I always find "street view" useful when using the Idealista maps. You get the sense that you are walking around the neighborhood, you might find it helpful!

Great tip. I use street view too. It's an amazing technology. But nothing beats being there in person. I thought I was sold on Penne until I got there. The feeling I got being there was nothing like the feelings I got when looking at pictures, videos and even Street View. I realize not everyone can go there, but for me it is essential.

Thanks for the tip. There are a lot of flights to Bari from Central Europe too.

Unfortunately, you picked the are where the sea is not nice. Go south towards Sabaudia, S. Felice Circeo, Terracina, Sperlonga, Gaeta (but no further!)

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll check these places out.

Yesss Sperlonga and Gaeta ;-) Or you buy a house or an apartment near the beach, in the Puglia region, so as not to take any risks

Being in Lazio or Umbria is a great home base. You can go north or south with ease.

Have you looked at the AMAZING walled city of Lucca? It's in the Tuscany region and absolutely gorgeous.

I did spend a night in Lucca and loved it. Amazing city. But that area is too flat for me.

I live in Italy, recently moved to Lago di Bolsena area. It's beautiful. The pitfalls are that public transport is scarce. I caught a taxi home once, as no one could pick me up -€189 ! It cost more than my flight. Even if you rented a car from the airport then someplaces you have to return it to the airport, so you are stuck again getting home. What I am saying is one of the frist thing would be public transport from the airport. Also don't choose isolated places as they are prone to being robbed.

Fortunately I have a motorcycle. And buying someplace that has good connections to transportation is definitely something that is important to me.

Good advice. Do you not own a car?

That's great advice. I am definitely considering transportation to and from any place I would like to buy. Thank you.

I like the potential of the 4 room flat for auction in Cori which has a decent sized population around 10,000, so lots of amenities. Doesn't look like there's an ex-pat community however, which might be important for foreigners moving in to town who don't speak Italian. Ex-pats know where things are and who's who etc.

@@aroundtheworldwithmike Isola del Liri is a small town in Lazio 70Klm from the coast. It might be worth checking out if it's not too far from the coast for you.

In a heartbeat, I would buy one of those! I have the cash, just not the ability to do much work restoring anything except cosmetic . I’m currently looking in both Italy, & preferably Spain where I have lived before. Right now I’m in Dubai

... Speaking about your friend Igor comment you mentioned in the beginning of the video... When you leave in Italy, you don't need to go all the way to French Polynesia to see nice tropical looking beaches 🌴😁 I already expecting pretty amazing montages 🎥... Wait and see 😉

Auction. Photos are not curated as the person who is living there is having their house forceably sold from underneath them. Very sad. Can be because of unpaid taxes or mortgages. Auctions have the problems of if there are people living there you may not be able to get rid of them for some time or have to offer them a sum to leave

    • @aroundtheworldwithmike
      @aroundtheworldwithmike  8 місяців тому

That is sad. I'm not interested in auctions and definitely don't want to be a part of someone losing their home.

Lazio (Latium in Latin) that's where the Latin people come from. No, the Latins don't come from Mexico.
