Second thoughts are completely normal for such a new adventure! You have done all your homework and once it’s yours, you will be so happy! Congratulations!
To err is human; to have second thoughts, doubts, crises of confidence and buyers remorse is entirely human nature. You got this. There’s always going to be weather, bureaucracy, construction conundrums etc but I can’t wait to see how the journey goes. It’s an inspiring experience for us who are following along.
Hi Mike, I just passed through your house this afternoon, and it's so awesome, a beautiful lively town in the center of Europe! You're going to love it! Also, the weather has been crazy all year, but regardless, it's so awesome being here, the friendliness of the people, the food, and the magnificent views! Relax and enjoy!
Having second thoughts is completely normal. When i bought my first home, i made myself sick with worry. It ended up being the best decision i could have made. Looking forward to more videos about the process.
Thanks! There are a lot of unknowns buying something overseas. It's those that are freaking me out. But I think it will all work out. Part of the adventure.
@@aroundtheworldwithmike As issues come up, listen to the advise of your Realtor. Nothing is going to happen that she hasn't seen before. Worry is wasted energy. If you worry and bad things still happen, you have changed nothing. If bad things don't happen, it was just heartburn.
I have lived Piedmont all my life. This is an exceptional September, but it can happen. The temperature has dropped. We have not had floods. Just a dusting of snow in the mountains above 2000 mts. In the foothills of the Alps we have had wind and lightning (it is practically never windy here). There has been little rain.
@@aroundtheworldwithmike The floods that occur here follow cycles of several decades, even three or four. I remember some in the 1970s and 1990s, that affected different areas of the region. They usually involve tributaries of the Po in the Alpine valleys (in 1976 they swept away many bridges, but they had been standing since Napoleonic times : that was a centennial flood) and the Tanaro, with big problems for the city of Alexandria. Generally, torrential rains always occurred in November-December or May.
I live right in the north of Italy, lake Maggiore. Here we missed the big storm but it's unseasonably cool for September.. Very wet in the spring and early summer this year, baking hot and dry through July and August and now it feels like November.. The weather is more anded more unpredictable. However, I love living here, been here 10 years, so just take the plunge and buy! I don't think you'll regret it.
Yes, there is terrible flooding right now in Emilia Romagna due to the big storm. Best to avoid areas directly near rivers and regions prone to flooding in heavy rain when looking to buy. The weather is crazy these days. But don't second guess your house decision. It's a gorgeous home and you will be glad you have it. Beautiful memories are waiting there for you!
I'm glad you're not leaving her at the altar! Second thoughts are normal, especially for a purchase like this. But follow your instincts! You love this place. (Also, I do like to hear about the weather over there. As someone who plans to be living there within the next few years, at least part time, I like to know all I can.)
Thanks for the update, Mike. I appreciate you sharing your extremely interesting journey. After the ink is dry, fight off that buyer's remorse which always seems to be inevitable.
You've been lucky to get away from the flooding, it looks dreadful in the Ravenna, Rimini and Ancona areas. It's natural to have last minute thoughts during the house buying process, but it seems to meet all your needs. The renovation works seem to be pretty straightforward, maybe look at some solar panels for the roof and air conditioning that does both cold and warm. Paola seems to be an excellent realtor, a real gem! Shame that her area is a little bit too far away from the area I would like to buy in, although it's also in Piedmont. Good luck next week. Transfers I use Wise. I found them very good, and they've just reduced the charges.
No apologies necessary, Mike. I am just enjoying watching your adventure and looking forward to seeing that house after you get it fully cleaned up and renovated. Maybe one day, we can go on a ride together over there.
Yes, very crazy, unusual weather. A lot of people have lost their lives or have had to evacuate their homes in Central Europe. Good luck with your purchase !
I completely understand. Maybe you are born to cycle around. My thoughts were to just buy an inexpensive place to drop my stuff and backpack by rail and see eur ope and I ended up buying much more but that's okay. In my case, I'm in Italy right now. My place is 300 years old but 10 years ago they took it down to just the 2-ft thick exterior walls and renovated everything to 21st century, so completely different. You'll Figure it out. Good luck!
Congratulations again on your purchase in Italy I’m living vicariously through you right now totally understand second thoughts what did they say marriage divorce by a home selling a home or those all the biggest stressors in life and it sounds like you’ve done so much research that you’ve been mindful about this decision and having a second fontit’s just part of the process. I don’t know what the heck is saying laugh out loud anyway congrats. Looking forward to seeing more of your journey. Have a great trip. Have a safe trip home.
Thank you so much. Every once in a while it hits me that I'm doing something a little crazy. But I'm confident it will all work out and be an incredible experience. Thanks for following along.
My partner and I moved to Spain five years ago. The process of purchasing real estate is complicated here, I suspect similar to what you're going through in Italy. It was difficult and occasionally stressful. It's still difficult sometimes - I'm still trying to learn the language, but I'm doing much better and you will eventually learn the things you need to know.
You are purchasing a beautiful place. Once renovated you will feel so much at home. I've watched several UTube videos, of Italy & surrounding islands. People do buy more than one property. Sometimes selling their 1st home. Moving to Italy is a money saving option for people who want to retire early or saving more retirement monies. I love 💘 this property. Go for it. !!!. Renovations will find you in a good place.
Are you close to a street flat spring water or sparking free water spout. ?????. Several around Italy. Save & fill up your water or juice bottles. Could you hire a company to clean your home? Once the water is hooked up. I would do that 1st. Before you leave for home. Blessings
I'm won't deny climate change at all, but this has been a bizarre weather year due to El Nino; extra moisture in around the equator and dryer further north. Las Vegas went from 106 to 55F over a weekend.
Actually, I applied for the tax ID with the Italian Consulate in the US over two months ago and never heard back. Fortunately my realtor Paola scheduled this appointment as a backup. We waited 15 minutes and once we went to a desk I had my tax ID in 3 minutes. Incredible!
Gday mate , .lm in town at mine a village over for a week , if your about we can meet up on bikes and go for a coffee, and l can tell ya in person my experience buying here Fitzy

Best of luck to you, MIke. You’ll love it. Life will be so much more enjoyable
Life is good now, but I think experiencing Italy will be amazing as well.
Last minute nerves !
Looking forward to the progress.

It's called weather warfare
yep not climate change 😂
The old saying is If in doubt don’t.🇦🇺
Thanks. I wasn't really having doubts about the house, just about the unknown. I think everything will turn out fine.
I said that before I seen the house, it looks well worth it. Good luck.😊 Australia 🇦🇺

The $ vs euro is down. Any concern?
It made things a bit more expensive. I'll be discussing this in a future video.
How about the hail storm on August 4 th in Turin.
I'm won't deny climate change at all, but this has been a bizarre weather year due to El Nino; extra moisture in around the equator and dryer further north. Las Vegas went from 106 to 55F over a weekend.
Crazy times for sure.
Wow, you are leaving things last minute, the tax code the same day as the signing?
Actually, I applied for the tax ID with the Italian Consulate in the US over two months ago and never heard back. Fortunately my realtor Paola scheduled this appointment as a backup. We waited 15 minutes and once we went to a desk I had my tax ID in 3 minutes. Incredible!
Ur not having second thoughts. But it is indeed hard to get views unless we the public have some drama, so well done on u mate.
I was definitely having second thoughts, but I was pretty locked in at that point with a signed contract. Not many options other than to move forward.
Judging by your last name, Mike - you are of Finnish heritage?
You are correct. Finnish and Norwegian on my mom's side.
The music sounds Spanish, buy an electric MC instead of burning oil
