This was my criticism of the online sleep apnea forums. People are programed to not explore other treatments and to just trust in CPAP for life. What about the 2/3 of the day when we are awake. What about folks like myself with mild apnea?

I didn't do this until I was in a car accident with severe thoracic damage. I didn't fullyheal from physical or emotional damage. I have intrusive thoughts in my sleep about the accident and how I was treated by people afterwards. I can shut these thoughts out during the day but at night no. Now I've gone through 3 years of cancer treatments and it's worse. Mine is controlled by PTSD.

Regretfully, i took Melatonin on a "bad night" and my sleep duration was unusually long. I awoke to a lot of respiratory distress (implying my body failed to wake me appropriately). I observed a similar effect from Doxepin... these drugs are unsafe for apnea patients / should never be taken there are times when the forbidden fruit is appealing, but less sleep isn't worth potentially dying. *Especially* with severe apnea

I gave up sugar and starch earlier this year. It started as a 30-day challenge. I noticed my moods improved, less anxiety (had since childhood), no nightly panic attacks which disturbed my sleep, lost weight, and my blood work all was in normal range for first time in years. Most change blood marker was my triglycerides, down 29 from previous test 6 months earlier. Sugar is poison and I have loved it my whole life. I’m 68. Sugar withdrawals are real.

And yes, sugar withdrawals are definitely real, but you're living proof that pushing through them is well worth it. Hats off to you!

Doc Petkus, In addition to the breathing techniques, I'll try the "Dynamo D" 🙏. 2 Questions about a quality D3: 1. I have looked at some of the vitamin D and presume we're speaking about "D3" ... but also wondered if I should be taking it with K2? 2. IN The D3 I've seen, One has "Sunflower Seed Oil" & the other has "Lichen (VegaDelight) & also "Coconut MCT Oil". I'm concerned about INFLAMMATION and the vegi & seed oil ingredients! Should I? Can you recommend a good one. Cheers, Eric

k2 would help optimize it. MCT oil would be best as the solvent. But overall, I wouldn't worry much about the plant oils in such a small amount. And, I don't have a solid brand to rec.

I have been on a CPAP for YEARS and I still don't sleep very well. Usually 4 hours a night. I've tried all the sleep supplements that were recommended... Magnesium, melatonin, 5HTP, valerian root etc.etc. I've recently started sleeping with ear plugs in and I'm sleeping about an hour longer. My CPAP sounds like a small jet idling in my bedroom and I realized its not letting me sleep well because of the noise, so I've decided that I'm getting off the CPAP once and for all. Your content is very informative and much appreciated! I never knew that the CPAP was supposed to be temporary. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!

I recently got diagnosed with sleep apnea. Also, being diabetic, I often do periods of fasting (20:4 or OMAD) and/or very low card diet (VLC: carnivore or meat + green veggies). Maybe I should try tracking my sleep and compare when I do my fast/low carb, and when I eat "normally", which is still low carb in general. The only mean available to me for sleep tracking is my Samsung Watch but maybe I could identify interesting trends there. I do feel way better (more awaken, more energy, physically lighter) when I fast/VLC, but I am intrigue to see if a better sleep is part of the reason. That would be fantastic because the CPAP is not working for me so far...

50 + years ago I was informed by my doctor that I had hypo gliseamea. He put me on Saccarin as a sweetner. Then the food and beverage industry came up with other artificial sweeteners. My health took a hit. Later, I was diagnosed by a couple of doctors with ADHD out of control and started me on pharmaceuticals for it. What was the big symptoms that brought me in? I would get lost on campus or driving accrost town...I would forget were I was going and did not know where I was. It did not take long to run out os any new ones because in most cases the took me off the prescription before the first thirty days were up. The side effects were terrible! Then came problems that gave them cause to remove my falblader out. I resisted and wanted testing done. They did the testing and even though it had negative results they still wanted to take. I searched for a new doctor not from this community. I found a doctor that specialized in Horrmone Therapy and she was known for being holistic. Holistic got my attention! This doctor was different. Instead of spending five minutes with me, she interrigated for an hour as if I was a murder suspect. She took a lot of notes! She ordered testing and told me not to worry about my gallbladder becaeu she thought it was OK. She also suspected the testing would review that I have been having a reaction to gluten. The biggest thing result of the tests was that 24L on my vitabin D3. She did not want me to drive home. She said to call my wife and have her come and get me. I said no can do. She would have to round up another driver to come with her and leave my truck 35 miles from home. She admitted from the history s gleaned from me that I likely was that low for at least three years. I finally got her to allow me to drive home if I took back roads. When I arrived home I jumped on the internet and researched. I found that some states have laws forcing doctors who get results that are low on vitamin D, must notify the drivers bearow. The want you off the road as a driver until a doctor gets your vitamin D up to normal. For over ten years I was driving when I should not have! What have I learned from this? Doctors that dispence pharmasuticles without proper testing and coarupt and not to be relied upon. Also, she removed sugar and substitutes from my diet. I can have stevia. But I cannot buy it here. I have read the labels and I am not to have what they added. I researched and found a company called Stivita Naturals, head quartered in TX. The have Simply Stevie. Stevia only!
