    I gave up sugar and starch earlier this year. It started as a 30-day challenge. I noticed my moods improved, less anxiety (had since childhood), no nightly panic attacks which disturbed my sleep, lost weight, and my blood work all was in normal range for first time in years. Most change blood marker was my triglycerides, down 29 from previous test 6 months earlier. Sugar is poison and I have loved it my whole life. I’m 68. Sugar withdrawals are real.

      Wow, what a fantastic journey! Your experience really highlights how much sugar influences more than just our waistlines-it's affecting our brains and hearts, too. The improvement in your blood work is proof that small, consistent changes can lead to big results. And yes, sugar withdrawals are definitely real, but you're living proof that pushing through them is well worth it. Hats off to you!

    Thank you for this video! I'm a huge sugar addict and I know I need to kick the habit. I didn't realize how much it was affecting my sleep! I haven't been diagnosed with sleep apnea, but I sleep terribly! I downloaded your 30 Days to Better Sleep, and I'm also very interested in the brain information! Thank you again for this!

    I found sugar in sausage. We expect it in jam, we accept it in pasta sauce but we don't expect it in meat.

    Nooo... I love sugar 😊 that being said I started reading your sleep apnea PDF that you sent me again because I never finished it and it's quite good period and you definitely have a lot of very good free resources there that I do appreciate. I will check out your information about sugar and I want to thank you for providing so much without a fee because most people out there I'm not willing to help in that way.

      It's not love, it's addiction. It's so very important to know the difference.
      Painfully similar to being emotionally addicted to one's abusive partner, tbh..

    excellent video - it is said that there are 600 different names given by the food processing industry to disguise sugar in in highly processed foods. starter example; sugar=corn syrup=dextrose=fructose=glucose. Sugar is used to change you behavior and eat more of their product- create an addiction/attraction to BUY their products

    I recently got diagnosed with sleep apnea. Also, being diabetic, I often do periods of fasting (20:4 or OMAD) and/or very low card diet (VLC: carnivore or meat + green veggies). Maybe I should try tracking my sleep and compare when I do my fast/low carb, and when I eat "normally", which is still low carb in general. The only mean available to me for sleep tracking is my Samsung Watch but maybe I could identify interesting trends there. I do feel way better (more awaken, more energy, physically lighter) when I fast/VLC, but I am intrigue to see if a better sleep is part of the reason. That would be fantastic because the CPAP is not working for me so far...

    Not too long ago I used a continuous glucose monitor (CGM) and noticed that one of the most triggering foods that spiked my blood glucose levels was oatmeal. It was actually worse than ice cream. I since noticed many others have reported similarly. J

      @dylanpetkusmd  15 днів тому +1

      most don't know that, but that happens mainly because oatmeal is gross. Trust me on that "factoid," don't bother looking it up 😅😅

      Great point! I’m much happier eating bacon and eggs.
      Thanks for offering the 30 day plan. I am compiling a list of my dental patients to send this highly palliative material to. I am torn sharing the high crimes of the Sugah Assoc but the incredible damage they have perpetrated on humanity is incalculable. I would love to see a class action lawsuit against them.

      I had Angus burger with lettuce. I did not miss the bun. However, I use ketchup and mayo but this has seed oils. You know the kind the resturant uses.

      I have asked for no bread for various sandwiches at a few restaurants. Evidently this is common practice as not once has the waiter hesitated and I have gotten exactly the meal I wanted.

      Yes definitely 👍 Another suggestion is…instead of bread or a burger bun try the following. If you like plantains try using green plantains, flatten and fry it to create a plantain burger bun! It’s sooo good! 😋 Look on UA-cam for videos for full details to prepare

    You should be blaming the those who publish and support the incorrect information more than the industries. None of the deception is possible without medical journals and government agencies giving credibility to bad information.

    Why does sugar inflame more then glucose from whole foods?

    • @dylanpetkusmd
      @dylanpetkusmd  Місяць тому +7

      because it will have a higher insulin spike. When it is within a whole food, then it has other things (water, fiber, etc.) that prevent this insulin spike.

    • @soylentgreenb
      @soylentgreenb Місяць тому +3

      Sugar is half fructose which gets metabolized similar to alcohol by the liver. Every cell can use glucose; very high glucose is dangerous and your body generates a huge insulin response to bring it down if you eat fast sugars.
      If there is fibre or fat the glucose will be released slowly. Real fruits are very slow; things like pasta and popcorn and that sort of thing is kinda slow. But white bread or sugar sweets are monstrously fast.
