removed. But the bolt are tightened HARD! An GOOD impact wrench makes life easy here. Less than ½ hour job for any competent mechanic. I have changed that pulley on an 206 with 2.0HDI more than once. 🙂

My crank pulley failed back in February ☹️. I was down in Devon when I noticed a slight rattle somewhere but couldn't see anything obvious. Drove home ok but noise got worse and I found a piece of thin metal down by said pulley. You could see the pulley was vibrating now so got my son inlaw to change it which didn't take long so not much to fret about Ian should be an easy fix.

Ian, when replacing the crank pulley on Bella just be careful that the timing doesn't jump, I know on the newer DW10 engines that the crank pulley for the timing belt has an elongated keyway giving it a small amount of adjustment, and the camshaft pulley is fixed, I'm fairly certain these older ones are fixed at the bottom and adjusted at the top instead but worth sticking a drillbit in everything just to make sure!

I always changed the crank pulley along with timing belt on 2.0 HDi engines as they seldom last much beyond 100k and can wipe out the timing belt cover and timing belt if they let go. Water pump is worth swapping out too at the price it costs.

But it have nothing to do with the timing belt. It only drives the accessory belt and are seperate from the crank pulley that drives the timing belt. The damper pulley are very easy to change. It's basically an 1 bolt job.
The timing belt often lasts longer than the pulley. I have just changed a 9 year old belt on a 2.0HDI, it did still appear like new. A mechanic I know have an customer with an 2.0HDI in a 406 that for now have run 14 years on the same timing belt.

Remember the Barra, didn't come out until 2002, and then the availability of a 6 speed ZF gearbox - used by both Falcon and Commodore to the end. Better adapted in the Ford. This results in a better fuel economy and some better aerodynamics - particularly FG 1 and better looking FG 2. The FG-X has the most economical version with the Spanish built 2.0 litre 4 Ecoboost turbo - a taxi in Wollongong is running one without problems - similar acceleration to standard six. But better economy, because it is lighter. Also best braking and turn in. Should have been better marketed. Lighter auto. Sadly no XR-4 version. LPG dedicated - eco LPi - was better than the standard six - this goes past 1,000,000 kms in taxi fleets with no overhauls yet - still sellable and roadworthy, particularly last "series" 3 wagons with 6 auto and some FG thingys, but in BF 11 body. If only markets around the world kept LPG - we have more than enough, and should still be being sold. Just ridiculous.
FG-X had to conform to US desire to look Ford worldly, by giving it a Mondeo/Taurus front end and a Jaguar rear light end. Not bad, but not Aussie. LED the last FG 2 taillights and use XR-6 FG-X lights, combined with FG 2 rest of front to get the right look. Using the daytime running lights, showing the evolution of the XR 6 and FPV and Sprint, Tickford, Pro-Drive quad headlight look.
