In one week I'll be finalizing the purchase of my Italian house and I'm still having second thoughts. I think it's just typical jitters about doing something that is completely new and foreign to me. Переглядів 1,1 тис.4 місяці тому
Everything is moving along nicely on the purchase of my Italian house. The closing is set and plans are made to get a codice fiscale. I'm also arranging for the locks to be re-keyed and the power to be turned on. I'm not planning on staying there this fall, but I do plan on spending 3 months (the maximum with my tourist visa) in the spring. That's when I'll really get things started. Stay tuned!

It went so quickly for you(and me)! Are you going to be a resident of Italy? In September, I'll be moving forward with my move to Italy( unless I have a bad day at work 😂)! I love the style of homes in the Piedmonte region, but I never want to be cold again.
Hey Mike, Rick from Ridgway. We cant wait to watch you renovate the italian villa. When do suspect that will start? I think your place has amazing potential. I've built and renovated several places and I love the process. Not sure about you but Im already getting cabin fever not being able to ride. Luckily I have a baja trip scheduled in March.
I voted against your expanded channel. But go ahead and do it. It might be the thing that really pushes you over the top. Or do just the Italian thing, that might be big and evolve into something. I just want to watch you make a home in Italy though.
Well on your way to 2k subscribers- well done! You deserve it 😊
Amazing! I am just now looking at buying a place now in Sicily to start my journey
Go for it!
Buon anno nuovo!🎊
Grazie. Happy New Year to you too.
So happy for you and fulfilling your dream in Italy! I have found that watching videos of higher end homes for sale in Italy will give you great ideas for your renovations. Best of luck to you for 2025!
Great idea! I'm sure there are some good ones out there.
Nicely done Mike!
Grazie mille!
Happy New Year!
Grazie mille! It's already off to a great start.
I'll be there next year as well, moving from Lake George, Colorado. Congrats on your journey!
Right on! You're not to far from me in Colorado. Where are you looking in Italy?
I’m looking all over but thinking Lazio/Frosinone/Arpino area
@@dalepellerinGreat choice - everyone has their own preferences. Having visited many of the regions, I prefer and believe the authentic Italian culture, spirit and people are around this area. Oh, and the value for money when more than an hour from Rome. Good luck 😊
Beautiful new Italy home....Happy New Year from Siena in Summerlin Las Vegas !
Grazie, and Happy New Year to you!
Happy New Year, Mike. I hope everything is going well and hope we get an update soon!
Merry Christmas
Cheeky viewer! I'd be so disappointed 😮❤🇦🇺 It was a pretty nasty thing to do!
Thanks for mentioning the galvanized pipes. I would not have thought of it.
A notary in Italy is a lawyer with one more year of University just like in Quebec, Canada or like in France called le notaire.
How much?
Watch out for the Donkeys out there on your rides! Splat!
And lots of cows. 😂
@aroundtheworldwithmike I remember moving to AZ and see one of those portable highway signs on I17 near Black Canyon City. "CAUTION Watch fir donkeys 🫏! I thought it was hacked until I got to work.
Hi Mike. Love your videos. Helvetia [ hel-vee-shuh ] is the Latin name for Switzerland, more specifically the Western and Northern parts of Switzerland. Can't wait to see the renovations and more of the Abruzzo region of Italy.
That's really interesting. Did the Romans call it that? I'm looking forward to the renovations too, but my place is in Piedmont, not Abruzzo. 😉
@ oh, for some reason I thought it was in Abruzzo. Very nice, still.
Great vid Mike! Thnx 4 sharing!
Thanks Rand. Missed you riding.
Glad you had a good Thanksgiving! The cemetery was very interesting. I can't wait to see some property walk throughs. You are in the Piemonte region, Vero?
Yes, Piemonte. I'll be sure to post more property walk throughs when I'm back.
@aroundtheworldwithmike I love the Piemonte style of homes. I grew up in rural Pennsylvania, there is a tombstone in one of the small town cemeteries, that was completely written in Arabic script. It was from the late 1800s. It's very weathered and I can't get a good picture of it.
I'm sure there's an interesting backstory for that headstone.
That’s all good news! So happy for you and your new adventure!
Thanks. Lots more adventures to come I'm sure.
Sounds great! All the best
Grazie mille!
Wow, that cemetery really is moving to see. It's possible some family members visit on El Dia de los muertos when it is important to keep ancestors memories alive. In any case, it is very special to see. Also enjoying your tales of continued progress on the house in Italy. Looking forward to seeing how it comes together.
Thanks, it's an interesting place to see for sure. Right out of a Wild West movie.
Congrats on your purchase. All of the details are very important and a little daunting for an ex-Pat. I just returned from a scouting trip to Lombardy and it took a bit of effort for me to understand what the cadastral value would be, ongoing IMU, trash etc. it was worthwhile to visit and see the town up close while getting this detail. I’m thinking about renting now.
I used a professional translator to translate the deed and be an interpreter on the day of sale and I was charged only 550 euros for all that service. I guess I was lucky
Congratulations! I am looking at properties in Southern Italy. Thank you for sharing your journey with us! This is exciting.
Good luck! I hope you find your dream place.
Congrats! 🎉 I spent one year in Minneapolis/Minnesota... 😊
Oh wow! I hope you had good weather. How did you like the winter? 😂
The only winter with little snow 🤣👍👍👍@@aroundtheworldwithmike
Congratulations Mike! I've been following your adventure, and love the house you bought!
Grazie mille! I am happy you're enjoying the journey.
That house clics all the boxes for me! We are also looking to buy in Italy for our retirement :-)
Welcome back! Enjoying your video! Keep it coming!
It's good to be back, I've got lots more coming.
Fantastic ! Congrats ! I'm remote closing in December. Are you opening a bank account there ? Its a second home for us. I will if I cant set up auto pay by credit card. We're in similar tiny town of 1300, in Molise.
Eventhough Molise non essiste!
Congratulations! Yes, I plan on opening a bank account in Italy. It will make things much more convenient.
Fantastic information! I'm hoping this is me in 11 months!
Go for it! It’s possible.
Great! Thanks for the new episode. I liked your little audience behind you
Thanks Kuba! The birds and chipmunks are getting ready for a long winter. 😎
Where did you find your home?
Piedmont. Take a look through my past videos. I explain my tour through the entire country of Italy and why I chose this region. It's a perfect choice for me and what I want, but it will be different for everyone.
@aroundtheworldwithmike That's a nice region Congratulations! I'm still looking around and wherever I go MUST have public transportation because I won't own a car.
Congrats. I applaud you for doing this. I dream of doing something like this but dont know where in Italy. Good luck. Thk u for these videos
Welcome back! I do have a question for you. Did you purchase the house as a second home and which was the commission percentage? I am looking for a property tu buy in Volterra and trying to compare your expenses with the list of expenses that the Realtor that I working with sent me. Thank you again and Congratulations.
We looking also, how do you buy and whats the best way to find something decent in a good location? Others have said a geometra might be able to help. Thanks for the videos. Update: sorry i just saw all your others videos which answer my questions ill go watch those cheers! :)
Keep finding them
Welcome in Italy 👍
A notary is like a lawyer who deals with these sales….the conditions, surveys, etc. In France it’s a notaire….same procedure for buying and selling property.
It's exactly the same in Germany. Reasonably straightforward.
I was just dropping by to check on you! I’ve been looking at listings in your area. 🤗
Electricity in Italy is quite expansive, thinks at it if you evaluate air con (warm/cold).. you also are not resident so utilities are higher
It will be helpful if you walk us through the process: How you went about finding the home. Your due diligence process. How you went about getting an attorney. How are you handled making your deposit. All of the paperwork involved. Etc. You can make at least another half dozen videos just guiding people through the process.
What its the nane of this town?
Mike, congrats! please share real estate agent infirmation.
Who was your agent and can I get their contract details please?
